History

Established in 1979.

Owned by the Leonardini Family, Whitehall Lane is a small winery in Napa Valley’s historic Rutherford appellation. With 125 acres of prime, valley floor vineyards, the family is committed to creating exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Reserves.

Though the winery was founded in 1979, the history of the soil dates back two centuries to settlers who planted vines on the property in the 1800’s. In the winery’s short history, Whitehall Lane has developed into a world-class winery, honored three times for producing wines rated among the top five in the world, by the Wine Spectator.

Meet the Business Owner

Tom L.

Business Owner

A keen interest in fine wine led Tom Leonardini Sr. to buy Whitehall Lane Winery in March of 1993. He was looking for a real estate based business to buy and found Whitehall Lane Winery was for sale. Knowing the winery had premium vineyard sources and wines that were starting to turn heads

(including the 1990 Morisoli Vineyard Cabernet and 1990 Merlot), he bought the winery. «This is not just a hobby. We’re committed to making superior wines,» he said back in 1993. That commitment continues today.

Tom’s background is not rooted in wine. He is a native of San Francisco and a successful businessman who has owned several enterprises over the years. However, Whitehall Lane Winery is unlike his other ventures; it’s a family business with his wife and five children. In fact, he expects the winery to be in his family for generations to come.
