Okay I admit, I still like to occasionally eat hot dogs. I’ve been eating JCI for over 40 years. I don’t eat them as often as I did when I was younger but sometimes I just feel like a good ol’ JCI hot dog(3 – 4) and a bowl of chili, especially when the weather turns colder. So this time I had just 3 chili/cheese coney’s. I was in the area out for a motorcycle ride and it just sounded good. Well guess what. They were delicious. I really like their original hot sauce on the dogs too. The place is always clean, including thew restroom and service fast. Today the staff was very friendly and while they were semi-busy it was still a quiet and nice environment. I enjoyed watching college football on one of there many televisions too. Others chose to sit on their patio as it was a beautiful day. So they get 4 stars(they always manage a 3 or 4 for me) not a five. After all it is still a hot dog joint. Nothing really special(except the memories of eating JCI with my family for me) but the service, food, cleanliness and cheerful staff have all been consistent at this location.

Always a good meal reasonably-priced and so very clean. I often get the chili pie but also like the turkey burger all the way … don t forget about the dipped icecream cone for dessert. …

I love James Coney Island… I have been eating at their locations my entire life. Not often because its not exactly health food but small doses won’t hurt anyone. I would recommend eating the classic cheese coneys with their signature cheeze whiz not grated cheese. Definitely specify. Its a culinary experience that should be tasted by everyone. Something about it always makes me Smile afterwards.

Came in after on a Sunday afternoon after a long day of apartment hunting. I had been craving JCI for the longest and I figured why not end my day with a yummy treat! I walked in, it wasn’t too busy, but it looked like a little hang out spot for the older folks in the area. I didn’t care, I just wanted my hot dog! The place was super clean(along with the bathrooms) so I was good that! The little boy at the counter didn’t have the best people skills because I didn’t get a «hey how are you» or anything or even a smile, just a «what are you getting today?» Not even in a perky tone, just kind of like a «hurry up because I’m ready to go» tone. I asked him one more time how he was doing and finally got a response. Greetings are huge deal for me, if you don’t ask me how I’m doing or greet me in any way, I’m going to as you how are you doing until you do! Like I said, it’s one my pet peeves and it’s customer service 101! Anyways, I ordered the Texas style dog and fries with the fresh lemonade! It was so good and it was out right away! So like I said it was a great way to end my day and I’ll be back!

I had a really good experience. The food and service was great. We were greeted and the food was served quickly. I tried the coney cheese steak and was impressed. I will frequent again. There was a lot to choose from with the gourmet hotdog menu.

Clean location and friendly staff. Went there to try The Redneck Dawg! It was awesome, made me a James Coney Island lover.

This place is all about hot dogs. I ordered up their Chicago dog and a chili cheese dog. I was suprised that the chilli cheese dog was much better than the chicago dog,…which to me was a big let down. Any way this place is really more for kids than anything. I do like the deals they have on wednseday I think they had something where kids get free hot dogs with the order of a combo meal. Sundays regular dogs or cheese dogs are only 99 cents. The people taking the order were very nice.

James, you’ve broken my heart. I grew up eating at James Coney Island. Specifically the downtown store(now long gone) with all the school desks. They made a sublime Texas hot dog — skinny dog, soft but slightly chewy bun, uniquely delicious thin chili, cheese, chopped onions. Combined with a bag of Fritos and a Dr Pepper, this was pretty much the perfect meal when you’re 9 years old. In later years I ate at the JCI near Sharpstown mall. While it was lacking in the gritty charm of the original location, the hot dogs were the same. Fast forward to the 21st century. James Coney Island is now a local fast-food empire, with locations all around town. I was in the mood, so I headed to the Woodlands-area location on Sawdust. What a mistake. The classic JCI hot dog was terrible — the bun was gummy, the hot dog itself tasted as if it had been cost reduced, and the chili was bland and dull. Since this wasn’t going to do the trick, I tried the polish sausage, a favorite of mine. It too was lacking, no flavor and unevenly cooked(how can you unevenly cook a hot dog?) Those who remember and loved the original JCI hot dogs need to avoid this place, less their memories be spoiled with the shallow imitation of the real thing.

Very clean very well staffed location I have been here 4 – 5 times now and never had to have an order corrected None of them will ever be as good as the Downtown Houston original location {that’s no longer open} which is why I could never give any of the chain stores a 5 star rating ever but this one is the closest to it I have had
