Established in 1984.

Armed and Safe Firearms Training began in Reno in 1984 in conjunction with the Mustang Machine Gun Range in Fernley Nevada. For the last 18 years we have watched the concealed carry laws improve for law abiding citizens and we have adjusted with the times to provide an affordable class to provide better access to your 2nd amendment rights. We even invite the general public to join us for free gun safety instruction during our CCW classes in progress.

Let’s face it, 8 hours of mostly classroom training is not how any of us want to spend a weekend, but Allan and Kelly make this necessity as enjoyable as possible.
They cover all the information you need to know for your CCW exam and patiently answer any questions without letting the class run too far afield with «what ifs» and «I had a friend who told me…» stories.
If you need your NV, UT, OR, or FL concealed permit, this is your best bet in Reno.

I thought A&S did a great job teaching us what we need to know regarding state and federal laws. They were clearly very knowledgeable about the subject matter. And they were a lot of fun. It was very professionally run. And they clearly aren’t just trying to make a buck. They are there to share as much meaningful information as they can cram into the required time. The instructors on the range were also very good. Overall, it was a great experience.

Great training and instruction. I’ve been training on handguns for a while and thought I knew a lot about guns and gun safety, but these guys taught me a lot of stuff that I didn’t know about or things that I could improve on. Thanks for the training. I recommend these trainers to anyone. By the way, their classes aren’t boring, they serve pizza and coffee, and the people up in Washoe County range are professional and know what they are talking about. They aren’t showboats, they are personable and will teach you to get things right without feeling like a drill Sargent is yelling in your ear (trust me I know how that’s like). Thanks again!

Great course! I particularly appreciated the expert volunteers on the range helping everyone from beginners to regular shooters to improve their accuracy and practice addition shots such as strong hand and week hand.

Great class, they have obviously been doing this for several years. They are not interested in just going thru the motions, wink wink, you know what i mean, that so many of these classes of this type do. I did this at Scheels and got a $ 10.00 gift card to boot. Got the Utah and florida documents too. There were several people in class that had a very limited understanding of firearms and they very patiently answered all the questions they had. The range that you «qualify» at is about 25 min away and i had a couple guys follow me out that were from California. Cool people. The range is very straight forward with several very qualified instructors to help you «train to proficiency» and qualify. I say bring tip money, it will be the best 30 – 45 min you will get on a range for the cost of the class. I shot a .22 to qualify as all i have are larger handguns not suitable for concealed carry, shot great but took a lot of heat for it. It was all tongue in cheek and i had a great time.
At the end of the day you will know what you need to know to have a basic understanding on the CCW permit and what you have responsibility wise, on your shoulders, when you carry. I want to sign up for some of the other classes they talked about.

I consider the time I spent at the A & S class an investment. I’ve trained at various levels in my home state of Wisconsin and have to say Kelly and Allen’s class is one of the best. Very informative, interesting and keeps moving along with a bit of humor thrown in, never boring. The range time was excellent with more than enough help for anyone needing it and as much as needed. My wife has a certificate for the class to use next time we visit Nevada together. She is an Army Vet who has continued training post service. I look forward to taking the class again with her.

Took my 1st class from Armed and Safe 5 years ago and just took my second class. They have this class all planned out to maximize your time. You’ll be at the police station the same day as the class in most cases. I wish the class was all shooting and no classroom, but unfortunately most of your time will be in the class. We shot at 7 yards (21 feet). One guy was using a .22!!! I guess it doesn’t matter what you show proficiently with (as of now). Could all change anytime.

If you’re looking for a NV CCW permit, Kelly and Allan from Armed and Safe is the place to go!!! Just took their class and very happy! Very informational and both had lots of experience! Don’t forget… the price is AWESOME! Only $ 60 for the whole day. Thanks for your service!

Kelly was an awesome instructor. Her humor was a little dry, but should be expected when you are teaching an eight hour class that you have taught a number of times.
The best part about the course was that it is affordable. It is hard to find good service at reasonable prices, and this service far exceeded my expectations. They let me shoot a number of their personal pistols during and after I was finished qualifying. It was a very personal touch and ended up saving me a ton of money in pistol rentals before I went to purchase.
The course was also surprisingly easy to understand and digest. I have been around pistols for a while and the laws don’t change much state to state, but there are minor points (which could be really major if you aren’t aware) which she was able to point out easily.
Some of the wording in the questions for the written portion of the class was strange, but I don’t think that was Armed & Safe’s fault.

Outstanding! Fast paced, very organized! My wife and I attended the Sportsman Warehouse session along with about 20 other students. Both Kelly and Allen were very helpful in the classroom and on the range. They were both very patient and answered all questions thoroughly and provided excellent shooting instructions while on the range.

One of the best experiences they say it’s going to be eight hours but don’t let it fool you it’s eight hours of enjoyment. The trainers are very personal knowledgeable and hands-​on they covered everything I could’ve expected and more. I have been an NRA certified Instructor since 1993. In that time I have taken or audited no less than 100 different State CCW courses in Florida, Texas, California, Utah and Nevada. I can say with certainty that Armed and Safe ranks in the top three and may be the best of its type. We took the renewal course for our NV CCW and the class certificate is also good for the neighboring states of Utah and Oregon as well and Florida, giving the student the ability to lawfully carry concealed in up to 36 states.
Allan and Kelly are knowledgeable, professional and eager to answer questions. There were 30 to 40 students in the class, but not one suffered from lack of attention and the time went by quickly as Kelly and Allan teach a very engaging class that holds the students’ interest with solid information, the right doses of humor when appropriate and a solid focus on the fundamentals of safety and shooting.
I honestly am looking forward to renewing with them again in another 5 years.

I loved the class so much the first time, I went and sat in when my husband went to renew. Kelly is on top of it and her husband has lots of good advice for handling weapons on the range. The legal portion of this class is amazing and taught by former law enforcement. If you are interested in taking a CCW class– TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Kelly is funny and makes even the boring parts entertaining.

Beyond what I expected when I first signed up for this class!!! Kelly and Allan ran a great class that was very informative and covered many situations and questions that I had both prior to and during the class. They brought a light heartedness to the class that made the learning environment relaxing and enjoyable. Being what I would consider an intermediate shooter I was apprehensive about taking this class but Kelly and Allan made things comfortable to be open and learn. I know that this class is open to all but it would have been nice to skip over some of the hypothetical scenarios and questions that were discussed and dedicated time to what we were all there for which was to learn. Overall this was a great class that I would recommend to anyone wanting to take the CCW course as Kelly and Allan run a first class operation!!!

All I can say is AWESOME! this has to be one of the best classes I have ever taken in my life, Kelley and Allan were fun, personable, and interactive. During the entire 8 hour course I never got bored once. I took along my best friends mom who is older and retired, she loved it just as much as I did. If you plan on taking a CCW course this has to be the one, not only because what I mentioned above but also the price, $ 60, and they provide coffee and protein bars in the morning and Port of Subs for lunch, you can’t beat that period! Great class great people!

As a resident of a California county adjacent to Nevada, I travel often to and through Nevada. Being accustomed to edc in California means it is easy to forget you are in another state. Anyhow, I ran into Kelly at the Reno gun show and arranged to get qualified for non resident Nevada ccw. I can’t really express here just how many helpful tips I got and how considerate and knowledgeable they are. Fast, accurate, fun and informative. I completed the course and application at Carson City by 4pm the second day. Call them now and carry safe.
