I had a 60 foot pine that had to be removed as it was threatening my house foundation. It was going to be a very difficult removal as it was over 85 feet from the street, there was no place to safely drop even the branches, let alone the trunk. The crew from Atlas brought 2 different cranes, 3 trucks and a crew of 6. That tree was gone, to the ground level in 4 hours, cleaned up and off the street. Totally professional, awesome attitudes, great service. Price was better than others I had out to quote the job and it was done faster than any other estimate.

I saw one of your drivers almost cause three major accidents on the freeway, clearly not paying attention. Make sure your drivers can operate a vehicle before putting them on the road.

Very put off by receptionist. Called saying I was interested in a quote to cut down trees based on suggestions from neighbors. First question asked was if I was new customer, I said yes. Continued to ask me about 5 more questions about my needs, then cut me off when answering what part of San Diego to say sorry, they can’t accept any new customers.
I understand not being able to take care of new customers, but should probably address that sooner in the call. Very, very off-​putting.

Nice salesman, but their labor force can not keep up with their marketing campaigns. Had they showed up they probably would have done an excellent job.

We had 3 trees that look like they need to be trimmed. We knew enough to not want to top them, and that we should call a professional.
Met with Ron for the quote (similar to another company’s), and a crew came out in the same week. Not knowing how tree trimming should happen, we left the crew to do their work. After they were done, the trees look considerably thinned, but again, not being knowledgeable about good pruning practices, we thought nothing of it.
A few things we did notice:
A lower branch we had requested be cut back was still there. So we put a call in, and they came back out to take care of it.
We also requested hedge & stump removal. We found a big stump still left. Again, put a call in, and they came back out to take care of it.
Annoying, but not deal breakers.
But then recently another arborist came by for a consult on another matter, and he pointed out that our trees were lion-​tailed. Most of the inner branches were trimmed out, with only puffs at the end of long branches were left. Go ahead, google it up and read how most tree professionals think this practice damages trees.
Our trees look like the poster children of lion’s tailing. Branches were swinging in the wind, which doesn’t scream stability and more likely to lead to breakage. The damage Atlas did to our trees can’t be reversed in a short time. It will take time for our trees to regrow their inner branches. We plan on having our trees regularly maintained as necessary, and *was* planning on calling Atlas again. But not anymore! The least we can do is warn others — educate yourselves first, and don’t simply trust the professionals (especially Atlas!), even when they’re supposed to have trained arborists on the job.

Ron came out and looked at everything, we put a plan together and today the guys came out and trimmed & shaped all of my trees. I was so happy I had to take a min to put in a good review! The guys arrived early, got all set up, I was shocked how good the trees looked… the transformation was amazing. When they were finished I walked through with them, they were happy to make a few changes for me. And, most importantly, they cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend them.
Everyone was professional, couldn’t be happier!

We had just moved into our new house with 4 huge (over 60 ft.) 40+ year eucalyptus trees that were in need of pruning. We had Ron come out and assess the trees — all healthy, he said. So, we went ahead and had Atlas come and prune all 4. Now 2 of the 4 are DEAD and 1 more doesn’t look so good. The only one that looks like it’s going to survive is one that had a hawk’s nest in it, so we told Ron not to prune it back too much.
We just got through paying another arborist $ 2,800 to remove the trees that Atlas killed — by over-​pruning! Under no circumstances should you use this company! My husband and I are sick over these tress — if we just hadn’t had them pruned (by Atlas anyway), they would be alive today — huge, beautiful, healthy trees… now DEAD! My husband called Ron when we first suspected the trees were dying and Ron was supposed to come out and take a look and get back to us… guess what? We never heard from him! Also, the crew broke off my cactus and scratched the hell out of the neighbor’s truck when they were removing branches.
Please, if you want to keep your trees, DON’T USE ATLAS.

Atlas Tree Service has performed tree trimming throughout our Community on several occasions. Their prices are reasonable and they do an adequate job. However, their trimming is more about maintenance than artistry. Also, the attached photos show they perform minimal clean up.

All this company is interested in is making a few bucks. They came into our area and tore it all up. Cut down trees that did not need to be so they could put a few buck in their pockets. They left a mess and their works were cussing the whole time when the saws were not running DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!

