Established in 1981.

Virginia Tire and Auto of Springfield started in 1981 as Backlick Texaco @ 6620 Backlick Rd, then in the summer of 1990 we acquired Backlick shell next door @ 6626 Backlick Rd. In 2000 the Shell and Texaco merged, and that made us have 2 shell stations next to each other. In late 2005 we purchased the property of Backlick Shell and converted it into a Goodyear Store and combine the our other Shell with the Goodyear to create Virginia Tire and Auto of Springfield, where we continue to provide quality Shell Products, Goodyear Tires and excellent automotive services you come to expect from us since 1981. Gerry is a true Springfield native, having lived in the area his entire life. He began his career in the automotive repair field more than 41 years ago and came to work for Virginia Tire & Auto of Falls Church in 1982. In 1999, Gerry transferred to Virginia Tire & Auto of Springfield and has been there ever since. He loves to be outdoors and spending time with his wife of 33 years, Diana, and their 3 wonderful grandchildren.

Excellent customer service from the minute I called to make an appointment to the minute I walked out of there. The front desk associate was very nice and got me in very quickly for an oil change and I only waited about 30 minutes for everything to be done. It’s very clean inside and they offer complimentary water and coffee as well as a big screen tv to keep you entertained while you wait. I also appreciate the fact they asked me if I wanted to replace some air filters but that it wasn’t really necessary. They didn’t hassle me or pressure me to get it fixed which I hate about other auto service shops. Definitely will be going back for further services. Check in to get $ 10 off!!!

From the front desk to the technicians, everyone is professional, knowledgeable and highly competent. I always feel they do a great job here and it is no coincidence that they are always busy. Best to drop off and have them call when then work is done. If you live it work close by, they have a shuttle service.

I moved to the Springfield/​Lorton area about five years ago, and for the first few years I used a mechanic recommended to me by a friend. Then, each time I would bring it in for routine maintenance, there would be this list of things that needed to be repaired. Then, finally, an inspection that found things wrong with the car that weren’t wrong according to the next inspector. So, I needed a new mechanic.
I chose VA Tire and Auto in Springfield for my next oil change/​inspection because it was in a good location for me and seemed to get mostly positive reviews. The first time it was fine. The next time, I needed two new tires. Really? Hmm, well, the car has always been hard on tires, so…, but then two or three weeks later, I start smelling burning oil, and it keeps getting worse. Yep, there is an oil leak, and I wonder how they didn’t notice that during the oil change, but fine. I take it in, and they clean up the engine and inform me that I need a new timing belt and have multiple oil leaks. To fix this, they need to remove the engine, and it will take three to four days and $ 4700. I said, can it wait? They said, yes. So I left and thought, a) how stupid do I look and b) I need to shower to get the sleaze off. I took the car to my old mechanic in the Arlington/​Alexandria area, and after a few hours, they called me and said, well, unfortunately, it’s going to cost you $ 575. Yeah, $ 575. They had it fixed by the end of the day. It is absolutely ridiculous that a chain concern like VA Tire and Auto should allow such dishonest and disrespectful (and likely sexist) behavior in its shops. From now on, I’m sticking with my guy in Arlington/​Alexandria. It isn’t convenient, but I’ll drive further for respect and honesty any day.

Only place I trust when it comes to any car related services. Very honest people who will not recommend a fix unless it’s absolutely needed. I worked with Sara in my most recent visit and she was very helpful in setting up my tire hazard claim with Tire Rack, went over and beyond what I would’ve expected. I love this place!

A couple of months ago I called because I needed tires for my car. I received great phone customer service from Marco and Mr.Dan. Needless to say I ended up purchasing the 2 tires that I needed and also because they were a great price! I also needed a synthetic oil change which they added to the service no problem.
When I came back to pick up my car Mr. Dan informed me I would be needing to replace my front brakes «soon».
He quoted me a price which I thought was reasonable. So I told him I’ll def will be back not only because the shop is close to the house, but the customer service is great and the prices I thought were reasonable!
Until this passed weekend that is! My new battery light which wasn’t purchase at your shop came on and also my brake light! So I drove it straight to your shop. Well come to find out that I needed a new alternator. Everything else was fine with my car!
I’m like ok what’s the damage, price wise?
The price (which was over a $ 1,000) that was quoted over the phone was nearly $ 600 more for just the Alternator from you guys then from my car dealer ship who I called to see how much they charge for a new alternator!
Not only did the car dealership beat you guys on the alternator price but also on the ceramic breaks price which I need in the near future.
I wish you guys offered military discount
No need to hear from the peanut gallery how military people always want the discount ect ect
If it’s offered mostly everywhere might as well ask for it and use it!
Other then that! So far my few personal experiences with customer service and repair service were great.

Very happy with my first experience with Virginia Tire and Auto in Springfield after an unexpected flat.
Everyone gave me great service: Bob — initial phone call, information, research and timely call back; Sarah — quality front counter service; Andy — technician who quickly repaired tire; Dan — fast and friendly check out.
Hopefully I won’t be back soon, but when I need tires or tire repair I know where to go!

