This place appears to be closed as of 9÷14÷14. I stopped by to eat and it was empty of anything.

Yep, I’m a fan of China King! I’ve been to 60 or 70 different Chinese buffets over the years, including the one down by the Convention Center. Not many of them impress me enough to go out of my way to revisit them. China King not only has reached that level, but gone above it, to the point where I’m looking forward to my next visit. And since they are open until 10PM, that visit doesn’t have to be too early for me to develop a good hunger(though I was there for lunch the other day, too). The difference between China King and the others is the FOODQUALITY. It doesn’t taste like«buffet» food, it tastes like«order off the menu» Chinese food. The selection is not as broad as many other buffets, with two hot tables, one cold table(which also has desserts), the ice cream chest(5 flavors, you scoop) and the sushi bar. But you will find most of the standards, plus several crab selections, oysters, and maybe a surprise or two — and it will not have been sitting there all day. You WON’T think of crabs when seeing the staff. Everyone is smiling, they are happy to see you and seem to genuinely want to make your visit a happy one. They treat you as long-time friends who are visiting their home, and will chat if you seem interested. While I go to a restaurant for the food, not for«atmosphere,» the strip-mall exterior is a world apart from the interior. Well, about HALF a world apart(counting time zones). It is clean, comfortable, decorated just enough(but not so much that they had to spend the food budget on it), and quiet enough for a nice conversation. They have plenty of room for gatherings as well, with two main rooms and seating in the center area near the door and the food. The booths aren’t the beat-up, thrift-store-outlet seating you find other places, either. The bottom line is that China King Buffet is TOP line. Now I’m going to cut this short, I think I hear a teryaki chicken calling my name. ..

I go to this restaurant with my husband almost every Friday for dinner.(My husband is an American, and he loves this place too!) Overall, the foods are pretty good. If you have been to the other Chinese buffets in Reno/Sparks areas, you would be pleased to know that finally, Reno has a better-quality Chinese and Sushi buffet! I’ve tried almost everything since it was open, and I was happy with each of my visits. The foods were fresh, and they changed the trays very frequently(so the foods remained fresh and yummy!) Do try their Chinese roasted rib and Chinese barbecued chicken. They were so delicious! In addition to some traditional Chinese foods like broccoli beef, general chicken, chow-mien, fried rice, hot and sour soup, and etc, they also served some items that most Chinese buffets in town don’t have – stuffed oysters, stuffed shrimps, raw oysters, roasted beef, and etc –yum! I was surprised that their raw oysters were actually fresh.(I love seafoods and I can tell if seafoods are fresh.) Their spring rolls were pretty fresh and yummy too! This restaurant also has a sushi section that serves all you– can– eat sushi. I won’t say sushi in this place was as great as most of the high-quality all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants in town where you order what you want and they are made just for you. But overall, their sushi was decent. They didn’t try to pile a lot of sushi on the plate at one time, so this sort of keeps their sushi fresh. The presentation of their sushi was very pleasant to see as well. I tried the cucumber nigiri(cucumber used to substitute seaweed wrap) and that was pretty good! As for their dessert, they have fruits, cheese cake, Chinese cookies and pastries, jellies, and ice cream(4 flavors!) I really like their cheese cake. It reminded me of the kind of «cheese cake» I had when I lived in my home country Taiwan. The staff were very friendly and helpful as well. When I was taking foods from the buffet section, they asked if I like the foods or gave me some recommendations. I have been very happy with my visits there. The price is pretty nice too. $ 11.99/person for dinner on Friday is pretty awesome for having ribs, barbecued chicken, raw oyster, clams, etc. Well, I am very surprised to read some extremely bad reviews about this restaurant. It’s hard to believe that people would think their foods are«bland» or simply awful. I’ve tried so many other Chinese buffets in the Reno-Sparks area, and do think this one is the best among all. I am not saying that this restaurant serves fancy, gourmet Chinese foods, but I am sure that their foods are sort of authentic rather than Americanized.(I guess that’s the reason why some people think they are bland?) As a native Taiwanese who grew up in traditional Chinese foods, I do think this restaurant is very true to flavor.