There was no Arborist on that job.
No Education, No Professional Training, No Professional Experience and no
English speakers.
Violated all the Rules of Education and the Science of tree care.
Many stub cuts.
No concept of basics like Immune system violation.
Butchering trees out of season like Pines, Olives.
Put all the trees under stress dramatically and at the hottest time of year.
Absolutely no concept of the Art and Science of Trimming Not Butchering!!!
Much of the damage is permanent.
Altas overprunes to show the work done is worth the price.
Most of the trees are weaker and under stress because of them.
You get what you pay for.
Ron fools you about quality and workmanship – none.
The sad thing is most people don’t know about tree care so unprofessional companies can fooooool you into thinking hacking is good.
Unprofessional crews phony company.
Literally illiterate in tree care.
They are liabel for the way they ruin most trees.
It takes just as long and just as much work and costs the same to do it right.
Atlas likes doing it wrong and they are verrrrry goood at it…

This company was prompt and professional. I bought a property with a large lot and many mature neglected fruit and other types of trees. They sent out a professional arborist, Ron, who knew his trees and also this area, and the crew did a beautiful job trimming the trees and cleaning up afterwards. I would definitely hire them again.

So totally impressed with professionalism, price, quality. Trees have never looked better!

The Fire Safe Council used Atlas to do our brush chipping and I was very impressed with the quality of service. Nick inspected our brush piles, he was on time, polite, took the time to answer our questions and called as requested to let us know when the crew would arrive. The young men on the chipping crew were very courteous and worked hard. I will be happy to use them again when needed.

This would be a zero if I could! In all the years I have lived in my home I have never experienced a company just not showing up and not calling when I had an appointment scheduled with them! My home is a little hard to find and without fail people have to call and ask for additional directions. That said, Ron never called and never showed up. When I called to ask where they were the customer service agent said she would see what she could do. After waiting another 15 minutes I called AGAIN! Her response was «He has a busy schedule and couldn’t find it». They had my phone number and if you are too busy, don’t make an appointment and waste my time!

The folks at Atlas came out to rectify a long neglected tree situation.
Ron evaluated the trees and discussed a suitable course of action. In fact, he suggested doing less work than what I thought was needed. Trusting his judgment, I agreed. Glad I did. Am still impressed with how good the overgrown pepper tree turned out (and I had wanted it removed– silly me!). Really turned an ugly, neglected tree into something eye appealing.
Cost– reasonable. Less than what I had expected.
I felt that I could trust Atlas to do the job without my ‘supervising’ them (had to work that day). And I was right. They showed up as scheduled, took care of business. Everything I’d asked them to do was attended to. Nothing omitted (hate when that happens). They left the yards neat and tidy. Hauled off all the removed trees and branches. Comforting to know one can trust a vendor to take care of business properly.
I should add: I’d just bought this place, Had no idea what all trees I had and what was needed to take proper care of them. So Ron freely «spilled his guts» educating me. Told me what trees I had and how to take care of each one. Most grateful for this. He is one very knowledgeable arborist.

I’ve contacted them 3 times over a two week period and can’t get a call back. Once by filling out their online estimate form. I called the number another 2 times. Haven’t heard a word from them.

We contracted Atlas to trim our monster 150′ pine tree and small magnolia tree. Ron came out and gave us an estimate, saying it would take roughly 3 hours (compared to the other estimates of 2 days). He was not joking. His crew was amazing, sculpting the trees beautifully and cleaning up immaculately. This company is the most professional tree company I have ever used — friendly and personal, returning emails and phone calls promptly, and highly committed to customer satisfaction.

We received multiple estimates to remove a 75′ tall eucalyptus tree that was dangerously hanging over our neighbors home. In terms of price Atlas actually beat a number of small outfits that I was sure would have cost less money. The guys that came out to remove our tree were super professional and I cant image having used a smaller outfit. What they did to safely remove the tree was nothing short of aerial acrobatics. It was amazing and took 4 guys. They also ground the stump. About 6 months later I removed some of the dirt and found left over stump. They came out the next week and removed what was left for free. Cant say enough good things about the experience. Thank you Atlas!

We have used Atlas Tree Service for almost ten years now and they continue to have such great service. Ron, our arborist knows his pines. He introduced us to our Monterey Pine when we first bought our house and he continues to prune and groom it every two years. They also do the eucalyptus grove in Morley Field. If you have any large trees that need maintenance and pruning then Atlas is the best in town. They are clean and tidy before, during and after the work is done.
