Crowne Plaza St. Louis – Downtown

Just not a great experience at all. Yes we got a great deal of $ 42 on Priceline buttt… it definitely wasn’t worth the 2 fire alarms at 230am and 3 am or the loud guest screaming off the balcony around 1130pm.

Breakfast was good but only had one guy hustling the whole room. He did a great job but had way to many things going on.

A super 8 is better then this dump. No air conditioning. Has a nasty smell through out. Curtains falling off the rods. Wall paper coming off the walls. Rude lady at the front desk. RUDE as in doesn’t deserve to be in the public. Beware before you book a room here… they definitely need to do some repairs to this whole.

Didn’t have much interaction with employees. Was in town for a concert weekend.
This place needs a serious renovation. Faded paint, dirty carpet, broken bathroom fixtures. We had no heat during our stay, in winter?
Should be priced more like Motel6
At least our floor was relatively quiet and hotel is a decent location.

This is probably one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at, they had a deal to stay here for for about $ 60 a night, boy was that a bad idea. The lobby and downstairs are nice but the rooms are gross and disgusting. It definitely needs to be renovated. While it is convenient next to the arch, Pay a little more and stay at the Hyatt or the Hilton just next door. The furniture is all scratched and dented, the bed is on a metal box spring so it is super noisy. The closet door was even broken so you couldn’t close it after opening it. STAY AWAY!

The only good thing about this hotel was the view of the arch. Bid on this room on Priceline and got it for $ 60. Parking was another $ 10 and the parking garage was a confusing maze. The room was pretty gross, found a fake diamond earring on the bathroom floor in plain view. The deadbolt on our door had been ripped off. The wifi did not work at all, and when I called downstairs about it I got hung up on, they did not care. There was central heating because the building was so old, and the room was very hot and we could not make it cooler. There was a used condom outside the parking garage. Just a bad/​gross experience overall. Thank god we only got that hotel for one night!

I am a priority club member and normally like the Crown Plaza brand. This hotel is in need of a remodel. Our room, even though it was a suite, was tired. The Wi-​Fi was spotty, the room temperature controls did not work, they ran out of pillows and blankets. Also ran out of hot water during peak period around 8:30am. There is a sign posted for valet service and none available. There was substantial freeway noise and also construction sounds audible from the nearby arch. Upon check out there was apparently a problem with my credit card but after calling my company twice and waiting 30 minutes, it was finally processed. Overall, a disappointing experience. Check out the Hyatt and Hilton nearby.

Not a bad hotel for a good price.
The lobby and bar area looked nice, but the corridors and elevators were as some of the other reviewers have stated, «old-​school». Their were definitely some cleaning issues as well. The place looked a bit shabby in quite a few places around the hotel. The room layout was a bit odd, but my room had a great balcony with a not so bad view of the Gateway Arch (a leg of it anyway LOL). The shower was a mixed bag. It had really good water pressure and was capable of good and hot temperatures. Unfortunately it had a bad temperature control valve. There were only two temperatures; SCALDING HOT & FREEZING COLD…
I made the mistake of having breakfast in the Union Grill hotel restaurant. It had the same cleaning issues as the rest of the hotel with a hotel priced sub-​par buffet.
I think that I would probably stay here again if the price was right. Although I would like to try another hotel on my next visit to STL. I used Orbitz and came in about thirty bucks cheaper than CP’s advertised price.

I was here for a convention. Yes, it’s convenient if you are Ok with a $ 40 cab ride from the airport. No shuttle service. This is the only hotel that my car was broken into. The hotel security didn’t even see it, the hotel across the street did when one of their security guards went out for a smoke break. No video surveillance. No offer to discount the room or pay for the window. This place can eat a bag of …

Wifi had no resemblance of working… at all. Also, if you get the free Priority Club breakfast, pass. It is the most limited, fly-​infested joke. I have seen better at a Super 8. Are you rewarding valued customers or punishing them? …but nice view of the Arch.

