Metropolis Remodeling

Metropolis was very professional from start to finish. The estimate they gave me was very competitive and I was extremely happy with the roof they installed on my home. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to get work done from an honest contractor.

After receiving 3 quotes, my wife & I choose Metropolis to replace our windows. Chad was the salesmen who came to our house. He was the most laid back salesmen out of the 3 companies that came out & really didn’t make us feel like it was a life or death issue if we didn’t buy his product. It really made sense the way he explained how we would save money on our energy bills and it was more like educating us instead of trying to sell us. The estimate took a little longer than expected but that doesn’t compare to the savings we’ve seen in our energy bills since the windows were done.
The install process was nothing short of awesome! They started the work 15 days prior to the start-​date on the contract and finished the install within 4 hrs! My wife went grocery shopping the day of the install. She got back while the crew was cleaning up and one of the gentlemen offered to take the bags inside the house. I didn’t know people like that still existed.
The only bad thing about this company is that they don’t remodel bathrooms.

Metropolis knocked on my door and offered me a free estimate in January. We didn’t plan on it, but ended up purchasing 17 windows and 2 doors from them. The sales rep was very nice and knowledgeable. The installation crew was professional and finished everything in one day. They did do a little damage to my drywall when taking out the windows but they came back the next day and fixed it. The clean up was good as well.
Pricing was fair. We had lower estimates, but opted for their triple pane unit. They said they didn’t require a deposit, which we really liked. And giving a 30 day price protection on our contract made us feel comfortable in moving forward.

We had a salesman out 2 nights ago. We were told the estimate/​window measuring would take «about an hour». 4 hours after he arrived, he was berating and badgering us to sign a contract for windows.
The meeting started with him telling us about a marketing opportunity — I felt like we were in a bad timeshare sales dream. All we needed to do was recommend them to our neighbors, not tell them what we paid for the windows (because we were getting a huge discount for being their ‘market home’), and be willing to let people come see our windows. Their great marketing price was more than double what other companies quoted.
After 2 hours, I excused myself to put our child to bed. The salesman refused to continue his pitch til I came back. He just sat there with my husband and refused to talk. Over the years we have rec’d several estimates for work to be performed. Never have we both had to be present to get the estimate!
I thought sleazy, high pressured sales were a think of the past.
Do not waste your time with this company!

They play a back and forth and blame game when you order work through Metropolis! Jan Carlos (JC) lied during the sales pitch… again…“we don’t use subcontractors” was a literal quote. The «model home» pitch… we knew it seemed shady, but only after we had signed the contract. Setting up a measurement date should’ve been easy for them — any day, any time but Thursdays and Fridays. Do they have only one person who can perform this task? This company has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will tell anyone I can about my horrible experiences. I’ll be filing a compliant with the BBB on 4.29.09. I have always returned Greg’s phone calls. Greg called me of the blue one day, having no communication with other departments in his company that the work still wasn’t complete. He wanted to know what they could do to have me remove my yahoo review. After he asked what I wanted him to do about their repeated failure to get the job done and to meet (never tried to exceed) my expectations, I told him I needed to speak to my husband. This was a fair response. You wanted two people there during the sales pitch (where every home is a model home), and I needed to confer with my husband about what would make us happy. I returned Greg’s call two days later and told him I wanted 10% back and they would not receive a «letter of recomendation» or «after» photos. I had a hard time asking for what I wanted. Removing the review would mean other people might experience a similar situation without prior knowledge, even after doing their homework. But, I was hoping my case was isolated. Greg said he’d speak to the owners, but then he never returned my call. I called back twice only to find out he was going to be out of town for 10 days and even then I had to call him, he didn’t call me first to get this settled. As far as the defected windows are concerned, Gary came out attempted to fix them. We had two windows that were defected. That in its self was not a problem, things happen. The problem was the response. Gary said he would order the two parts, one for each window. I got a call from the installation department saying the part was in. They had only ordered one part? More waiting to get this job done. They got the second part in and the windows were fixed. I want to be clear that the windows are great, the company is not, specifically JC and Greg. There are too many other window companies out there vying for your business. Why settle for one who has unhappy customers and, according to the other review, unhappy employees?
In my initial review that during my conversation with JC, during the time of installation, as I was trying to express my anger, JC repeatedly spoke over me. It was extremely rude and unprofessional. After speaking with Greg today, he said they would not be able to give us 10% back because they couldn’t afford to because our job wasn’t big enough. In addition to my above comment. of course the subcontractor is going to deny they offered to sell me doors at the better price. Why would they admit to trying to move in on your clients? The subcontractor’s contract info is: Jay Kim at CK Construction. Jay’s crew was professional, fast and clean… and probably cheaper for the same product. My final words of advice… buyer beware of Metropolis!!!
