Doolan’s Shore Club

YES DEFINITELY 5 STARS. Recently had our daughter’s wedding and reception here. Over the top fancy, professional, catered to our every whim (and we had a few!), elegant, smooth-​clockwork progression of evening’s events and that’s even before I mention the FOOD!!! Guests raved about the FOOD! Delicious to the last bite. Filet was cooked to perfection and all plates were piping hot. Guests left utterly satisfied. Would recommend this venue to handle weddings and receptions of all sizes. They are prepared and ready to make your day very, very special. Big thanks to Susan, Barbara, Gilbert and so many more for going out of their way.

We went on a Saturday night (they picked it and were worried we wouldn’t like it, we are in our 30’s and live in Manhattan) so I walked in and they had live entertainment
I felt like I stepped back in time to like a frank Sinatra show. It was so beautiful with then Christmas trees and other décor

Full dining room, wedding, party, it was jumping for a January night
Would I go here with a group of friends to sit at the bar? –No
Would I want to stay here in the summer– no
Would I get married here. No
Would I have a lovely dinner and some fun with the family and treated like family yes!
We sat down, we had reservations (you needed them!!) the place was packed
They were so busy!!!
So the owner came over and said what can I get you to drink that was nice (since they were slammed)
FOOD–
Bread was good with butter
We had the calamari it was cooked great
And the sauce was so great it was like an applesauce garlic it was very unique

Surf and turf, with a lobster tail, filet, asparagus, salad or soup, potatoes, dessert and a glass of wine! Unheard of!!! For 29.95!!! What the hell! And mine was good

The mash potatoes were the worst! Get the fries! Or the baked potato (which they ran out of) and I also tired the roasted potatoes not great either but hey it’s a potato even bad they are good
The dessert I got was the lemon cake OMG yum!
Mom had sea salt Carmel good

I went in thinking it’s a shore place from the 70’s family owned and a nice night with the parents and I had a great time! The waitress was amazing too

If I could give this place negative stars I would. The place is stuck in the 70’s where it was acceptable to serve shitty wedding food, well it’s that way today.
1. Drinks suck, no talent making them. Zero creativity lacking flavor and everything.
2. Service slow and amateur
3. Ambiance, if I was 95 with an oxygen tent in the early 70’s with no taste buds it still would be bad
4. Food taste and quality. ZERO, my stomach is rumbling
5. Avoid this place like they are serving the West Nile virus or you could catch Ebola
My my was trying to treat us to a nice jersey shore place, she was so disappointed.
We will never return, unless the burn the place down. This review might sound hard but it’s the 100% truth. I don’t like to leave something bad but others must know

Well after reading all these reviews I was expecting the worst… Sometimes when you expect the worse even average is good but in this case I have to say everything I read here does not really portray anything close to the experience we had here this past Saturday Evening.
A good friend of mine was doing a Holiday Show here which included dinner, and overnight accommodations in a ‘Newly remodeled Delux room”. Price seemed reasonable so 4 couples partook in the evenings festivities. 1^st off checked in no problem and shows room by nice ladies in reception. Large room yes remodeled but certainly dated with older furnishings etc. Large sofa flat screen TV, two small separate bathrooms and large bedroom with clean fresh linens and very soft mattress not my liking but it wasn’t cheap just soft. In short only thing wrong with the room was water pressure was pretty much non existent and size of the bath towels were all hand size towels. Other than that for 1 night price point was adequate.
Walked to lobby bar for pre-​show cocktails and its decorated very nicely for Christmas with large tree and various other holiday ornaments. Nice place to have a cocktail are some holiday photos and enjoy yourself before the show. staff was accommodating assisting us take photos etc and there was no rush to get us into the showroom to have dinner.
Finally make our way to round table comfortable seating for us… Meal was BRISK as we were last to be seated and I guess they wanted us serviced before show started. Choice of Cream of Mushroom soup or Ceasar salad. Soup was very good lukewarm but good salad was fine. Choice of entrée 2 pieces sliced filet mignon with potatoes and asparagus everything on plate was exceptional for this type feeding and envoirnment. Nobody had the chicken but the Salmon topped with spicy sauce and greens was exceptional as well. Apple pie all mode was very good as well.
Show was great service was spot on, all night with our wine bottles ordered replaced timely and drink ordered filled as well.
Surely do not see all the negatives here as for the 8 of us we had an exceptional time, with good food, wonderful ambiance, a sufficient room, great performance and show. A good time was enjoyed by all Merry Christmas.

