Reno Vulcanizing

I usually go to the Reno Vulcanizing on Plumb, but this one is now closer. I was impressed with the professionalism and attention to customer satisfaction. This is definitely my go-​to for a car place.

I’ve been coming here for 12-​years and I’m always impressed with their fast and competent service. They’ve fixed transmission problems for me, electrical problems, performed oil changes, repaired my power steering and yes… I’ve even bought tires here.
They are up-​front about prices and honest about everything. Honesty and standing behind your work goes a long way with me and I would give them 5 stars for that alone. Want great service at fair prices? Reno vulcanizing won’t do you wrong.

HORRIBLE! I made an appt for an alignment so my husband took car down today to appt. They didn’t even get the car in at 1 pm and after 20 min they finally pull it in and say they won’t do the alignment because of the suspension. They said they could put the camber bar we need in the back on for over 700 dollars… haha your outta your friggin mind! We will order the part and put it on ourselves since my husband is a mechanic. Not paying 700 dollars for soemthing we can get for 96 dollars and install ourselves. And the kicker is they charge my husband 30.00 dollars for a check out fee… excuse me… you didn’t even do anything to our car so why did you collect any money at all? That’s ok we will just go elsewhere to have alignment, where we know it will be done with no problems. We will never ever come back to this place for anything ever again in the future. Rip off charging people a «check out fee». never heard of such a thing in my life. I will tell everyone I know not to use this place for anything they need on their cars.

I have been treated great at this business. Mike and the crew are polite they are on time the price is right and they are honest.

My Kia Sorento needed an Alignment. I went to Les Schwab on Los Altos Parkway in Sparks. Even though it was 1.5 hours before closing and there were no customers or cars in the shop and the mechanic was just hanging out in the office, they said they were too busy and soonest they could get me in would be 2 weeks.
I drove over to Reno Vulcanizing and made an appt for just a couple days later. The staff was very friendly. Also, the alignment turned out to be $ 20. less than Les Schwab had quoted me!
The vehicle is driving beautifully. Great experience, staff and price.

Reno Vulcanizing is the best! I have been going there for about 7 years and have always got honest, affordable, great car repair. I drive a 98 Jeep Cherokee so there has been plenty of front end issues and they have always worked with me by doing what I can afford at the time. I have also taken all of my cars to them to check out before I buy and have always got an honest opinion. I love these guys!

Very good experience with these guys. Second time going there. Got 4 new tires and thought they were a little high. Researched the price and found these guys were right in line on price. Maybe a little less. Here’s the most important part:
You need to be able to trust the shop that fixes the car you transport your family in. I trust these guys. They will not try to sell you things you do not need. I thought the brakes we bad, but they actually told me they were fine.
Two visits, two great experiences. I am skeptical about any automotive repair place, but I would go back here.

I have been going to this shop for about 2years now. It started when TIRES RUS took a look at the brakes on my Xterra and told me 1. there was «rust’ in the brake lines, 2. My pads were worn down to ¼ 3. My rotors needed turned in the front. total charge? $ 550.00. That was in early 2010. This was supposed to be AFTER my friends and family discount (the manager was a «friend of the family»). I had heard good things about Reno V from a neighbor so I scheduled an appt.
After examining my brakes, the manager at Reno V told me: 1. There wasnt any rust in the brake line — that rarely happens, and even so, it really doesnt affect alot unless it’s bad. 2. My pads were FINE. Plenty of life left. Hard to compare pads on vehicles anyways, since they all differ by model and make. 3. I didn’t need no stinking rotor turns. My shimmy was due to inproperly balanced front tire. They balanced the tire, flushed my radiator fluid, and charged me 40.00.
Basically, I didn’t need squat. What a relief! Now, in 2012, I had them check my brakes 4 more times, while I had other services done. Still running good, and no brake repairs. They have had 4 different opportunities to charge me for services that didn’t need to happen. They even gave me a discount on one service I was doing while buying tires to get the rate down on the tire purchase to match Costco’s price. No more waiting in line at Costco for rotations, or tire repairs (hours and hours of waiting).
People — this place is honest, decent, and ethical. I haven’t heard as good of things from the Reno store, but I can promise you the Sparks store is the place to go

Fortunately enough, I did not get the service that Greg B. received when I came here.
About four years ago I was kind of suckered into buying a used VW. I’m over it considering it’s been so long, and I’ve since come to love my little jetta. However, v-​dubs are quite well known for having their check engine lights come on — and stay on — so you can imagine a year ago when it came on and I couldn’t get my smog to pass, I was pissed. Several angry phone calls and about six free inspections + 30 miles of driving later (your car has to have it’s check engine light off for about that much to have the smog pass), I thought it was over.
Nope. Suddenly the car starts acting up yesterday and we made an immediate appointment to come here — I saw it had 4 ½ stars at the other location (which is where I thought we were going), but thankfully I didn’t see this review. We had them run an electrical diagnostic, which at the VW dealership runs 120 bucks a pop, to figure out what was wrong. They called us to say it could be possibly four things — four?!
Well, to my surprise they even CALLED a VW repair shop they worked with in the past, who informed them of the recall, and if we could get over to the Lithia VW dealership/​service department, then they would do it for free (being a recall and everything — believe me VW doesn’t do shit for free).
We asked how much this would set us back — 46 dollars.
Went to Lithia, who informed us that after changing the ignition coils they’d run a diagnostic to see if that’s what was running the check engine light. If it was, no charge. If not? 120 dollars.
You know what I told them?
«No», and in the interest of being civil THOUGHT to myself, «we already HAVE a mechanic».
The fiancé made an appointment to have his car checked out here too. We couldn’t be happier with the level of integrity they’ve provided — and in an industry that is well known for its scamming, this is such a nice breath of fresh air.

I made an appointment to get a new front tire here after blowing a sidewall while in town. The first appointment I made was apparently too inconvenient to them because upon my arrival they told me they were too busy to take me and to come back tomorrow at the same time. Thanks!
When I came back they changed my tire and charged me considerably more than I originally purchased the tires at. Ok– fine.
I called Reno Vulcanizing to reference the service number and asked to kindly call Goodyear warranty department as my tires were covered for sidewall damage. After I went through all the trouble to file the claim they called and refused to verify.
I will definitely not be back and I would advise anyone who reads this to do likewise.
