Typical non Smith Street Spec’s. Decent, but not exceptional selection of all things beer, wine, and liquor. Some beer bottles seem a little old or past its prime, and the Bourbon selection needs some serious beefing up. Nobody has ever offered to help me find anything the few times I have visited. Not that I usually need help, but it is always nice to show the effort. Anyway, for the area this isn’t bad but many better spots in the general Houston Metro area for beer and Bourbon.

Came for wine to pair with the pork I made for dinner. The guy who helped me was spot on. He recommended a great Pino Noir, in my price range and listened to all my requests. They also offered to special order a beer I wanted but they didn’t have. Great service.

Mmmmmmm my friends and I decided to run in a few minutes before closing. Staff was awesome. They went out if their way to help us and didnt make us feel like they were rushing us out the door because it was almost closing time. Well done Specs!

This is not a new Spec’s. This is not a shiny Spec’s. The doors fold sideways and give you a blast from the past. The inconvenient entrances to the parking lot make you hold your breath until you are parked safely. Anyone who reads my reviews knows it is all about the beer — I have been spoiled by the TWO gigantic Spec’s in Tomball — and this location did not let me down. In no specific order(and not all I was excited about): Unibroue, Flying Dog, Left Hand, Karbach, Ommegang, and Buffalo Bayou. The employees are attentive and knowledgeable on the beers that they carry, and the cashiers are such sticklers for the rules that; even when I become a regular, I feel will still ID me without a smile. Best beer selection near Sawdust.

I have to agree with previous things pointed out by a couple Unilocalers. This must be the Texas version of Bevmo and the parking is rather odd, or more so the location itself is cockeyed to me. Though all symmetrical mind boggling placement of this establishment aside, this is an adult candy store. I was in awe as I browsed slowly through the aisles, so many choices, so many awesome looking bottles of libations I’ve not yet tasted. Nonetheless I came in here looking for specifics in the beer department. I was pretty impressed with the selection they even had one of the two I wanted. One of the two, the sadness set in a little with just finding the one, Santa Fe Imperial Java Stout. But, hey I’ll take the one over none. An employee«attempted» to help me locate the other booze I was seeking by using their inventory list which is available to the public(Suppose I should have looked their myself first). But no luck, maybe next time, which I’m sure there will be a next or two or three. Sidebar: Use debit card still counts as cash for that small discount you get for not using credit.

No one will agree with me. But here is my point of view. If easy access is a goal, this place fails. The parking lot is very inconvenient. It is very busy and downright hazardous because it’s so crowded and poorly designed.(Not to mention that people cut through the parking lot from the I-45 feeder road so they won’t have to wait for the light to make a right hand turn on Rayford) Also, the staff may be really well-versed. However, depending on when you shop, you’re lucky to catch anyone’s attention when you need help. A large percentage of the employees are primarily interested in socializing with each other — so much so that I feel as if I’m intruding on their personal lives. Though there are of course some very dedicated employees, there are way too many that aren’t so dedicated. The selection at any Specs is excellent. And it can be fun just to browse around even if you’re not looking for anything fancy or exotic. However, I’ve never had much of a problem finding what I want at smaller liquor stores. But then, I’m not a big wine drinker and I tend to stick to your typical better brands of liquor that can be found just about anywhere. I’d rather pay a few dollars more for the convenience of my neighborhood liquor store. Sorry, Specs.

I think this is the Bevmo of Texas. I have to say that I love coming here. Booze as far as they eye can see, or at least to the opposing wall. They have a huge selection of pretty much anything you want. Rum? Have it. Tequila? Lots of it. Gin? Yes, we haz it. I like their beer selection as well, found some new stuff that I just can’t get in California. Shiner Seasonal is my current favorite. It has a grapefruit and ginger flavor. I just can’t describe it, it’s that good! Uhm, I guess the only knock would have to be their haphazard cash register line. It just seems like it it was thrown together quickly.

One of the biggest Spec’s in the area, but there are bigger and better further toward and in Houston. Better prices than the locations in the woodlands too. Parking is ok, but getting back out is a BITCH. Prepare to be patient and careful… Will go back, and make special trips to do so :) Fairly often actually ;)

Great selection of alcohol drinks, including wine. I come in today looking for a bottle of sweet wine to accompany the dinner I cooked for my husband. There was a couple of employees who asked me if I needed help and I said yes. They recommended a wine called Reunite which I ended up buying and we really liked it. But anyway, going back to my experience. I proceeded to the registers. Both registers were busy I waited for my turn. Well, while I was waiting, two guys well dressed(they looked like office people) came to stand beside me waiting to check out. I didn’t think much of it. When the first register was free the cashier asked the two guys if they needed help(totally ignoring me). They proceeded to pay. Excuse me, am I invisible. This made me so mad. How rude was that. After two minutes the next cashier was available and I paid for my wine. I did not say anything since the next cashier was available after only two minutes. But this experience made me not want to go back. I will look for another Spec’s liquor store. One star — for clean and organized 2nd star — great recommendation from ONE employee 3rd star — variety of drinks

I’ve been to and reviewed other Specs locations before, but I checked this one out yesterday because it was along my route home from Houston to DFW. I love Specs because they always have all the German beer that I can’t find anywhere else, and their alcohol is very decently priced. It’s like a candy store for an adult. Or just for me. Whatever. Anyways, aside from the 10 staff members roaming around, asking me every 5 minutes if I need help finding anything(which, to be honest, got really annoying, and quickly), this seemed to me just like any other Specs. I didn’t like how crowded it was, because the Holcombe one I always went to was never like that. It was more crowded than the grocery store. Anyways, here’s what saved my review from being only 3 stars. Are you ready for this?: Hofbrau hefe weizen. That’s right. My absolute favorite beer, and this is the only place I’ve found it since I moved away from Alpine Village in California. At $ 6.99 for a 6-pack, I bought 2. I wanted to buy 3… but I restrained myself. I had looked at the other Specs stores I went to, hoping to find this… and even at a couple of liquor warehouses in Ft. Worth, and this was this first time I’ve found this beer. Sorry ya’ll… but Pyramid and Widmer just don’t cut it. Until they open Specs in Ft. Worth, I’m gonna be a sad girl.