I used to frequent the dealership but after the last couple of visits and list of things I «needed» and the prices it became clear they were trying to take advantage of me (a gps/​music screen that cost $ 3500 to replace but which came back with a new battery or an AC that needed work but is still going strong two seasons later)… Anyway, I was done with the dealership and started looking for other places to have my vehicle serviced.
It was time for me to think about tires and so I visited the Goodyear page and searched for tires for my vehicle. Once I selected some tires I began looking for places in the NOVA area which Goodyear said had them. I saw that Virginia Tire & Auto of Springfield had the tires (or could get them) and gave them a call. (It also helped they seemed to have decent Unilocal reviews) It was a Friday and they said they had the tires. I was a little annoyed when I arrived and found out they only had three but was able to get my ticket ready, solidify the online price (which was a pleasant surprise and helps with that 4th star), and make an appointment for Sunday, which in the long run turned out to be a good thing…
On Sunday we arrived just before a flood of people and they got started on my vehicle pretty quickly. I had also decided to get an alignment. The whole process took a couple of hours. The waiting area is nice if you decide to wait inside but there is also a strip mall with a couple of places to eat and a pretty nice 7 – 11. Hubby and I elected to take a couple strolls and enjoyed Slurpees and a nice Pakistani buffet lunch.
The guys at the registers were nice and interactive on both Friday and Sunday. It was a comfortable car experience and someplace I wouldn’t mind visiting again for other services as well as rotations.
The total amount I spent for the tires, installation, and alignment was less than what I had been quoted for just the tires by a couple of places that service BMWs. Nice team, good work, good pricing, and clean location with nice waiting area make me a fan.

I went in for an emissions test. There was only one car ahead of me. So it really shouldn’t have taken more than 15 or 20 minutes. But it took them an hour. It turns out they do not communicate with each other so the people at the counter did not know that my car was ready.
Management, please take note of this poor communication.
On the bright side, my car passed the emissions test!

Staff are courteous, knowledgeable and they scheduled my appointment at a time and date that suited the both of us mutually. Just an alignment, nitrogen fill for the new tires and battery check. I arrived on the day of the appointment thirty minutes early so I called Über for a lift home; Virginia Tire & Auto of Springfield offered me a ride but I had things to do and didn’t want to wait for the shuttle. Service was performed to perfection; no battery needed at the time. Car was not molested or littered with grease and oil anywhere. I paid the man and left with a smile on my face. I love it when that happens! I will be taking my Cadillac back for an oil change next month. Oh, yeah… they have fresh fruit also! Added a fifth star because that’s what this place deserves!

I’ve gone to this place several times for various things. Started out with tires then went to some car repair. Each and every time it took FOREVER to get my car repaired … no matter how small the job was. Compared to the place I used to go to (the mechanic I used there moved away), the prices were high and they always found «something else» I needed done.
I took it yesterday morning because my automatic windows did not work in the rear passenger seat. They called me back at 4:21 pm to tell me they needed a part from the dealer, but it would be ready today. I called a bit ago and they told me my car would be ready by 5 pm. Five??? Come on … you can’t tell me it takes that long to replace a part on the door. No way, no how. I’m done, D O N E, now looking for a new mechanic.

These guys are pleasant and competitively priced even against the cutthroat online tires warehouses. I also made a mistake in IDing my own tire sizes (didn’t realize I had «staggered fitment» aka different sized front and back tires and because of that they ordered the wrong size. They were TOTALLY COOL about my obnoxious mistake and helped me get sorted out in linear fashion, with none of the attitude or restock fees that I was expecting. I appreciated that pragmatic customer service approach immensely.
From a technical standpoint, the new tires were perfectly balanced and aligned off the bat — an experience I have not enjoyed through NTB or my dealership previously.

Excellent customer service. They were very informative and the waiting area was nice and clean.
Went to them for a manufacturer warranty replacement on a tire that I purchased online via Tire Rack. Henry was very knowledgeable and helpful with the whole process. He seems to really know his stuff about tires and I will definitely look to them when I need to replace my tires next time.
They are super kid friendly with a mini-​garage, crayons and even Matchbox cars for the kids. The employees are also very warm and welcoming to kids.
Had a super positive experience and would definitely use them again for additional tire needs.

I’m THAT person who doesn’t realize that their inspection was due until the first day of the next month. Whoops!
I found Virginia Tire & Auto (located in Brookfield Plaza next to the Shell Gas Station) on Unilocal and I called to make sure they were taking services on Sundays. I was able to drop off my car without an appointment and they called me back within an hour to let me know my car was ready for pickup. Since I drop off my Mini Cooper for service during the maintenance schedule, I haven’t had any issues with passing state emissions and inspections. Overall, the process here was swift and the customer service reps were friendly.
My boyfriend has dropped off his BMW here a few times to change out his tires (from summer to winter) and hasn’t had any issues either. This has become our go-​to spot for quick car services outside of our respective dealerships.

I needed to get my 91 Camry inspected a couple years ago and I decided I would take it here since it was right across the street from where I worked. Dropped off my car on my day off and grabbed a bite while I waited… «It’s going to be 1,600 $ to pass inspection.»

The advisor told me that my power steering system was shot and I needed a new pump, he said my reservoir was completely empty.
I don’t know if it was the mechanic who was being dishonest or the advisor… But my power steering system was clean as a whistle because I kept putting fresh fluid in when it would get low (had recently replaced a leaking hose.)
Got my keys, popped my hood up and saw that my reservoir was topped off, and no noise whatsoever when I turned the wheel.
= not going there again.

Virginia Tire & Auto is now my first choice for tires. I was looking to replace my three year old set of Michelin tires (one tire had a slow leak and all the tires were dry-​rotted) and in doing so, I visited all the big tire shops. For some reason, I couldn’t find a set of four tires to fit my Honda Accord to save my life. Frustrated, I remembered VA Tire & Auto. What was I thinking-​why didn’t I come here first!!!
First, they were friendly. Second, the shop was clean and bright. This was a departure from other tire shops. As I explained my tire needs, they made recommendations and had the tires I wanted in stock… imagine that! They then brought my car into the garage and after a 45-​minute wait, my new tires were installed and I was ready to roll!
I didn’t feel hustled or ripped-​off when dealing with Virginia Tire & Auto. Also, Virginia Tire offers discounts to AAA members and coupon deals on their website.
Seems they know how to treat their customers right.