My family attended the Thanksgiving buffet at Doolan’s this year. I personally have not eaten at Doolan’s previously but other family had done so fairly recently and strongly endorsed the food. I wish I could agree with them. When signing up for a buffet with timed seating, one accepts a certain cruise ship crowd and ambience, with the hope that the food quality and preparation will compensate.
Unfortunately, that was not the case. First, diners were seated in a different room from where the food was located. This was no doubt done to accommodate more tables in the dining area. Therefore, one had to walk out of the room where seated, and down a small number of steps into another room where staff were gathered by food category — salads, sides, and main courses. So while it was nice to be able to create your own salad — nothing special here — it did mean carting the salad back to your table and eating it before making a second trip in to pick up your plate with your main course and sides. There was a tasty cherry tomato salad with garlic dressing that made a nice compliment to an otherwise standard set of salad offerings.
Main courses were what you would expect on Thanksgiving — turkey, fresh ham, roast beef — with the notable addition of baked salmon, and a ravioli dish (a bone for vegetarians, I can only assume). Sides included sweet potatoes in a casserole, roasted herb potatoes, squash with brussel sprouts, and green beans. My wife and I both had the salmon, which while tasty enough, seemed to be drowned in a butter sauce. The nature of salmon is such that the fish itself contains enough oil that, unless overcooked (which can easily happen when baked), no heavy additional sauces should be necessary.
But then, this buffet was all about ‘heavy’ wasn’t it? The crowd was there to gorge itself on cuts of meat, most of which they drowned in a sticky brown gravy — so who in the kitchen would worry about the preparation of the salmon? Further, all of the baked veggies were overcooked, the result possibly of sitting in serving trays or more likely being cooked along with all of the meat in the same hot ovens. One can only assume that more attention tby he overworked kitchen staff was paid to making sure the meats were not overdone than the vegetables.
In general, most complained about food being lukewarm at best by the time they returned to their seats with their plates. I was able to get through about half of what I had requested before consciously noting that it was essentially cold. And one can’t send it back to the kitchen for a reheat treatment at a buffet.
Desserts were served in the room where seated and, while there were many choices, the results were decidely mixed. Pumpkin pie tasted store bought but the cocunut cream pie met expectations. But again, most people, including the few children in attendance, fell for the chocolate dipped strawberries and rich cakes. How they had room for them after filling up on cuts of meat I don’t know, but these things happen at a buffet.
Service — such as it was — was polite but inattentive at best. The few at our table who ordered either soft drinks or wine had them delivered to the wrong people. The staff was pressed due to the timed nature of the buffet.
One final comment: Doolans needs to fix the floor in the banquet room. I felt as if I really was on a cruise ship everytime one of the servers or another guest walked behind me as a number of floor boards literally moved under my chair and a portion of the table.
Next year, we’ll be eating at home again.

This place was a disaster! Worst hotel that I have ever been to! The room we had was literally falling apart. It was in great disrepair. We complained to the manager and she offered a second room but was not sympathetic at all. She shrugged her shoulders and handed us a new room key. I asked is this room better? Her response was I don’t know! We looked at the second room and it was equally as bad. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.

Chicken was fabulous! However, someone in my party ordered the filet well done. They brought a sirloin extra rare instead. Didn’t want to wait for another meal to be cooked. So I shared my chicken so we could all eat at the same time. They took 2 beers off our tab, but should have taken the price of the filet off the tab.

Stayed at their «motel» for a wedding and let me tell you how disappointed we were when we entered our rooms. First thing you notice is the out of date décor along with the dinosaur TV. The lighting was bleak and the bathroom, especially the tub, was in need of a good bleaching. Tattered carpeting, ceiling tiles bowing and water stained, mildewy odor emanating from shower curtain. WiFi non existent! Pool didn’t look too inviting either. Needed to be vacuumed. Didn’t make for a pretty picture!
Okay on to the wedding venue. The food was not the best but not the worst either. Again, décor outdated. Cocktail hour was well I guess average. Can’t give an honest opinion since I really didn’t get to eat much. Room was too small for the amount of people and you’re left standing holding a drink in one hand and a plate in the other. They should have opened the doors to the patio. The dance floor was how can I put this, tacky, not by looks, but by feel. The waitstaff were good, however, sometimes a bit obtrusive, reaching over you or in between people, etc.
If you’re looking for a very inexpensive venue to hold your wedding, then this is it. Otherwise, brides and grooms, save your money and look elsewhere!

Went to Doolan’s Shore Club last Sat night b/​c our fav entertainer was playing here for the 1^st time (and it was my b’day ;) We «got a room» so we could drink & not worry bout the 30 min drive home; and although we had a great time, we were disappointed with the food, the service & the accommodations — 3 for 3 — yowza!
The hubster & I both had clams casino apps which were dry & flavorless; and the worse part was that we saved the bread to sop up the juices but sadly there was nothing to sop — never, ever seen this before (but explains why it was so dry!)
Arriving way too soon, were the entrees: Surf & Turf for him — a tiny tail but he said the steak «wasn’t bad» (for the price he should have been applauding). I had the Seafood Combo (shrimp scallops, clams and a crab cake) — aridly dry and overpriced for the portion. We don’t mind paying for good food, but these portions were ridiculous!
After dancing the night away, we headed to «the room». First impression: half-​done. Seemed like they started a re-​model and ran out of money, but the place was clean… we weren’t … b/​c we couldn’t shower with the lukewarm water. The towels, tissues & TP were like sandpaper but there was a really comfy duvet on the bed.
Like I said, we had a great time, danced a lot, met some nice people and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, but it had nothing to do with the venue. Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend. And, BTW FYI — most of the other diners were in the 75+ age group.

Went to a wedding here recently. The cocktail hour was pretty terrible. They were cooking sliders on a hot plate and the baked ziti was absolutely gross. The venue hasn’t been updated in decades. The floor in the cocktail hour room looked like it belonged in the Brady Bunch kitchen. The service was terrible. The linens on the table were dirty. The «filet mignon» was closer to a bad t-​bone. It was also microwaved. Just a terrible place don’t waste your money.
