Brick & Mortar Coffee

Can’t tell you how impressed I am. So I’ll try.
First, this isn’t a coffee shop, those have frills to keep you desiring their sugar and fake tastes. This is a coffee business. Straight up, the best coffee establishment I’ve been to. I love everything about it.
The menu, simple. Espresso, Slow Bar, cold brew or barista’s choice. I recommend all four. This is not a drive through, though you can get it to go. The flavor is in the bean, not the flavoring. They roast their own to perfection unlike other local drive thru establishments.
The atmosphere is community based, you don’t sit at individual tables, it’s one large table or one large bar to evoke conversation, community partnerships, and a general respect for one another.
They buy their beans from farmers to promote an every growing relationship, and their market is wholesale though they allow us to be impressed at their table. This isn’t for the teen, or quick fix. This is for the coffee lover. I no longer have to have my beans mailed to me, because they do it right.
Open 9a-​5pm for now. I see them growing, expanding and changing the coffee culture as we see it. Their barista’s get it. They take pride in it, and they make an incredible cup of coffee. It’s not a bottomless cup place, that would refer to cheap limitless coffee. It’s by the cup, and if you’ve never had it black, please try it, it’s AMAZING.
For the coffee snob and enthusiast. Business looking to be supplied locally, call them, your customers will be glad you did. Any business that serves Brick and Mortar coffee will have happy guest. Revolutionary, man, can’t tell you enough.
You want sugar, cream, frills and spills, go somewhere else. You want the best cup of coffee in your life (been to Boston and Connecticut, grew up in Michigan, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina…) Hands down, best I’ve ever had.
They love their coffee, they will be opinionated, I asked them to surprise me, and they amazed me. The conversation was great, atmosphere was pleasant, looking forward to watch them grow.

Found these folks when I was in Springfield for a conference and it was a great find! Though they didn’t have a super dark roast, their coffee is super delicious! They gave me a cup on the house!

Unbearably hipster. Service was just fine, but my $ 4 cup of plain, black coffee definitely had undertones of sour milk.
Interesting place.

I’ve been in twice. They make solid coffee and have a very strong coffee culture, but lack in social skills. If conversational skills were implemented with their vast knowledge of coffee, I’d be going there alot more often. As for now I will continue to buy their coffee at local spots such as Mama Jean’s.

Brick and mortar is not your typical coffee shop. You won’t find a huge menu or pastries here. Just freshly ground coffee and a fun atmosphere. I always have the barista make whatever they think is the best drink of the day.
Make sure to get a pound of coffee or 5 before you leave.

Happy to write another review! If pretentiousness and rudeness turn you on then this is the place for you! If waiting a ridiculously long time for seriously overpriced coffee that is not at all as special as they seem to think it is while the «barista» (they don’t like to be called that) mostly ignores you and seems completely bothered to explain anything to you about their products which are listed nowhere at all… then by all means… waste your precious time and hurry in to Brick and Mortar. Hip-​hippy-​hipster. Reminds me a lot of the Nashville scene. The «barista» (surely there is a newer, more hipster name than that… «coffee artist?» «bean connoisseur?») was very helpful and explained that they don’t have any add-​ins in house. Just milk. No decaf. A 3 oz cold brew was $ 4? They even had a coffee that cost 4 times the «regular» coffee because it was so rare. Surely, there are many people who are THIS into their coffee. The atmosphere is very industrial, rustic heavy woods, and americana. Need a nice way to say pretentious? Brick and mortar.

Just moved back into town and heard non-​stop about Brick & Mortar. My husband and I stopped in for a pound of coffee to make at home. The barista came over and was very pleasant to speak with, even showed us the roasters. We used the beans to make pour over and it was pretty good. Unfortunately, the next time we went in, we got the Nitro cold brew. Not the best, but what was worse was that the barista (different person than the original) was mocking a man for coming in and asking for a frappé. I get it — not the «coffee-​ist» of drinks, but also not worth mocking someone over (especially in front of other customers). If Brick & Mortar wants to be a place that encourages a good cup of coffee and conversation, hopefully they start with their own staff. The beans were good, the experience wasn’t one I’d like to repeat.

My brother-​in-​law brought me here when I was visiting for the holidays. The big city feel in the small city of Springfield. They even have an electric car charger in the back where the parking is (gasp). Started with some cold brew, then a pour over, and finally finished with a cappuccino. All drinks were fragrant and rich with flavor. Great prices (similar to Starbucks, but way higher in quality). Baristas were friendly and fun to talk to. Will definitely be back whenever I’m in town.

Imagine the scene from Star Wars Episode IV where Luke, Leia, and the rest of the gang hop into the trash compactor to escape from the storm troopers. If you took an empty coffee mug and scooped up the juice from the bottom of that very trash compactor, it would taste like the polar opposite of Brick & Mortar’s coffee.
TL;DR — This coffee is nothing like trash juice. Drink it.

This place is legit. Roast their own beans and killing it. So good. Love the vibe. Love the staff. Super friendly and fun. Great music. The furniture is so cool too.
I had a pour over with their El Salvador and a cap with the Burundi. Both were exquisite.
So basic summary: Great cup. Great hang.

Amazing coffee! Great atmosphere. If you like artisan coffee (not Starbucks) this place is for you! It is not fast food coffee. Slow, individually made cups of coffee with care and attention to detail. Don’t come here if you are in a hurry or are going to pour a ton of sweetener in your coffee.(although I’m pretty sure they will let you) This place is for true coffee lovers! Once a week they have tastings (like wine) where you can sample and pick out beans to take home. Cool place!

The staff here is very helpful! A very unique coffee experience, with no sugar or syrups in sight. Great coffee and great experience.

The employees here are top notch! They’ll help you choose a cup if you’re new to black coffee and will serve you with a smile the whole way. All they have is black coffee (no sugar, no creamer, but only milk for their lattes). This is honestly the best coffee I have ever had, but most importantly they introduced me to the vast world of coffee. The prices are decent and the coffee is spectacular. Go on in and try a cup.

In a world where speed, generic customer service and mediocre products are the norm, BRICK & MORTAR COFFEE provides a refreshing throwback to the quality and service of the days when men and women cared about their trade and provided a quality product with quality service! This isn’t your typical pretentious hipster pop up coffee shop, these guys do there homework and know there product.
I was impressed from the start with my first experience here as I was greeted and served with a knowledgable staff and a fantastic ambience. I immediately appreciated the care and commitment to their trade as my server Jordan explained where the coffee came from and how they processed and prepared it. I’ve been back a few times since and always enjoyed my experience, it’s opened my eyes to tasting coffee and not just drinking it!

Brick and mortar offers a dry, pretentiousness throughout with prominent notes of arrogance rounded out by a self-​important finish.

Imagine a hipster. No one specific, just the most stereotypical image your brain can conjure when you read that word. That’s who you’re dealing with. More importantly, that’s the attitude you’re dealt. It’s awful. Be prepared to be judged and scoffed at like you could never really know anything about coffee or anything else if you don’t look just like that stereotype you just imagined.
To be fair, the coffee is almost good enough to actually WANT to put up with the service.

The staff is knowledgeable about their product, and it is prepared with care and precision. It’s one of the best cups of coffee I’ve had in Springfield, made unnecessarily extra bitter by the attitude with which it’s served.

Artisan coffee at its best.
This is 5 star coffee from start to finish. They roast their specialty grade coffee on site and do a great job roasting it. The baristas are very knowledgeable and are well trained in their craft.
For my first visit, I went with a cold brew coffee. It was very rich and smooth. Next time I will try an aeropress.
