The Safe Place

I was shopping for a safe in Honolulu, Hawaii and couldn’t find an American built safe. I came across The Safe Place online and viewed their many safe models they carried. I ended up buying a Winchester Tradition 19 from them. I made the order online and was called the following day that there would be an additional shipping charge to Hawaii. They would also crate the safe and have it shipped the following day. I agreed to the additional charge and completed the transaction. I received an electronic invoice with a tracking number. It took two weeks to arrive. I was called by the freight forwarder that my safe arrived. We scheduled the delivery date and time. The safe came fully crated with all of the documents.
I am pleased with the service I got from The Safe Place. I am also happy with my safe. I want to thank Bob or Bill for helping me over the phone and shipping it to Hawaii.

If I could give minus 5 stars I would. I ordered a Liberty gun safe through their web site. Nate in charge of the warehouse emailed to let me know they didn’t have a Liberty and suggested a Winchester. I looked at Winchester online and it was similar to the Liberty so I ordered it. To make a long story short it arrived damaged and the delivery driver (selected by the safe place) said the left rear pedestal was damaged and suggested I send it back. It was still packaged but very unstable so I sent it back. Nate emailed me again and said the temporary pedestal they put on for shipment was damaged and there was nothing wrong with the safe. He said they would replace the pedestal and suggested they ship it back to me. I said ok and they shipped it back. I should mention they selected the shipping company and promised I would be notified before it arrived so I could arrange to have it moved into the house from the street. Guess what, it arrived on a Saturday with no notice. Between the driver who was very good, my son and myself we managed to get it into the family room, one room away from its home. We quickly took the packaging off and the driver left. We soon realized the same back left pedestal was damaged. After moving it to it’s permanant location I was started removing the pedestals and when I got to the damaged one the bolt just turned and would not come off. The bolt holding the pedestal was stripped and from the floor I could see considerable damage to the safe itself. I sent an email to Nate who apologized and told me he would have Bill the owner call me. That is when the problem really started. He made every excuse in the book regarding how it got damaged and swore it was not damaged when they shipped it the second time even though it was the same back corner of the safe. He blamed Amazon packaging, and stated they charged me too much, he blamed me for not selecting the correct packaging, he blamed the shippers, etc. I ordered the safe through their web site not Amazon; they packaged the safe and selected the shipper. He was so busy making excuse he never offered a solution. You get the idea, I could go on with his excuses for a while, but in the end it was very obvious he shipped the safe knowing it was damaged. It was extremely dirty so I am pretty sure someone else refused it and it resided in the warehouse collecting dust until I came along. I have photos of the damage and the dirt if anyone is interested. A horrible place to do business although Nate was really nice and cooperative throughout, it’s the owner who is the problem.

I was looking for a small safe willing to buy on the spot but was rushed to look at a couple safes then immediately digaurded me for another customer without answering my questions.
Lack of customer service lost a sale, and any referrals that might have been.

I needed an upgrade and found the perfect deal on a sale at another large chain store, but the safe was a pick-​up only option and at 1100 lbs empty, that wasn’t an option for me. I called The Safe Place and told them what was going on and they not only beat the other price, but gave me upgraded features making it a better safe. Their gratitude for giving them the business was shown as they also discounted my delivery cost. When the delivery men showed up, they were nothing short of perfect with their care and understanding that as a consumer and customer, this is a somewhat permanent landing spot for the 1100 lb safe and I wanted it placed in a specific way. They went above and beyond to meet my needs with a great attitude and friendly service. I can’t suggest this store enough for your next safe purchase or safe delivery and relocating needs. Great job guys, thanks again!

I have been shopping for a Fort Knox Defender 4026 Gun Safe for about a month. When i contacted the Safe Place they were able to provide me exactly what i wanted for less. I have to say what a deal they even delivered it, Will be buying a Wall safe soon from

Bought a safe from Sheels and contracted with The Safe Place to have it delivered and installed. The service from The Safe Place was outstanding as the technician was thoroughly versed in all types of installations. He was a bit shorthanded, and eventhough I tried to help, he insisted he do the job by himeself. Since he was low on the correct type of brackets required to secure the metal box itself, the Safe Place had to send him out a 2^nd time, but it worked out well.
We planned delivery 9 weeks out and still the actual delivery time schedule was hours outside what was promised. We have no problem with the quality of the work, we just have issues with timing as there is only 1 technician doing the installs at any given time.

I purchased a American security safe online from these guys. Best prices around and cheaper than most other even with shipping included. I would recommend them to anybody looking for a safe.

My husband had scheduled a delivery of a new safe from this company. He confirmed the delivered & installed price and set a date to have it delivered. At 4pm, the day before the delivery was to take place. The son’s owner, Peter, emailed him a higher price. We went way out of our way to be prepared for the delivery of this new safe, to being completely disappointed at the last minute changes to try to get more money from us. I would never recommend this company! What a poor business practice!
In regards to the owner’s response-​simply hogwash. Completely untruthful and misleading. The safe (AMSEC RF6528) to be purchased was on the store floor as standing inventory and not to be shipped from the factory. The safe price was provided by the store manager, Craig, when the safe was viewed in the store. My husband did not purchase the safe that day but shortly thereafter spoke telephonically with Craig and agreed to purchase the safe at the price provided in the store. Craig quoted a delivery charge of $ 765.00 which was agreed to and he and Peter, owner’s son, were going to deliver the 3400+ pound safe from the store to our cabin located west of Truckee, CA. The was no installation to occur as this safe is not anchored. A delivery date was agreed upon and a credit card was offered for deposit or payment in full. Craig, store manager, stated that upon delivery the credit card would be charged. Thus, and at the direction of the store manager, there was no invoice prior to delivery. Again, the owner is no where near the truth which is indicative of their business practices. Never met the owner at any time of the two visits to this store as he stated. Quite an imagination. A true bait and switch tactic-​mislead the customer and jack up the price the day prior to delivery. I would not recommend dealing with this store ever. There are competitors who will beat their price and operate with integrity-​shop those competitors. I did not buy this safe from them nor will I ever purchase any product from them.

I spoke with Bill Callos, the owner over the phone and he was very cordial and answered all my questions that I could conjure up. Since I was new to buying a safe, I had to learn all the technical terms and figures in a very short time frame.
I was spending over $ 3K for an Amsec safe so I packed up the family and headed to Sparks to see his wares. He actually keeps most of the models in-​stock and I wanted to see these safes (residential security containers) in person.
I only wanted a residential security container because I wanted to place the safe in my house. I don’t mind spending up to 10K on a safe, but I didn’t want to have to leave it in the garage.
So we get there and I get the feeling of like being a «kid in a candy store». I love all things made with precision and mechanically sound. After mulling over the prospects of an Amsec BF series safe, the features and warranty on a Fort Knox Guardian series safe (with the Legend door) seem to meet all my requirements.
So after an hour we decided to to leave and my wife accidentally locks us out of our Lexus. Ouch. After trying to opend the cracked window to no avail (didn’t want to break the mechanism), we ask Bill if he could help us. Being locked out of a car at a safe store has it’s advantages. Bill called a locksmith and within 7 minutes, he shows up. He assessed the situation and got the door opened shortly thereafter. Bill even paid for his services :) Although we also gave the locksmith a 20 $ tip.
Bill is very personable and I highly recommend buying from him. If you know what you want, just order it over the phone as he also has inexpensive shipping rates and he passes on the savings to his customers. Here’s a link to his web addy:
