«Beautiful Water Falls in the Center of the City« My wife and I visited the Gorgeous Spokane Falls last week in Spokane Washington. Spokane Falls is the name of a waterfall and dam on the Spokane River, located in the central business district in downtown Spokane, Washington. The city of Spokane was also initially named«Spokane Falls».The Indian name for the Spokane Falls was«Stluputqu», meaning«swift water». The falls was once the site of a large Spokane people village. The falls consists of an Upper Falls and a Lower Falls. The Upper Falls is the site of the Upper Falls Dam, a diversion dam constructed in 1920 that directs the water into the Upper Falls intake on the south channel of the Spokane River. Both Upper Falls and Lower Falls dams are operated by the power company Avista. With the Fall Trees colorful foliage in the back ground, the Spokane Falls is a wonderful and relaxing site to see on your trip to Spokane Washington.

Nice tourist attraction in the middle of the downtown. Grab some lunch and stroll through the park. Make sure to walk across the suspension bridge OR even take a ride on the air tram over the falls. it’s air conditioned on the inside and a nice escape from the heat.

Suspension bridge only for pedestrians + Spokane River + Spokane Falls = a must visit! This could be one of my favourite falls with a suspension bridge. It’s truly stunning for a falls which isn’t famous for its height, but one can really apppreciate the views from the suspension bridge. I love the halfway point of the falls as it takes you through a little island. After, it will take you to another section of the suspension bridge. This is a relaxing site to enjoy the sound of the raging water and the rock formations on the river. No wonder it was chosen as the site for Expo ’74!