Poor St.Louis. This hotel probably shouldn’t be open. Certainly not a Crown Plaza hotel experience. Tired, worn, and indite need of a total do over!
Pass on this place.

We booked a room as did another couple for the night (we were in a wedding downtown). Our room had a beautiful view, nonsmoking (per our request) and a king bed. Our friends, got a smoking room (despite their request) and at midnight when we arrived post reception there was nothing else available. Not happy. Futhermore, only 1 of the 6 elevators was working so there was quite a long wait to get up to our room.
When we did get to our room, the AC was broken (which really wasn’t a big deal bc it was lovely outside) but it made cranking noises all night.
The rest of the wedding party stayed at the Hyatt next door. It was a little pricier but WOAH way nicer. In the future I won’t be so cheap bc it definitely wasn’t worth saving the 20 bucks.

The staff is at best incompetent and inattentive, at worst downright hostile. The guest rooms haven’t been updated since the 90s. Peeling wallpaper, loose bathroom fixtures, window AC units that struggle to adequately cool rooms. When we arrived our room was 84 °F (90 °F outside) and there was no toilet paper or bath towels. Several of the elevators are broken. The crowd here this weekend (drunk and obnoxious Cardinals and Pirates fans) but the paper thin walls that allow their idiocy at 3am disrupt everyone.
To the staff and management of this hotel: If the lines for your elevators extend through the entire lobby and into the bar, maybe some active management of that system is required to have any sort of pleasant experience for your guests. If guest rooms aren’t available for fully three hours after the stated check-​in time, perhaps you should extend some hospitality to the affected guest by a comp at the bar or restaurant. Maybe you should have a checklist for housekeeping to make sure little details like toilet paper aren’t missed. Maybe management shouldn’t be renting rooms without functional HVAC systems.
PS: The wi-​fi also doesn’t work correctly. Their certificate systems are broken so auth doesn’t complete. I notified the front desk, but it was like asking a house cat to do calculus.
There is a less than zero chance I will ever return to this property.

This place is going to make me withdraw from the IHG Rewards program, We had a family meet up here to have a good weekend and a Father’s Day celebration. It was awful, the place was dirty, the staff was surly and I will never return. When we arrived in our room (2BR suite with a sitting room) we had
1 towel
a busted lamp shade
a fist hole in the bathroom door
2 Pair of dirty underwear
1 wash cloth tossed behind the couch that was all stuck together (you figure it out)
In the morning we had two leaks in the ceiling.
The staff made no attempt to correct this and then they locked us out of our room and resold it, giving us a room with two beds and a couch.
DO NOT STAY HERE!

The Crown Plaza — Downtown Hotel has it’s positives and negatives. But its an decent place to stay.
Lets talk about the positives. The hotel location is great! You are within walking distance to all the good stuff like the stadiums, museums and restaurants. You have to pay for parking, but its only 10 bucks per night and that’s not bad for downtown. The hotel also has a roof top pool and observation deck with a killer view of the Gateway Arch. The staff of the hotel is really friendly too. They set me up with a room looking right at the arch when I asked for it. So don’t hesitate to ask for what you want to look at :-) Most of my pictures below are of the stuff I liked.
The main negative for this hotel is that its old… It looks like they are doing some renovations, but the overall feel is still meh. The room itself and bathroom was nice and modern. But the hallway getting to the room was super dated, with a loud ice machine. Try not staying in rooms ending with 06, 07, or 20 since they are right next to the loud ice machine. The flooring throughout the hotel is old and there is a lot of cracked tile everywhere.
I don’t believe that the negatives will keep me from coming back. It’s an OK hotel, that’s right in the center where you want to be, and at a good rate.

Great location. Clean room. Parking on site for $ 10. Rooftop pool nice view but pool is small.
Small refrigerator is ice cold. Small microwave in room also. Room service available. Bar in lobby.

