Spokane Music Institute Is the brain child of Kit Ehrgood. When kit was asked what music has given him he realized that music had tought him that he was good enough, that he had something to offer. a feeling of self worth and pride. Music has given him the tools to make it through the challenges in life. The thought that people might not experience this joy does not compute to him. So he decided to bring music into the lives of people who are both fortunate and those who might might not have acess to music education. Located in the heart of the Historic Garland Arts district, SMI offers a secure, inspiring, place to learn, practice, and ultimately connect with others. Our intent is to provide the finest education available to the aspiring student or the seasoned pro. With many outreach programs available everyone has the opportunity to realize and explore their creative potential. Simply put music education provides opportunity.

Business Owner

Kit Ehrgood is no stranger to music. He was born in San Antonio Texas and at age seven started taking lessons from Allen Collins of Lynyrd Skynyrd. By age thirteen, Kit was playing multiple instruments, performing in church choirs, jazz ensembles and gypsy fairs. After a severe illness in high school, Kit moved to Hawaii and became fascinated by the culture of music from around the world. He continued to pursue his passion and by the early 1990’s was opening for major recording artists, touring, and ended up producing several bands. Since then Kit has authored several music theory books, created an organization which helps inner city kids afford instruments, lessons, and tutoring for all school subjects (see S.A.Y. music.) He founded Spokane Music Institute which will offer high school and accredited classes. Kit has scored music for radio, motion pictures, and websites. His vast knowledge, creativity and gift in teaching makes Kit one of the most sought after instructors in the are
