Specialties
The moderately-priced menu is a mix of steaks, seafood, appetizers, salads, and chicken entrees, including dishes like grilled tuna, filet mignon, fried shrimp, lobster, and baby back ribs. A full bar is available, and drinks like the strawberry daiquiris are always a popular choice.
History
Established in 1979.
Silas Dent’s restaurant opened its doors in 1979, after eight long months of creating the concept. With a strong food and beverage background and eight years in management at Disney World, Rob Stambaugh was ready to design and operate his own restaurant. His parents owned and operated the London Wax Museum on St Pete Beach. Located on a portion of the museum property was a vacant two story building that would be perfect for the site of the new restaurant.
His father reminded him of Silas Dent, a friendly hermit that lived on Cabbage Key (now known as Tierra Verde). Silas’ family were dairy farmers who had left Cabbage Key and relocated to north Pinellas County, leaving Silas to live where he loved, «The Island».
On June 9th, 2014 Silas Steakhouse celebrated its 35th anniversary.
Silas Dents is committed to maintaining the standards which have worked for over a quarter of a century while striving for the flair and imagination to take us through the next 25 years

Robert S.
Business Owner
Silas’ original design was inspired by Rob Stambaugh, the one remaining partner of the original owners. With a strong food and beverage background and eight years in management at Disney World, Rob was ready to design and operate his own restaurant. His parents, Ted and Althea Stambaugh, owned and operated the London Wax Museum on St Pete Beach. Located on a portion of the museum property was a vacant two story building that would be perfect for the site of the new restaurant. Rob, born and raised on St Pete Beach, knew that he wanted his restaurant to be themed «Old Florida.» His father reminded him of Silas Dent, a friendly hermit that lived on Cabbage Key (now known as Tierra Verde).