Average. That’s the word I keep coming back to. There are parts of this hotel that look incredibly dated, and the first impression I got walking in is that it’s an old hotel. Once you get into the room it looks like the furniture is recent but the wallpaper and air conditioner are not. The bathroom is small and old but clean. The room itself is good sized. Service is a mixed bag. Some people are good at customer service, some aren’t. It’s the luck of the draw. The hallways aren’t as clean as they should be. But the bed is comfortable and the sheets clean.
Breakfast is fairly good. As is typical for a hotel it’s overpriced for what you get. The restaurant staff is attentive and there’s a nice view of the arch in the dining room.
I ate in the lounge one night; the food wasn’t bad but wasn’t outstanding. The service at the bar was lacking. The bartender doted on regulars and talked to her friends but left me waiting a lot.
Pro tip: self park your car. Besides the self parking being $ 10/​day instead of $ 20 for valet, the valet situation is horrid. You’re recommended to call down for your car 20 minutes ahead of time. So the drive fills up with cars waiting to be claimed. Meanwhile the attendant will leave you waiting. And waiting. And waiting longer than 20 minutes. Don’t bother.
The rates here are cheaper than the others nearby, but the other hotels are nicer. It’s not a dump, but just know that there are some trade offs for a low rate.

Just gonna hit the quick details of my experience:
–smells old and dirty
–climate control is not adjustable
–internet doesn’t work 99% of the time
–20% chance of getting a decent view
–any complaints will get «looked in to» and you’ll never hear back
–location is great for tourism only
–not recommended for business trips
–room rate and quality are not equal. Overpriced for sure
–I’ve stayed in super 8’s nicer than this place

What a joke this place is. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here.
I made my reservation through Expedia for a king bed/​non smoking room about a month before my stay. On my arrival, I was told that there wasn’t any non-​smoking rooms left. I had just driven over 6 hours and was exhausted; figured «how bad could it be?!»
Well, it was terrible. Not only was the smoking floor stinky and causing me to have itchy red eyes right away, it was old, things were broken, including my TV, and it just felt dirty.
I had called Expedia to see if they could get me a non smoking room in the hotel. To my disbelief, Henry, the incompetent manager, had informed Expedia that since I already checked in, I would be charged $ 50.
$ 50 to stay in a room for 15 minutes that I didn’t want, didn’t reserve and was literally making my skin crawl. Ridiculous.
I paid the $ 50 to just get the heck out of this disaster of a hotel. Should have read the reviews on the place, in the first place.
Stay at the St Louis City Center instead, people. They were very nice which was a warm welcome to the crap service at the Crowne.

Couldn’t handle it. This place is so bad I had to leave. The first room we went to was huge… On the 4^th floor with a watermelon sized stain in the middle of the room. It smelled awful. The light was broken in the bathroom so we asked to switch. Then we went to a room that looked fine but on the sheets there was hair and yellow body fluids. Disgusting.
The elevators felt like they would break, the halls had chipped paint left and right, the doors hard to open. I left this hotel. I’ve stayed in 3^rd world countries with better hotel cleanliness.

Seven stars for an incredible staff. Nice lobby. Reasonable parking for its location ($ 10).
Minus five for the room.
There’s no nice way to say this: the building is a dilapidated relic. The newest thing in the room is the tv, at least it is a flat screen. Fridge and microwave are a nice touch, still old. Room was clean and large, crazy with wasted space, old furniture, crappy old fixtures.
My room was right next to the elevator. You could hear it all night long, like there wasn’t even a wall there. Slamming, people whistling, talking loudly, it went on all night. That stunk.
The bathroom. Ugh. Seriously dated, thinking 1970’s remodel? The shower had two temperatures: glacier-​fed and scalding. I ended up having to devise a kind of sponge bath because I’m just not into torture. The soaps were nice.
The furnace, God bless it, tried. Too bad it isn’t adjustable. Brrr.
The view from the balcony is spectacular. There is a lot of potential here. I hope a major overhaul is in the works. Until then, it is way overpriced for a glorified Motel 6.
