This place is just plain dirty. Only thing I would come here for is the bread. Don’t even bother eating at this place. You can just go next door and have a better meal. You can even cook for yourself and have a better food than what this place serves. On top of that, the service is 0⁄5. The lady that was serving us was very rude. As she was serving our food she said to enjoy our food but her tone and her face says so other wise.

The service here is horrendous, the place looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in a long while but the food is good and cheap. I haven’t been back here in about four or five years but it’s like nothing changed — with the exception of the Star Bread and Bobba that was added to the entrance. I ordered a tosilog which made me so happy since I don’t eat it very often. I never understood why the workers are so unhappy looking — and actually during our lunch, the worker used the word bitch a few times while talking to her friend. I was pretty scared that my son would pick up the word. That’s how loud she was talking. Anyways, I still love this place despite the service. It’ll always be consistent.

My family always comes here whenever we crave silogs. The food itself is great, however the service is kind of slow, and for some reason it’s always freezing inside. Delicious food, subpar atmosphere.

Been coming here for years(late/early mornings clubbing days):) Like others had stated here… place looks dirty, service sucks(depending who the server is… or in what mood), but the food is not that bad. The silogs are pretty decent for their price– I still come here once in awhile for breakfast since everyone else in the area are closed, and mostly opens @10:30. It’s either this place or Goldie Locks:)

I’ve been to Ling Nam several times in the last 14 years. The only reason I ever go is because it’s open late and it’s close to home. Other than that, it’s dirty and the service is terrible. They’ve been in business for a long time, and since they added that sweet bread and boba section, Ling Nam remains popular. But I’ll never understand why people keep returning. There are so many places within walking distance that are so much better.

I hate and love this place. Food is okay at best but for whatever reason, I seem to come back to this place from time to time. Mainly out of desperation and pure laziness. When you live on, or near Gellert Blvd, and are hungry after 11pm, you got two choices… MCDs or this place. The only reason why I give his place 2 stars instead of 2.5ish is because of the service. The grouchy old lady that takes my order whenever I call or go in to place my order always seems like I’m inconveniencing her. Hella rude blood! Matter of fact, I’ve never seen her smile. Cheer up lady! Geez.

They used to serve good food. But yesterday when we were there food was horrible … Eggs were so dry and cold and there spamsilog doesn’t even taste like spam I think they just substitute it with regular luncheon meat and the worst part of eating there is no customer service at all… One of the female servers(long black hair with a very fine thin eyebrows bitch looking) shouldn’t be working there she is very rude, doesn’t even smile nor greet the customers … Sad to say I won’t recommend this place to any of my friends and family anymore …

Rude service staff. Specially during holiday season, you mr staff should be all smiles with the Christmas spirit. We sat ourselves and we were begging for her attention to get our order. After taking our order, not even a thank you. There were only 3 tables ahead of us so you can’t say that she was busy. Toppings next door was closed and my husband was hungry, so we had no choice. This is not the first time I experienced bad customer service from this lady. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

We seated ourselves since there was only one waitress and completely ignored us as we walked in. I personally had to grab the menus for me and my friend since she was busy. When she finally came around to take out order we thought it would be okay since there were only 2 other parties of 2 and ourselves. We waited for 40 minutes for only 2 plates of food! I usually get decent service the last 3 times I have been here but today was horrible. Also she had took the time to make numerous to-go orders while everyone else around us had food on their table while we had 2 empty bowls and utensils, no water or anything while we waited. Overall very disappointed with the service. Will not be returning anytime soon.

Well this is long time Coming. Have eaten here several time with out too much to complain about, besides that it’s a typical food place in the philippine Islands. Not So clean food is decent. The reason for this review is for the sake of my fellow Unilocalers health. I observed the bus boy go into the bath room with a plastic glove on his hand, no problem there but he had it still on when he came out. Which means that he didn’t wash his hands. Also observed him cleanings tables and clearing plates using the gloved hand. Then go to where the water pitchers are and grab one to refill it with water. Pretty nasty. So if you have a compromised immune system never ever come here, you will probably get sick.

Alright, let’s be clear about Ling Nam. It’s on Gellert, it’s in Daly City, it’s open 24 hours on Saturday, and it’s greasy and sticky. You’re not getting high-class dining here. You know what you’re getting — quick, hot food and gruff service. So, I’m not entirely sure what people are complaining about because they shouldn’t be expecting Gary Danko. The food quality is straight-up mediocre, and if you’re ordering noodles, don’t expect much in the way of portions of even mediocre food. You come here for a hot plate of Filipino food(I definitely wouldn’t go the Chinese route), and it would be silog(garlic rice, two fried eggs, and a choice of meat). The lechon kawali(fried chunks of pork) hits the spot all the time, and you get massive portions of the meat for $ 8.50. It’s legitimately a good deal. No veggies, but I don’t think you’re coming here for that. Parking lot is huge, so you’ll never wait for a spot, and food comes out quickly. They also sell a number of desserts. $ 10 minimum for credit cards, and there’s a Raging Boba and Starbread inside the same restaurant. Good times.

Rude AF, but that’s old Filipinos for you. Quick sub-par food when you want a quick cheap Filipino fix. My mom lives too far. =( They’re open late, so what’s a hungry girl to do? Learn to cook? I should.

Food here is alright– got a silog(2 eggs + garlic rice) with sweet pork sausage and pork asado. Maybe my taste buds aren’t a fan of super sweet foods, but it tasted okay. That banana marinade came in pretty strong though. I will say that the señorita bread is super soft when it comes straight out of the oven. Tastes like a buttery soft dinner roll with sugar stuffed inside. Not the type of food I’d go for on a daily basis, but tasty for that sweet pastry craving.

This review is based on take out orders ONLY. I’ve never really dined in here. It’s one of the places I go for silog(basically anything w/garlic rice and a sunny side up egg). I usually order the bangsilog or get the combo with corned beef. These usually come with vinegar to dip your food in. I wouldn’t recommend dipping the corned beef in it though since it already has a lot of flavor to begin with. If you’re looking for a nicer, sit-down restaurant for silog, there’s one right next door at Chibog. But I still like Ling Nam better, even though it’s this random restaurant mixed with Starbread Bakery, mixed with Raging Boba. Kinda strange, but I guess you got some variety all in one place! I recommend trying the señorita bread at the bakery, it’s what they’re known for. It’s comparable to the cheese rolls at Porto’s. It’s cash only for this! As for Raging Boba, I’ve never actually tried it myself. There are also other places next door since it is in a little plaza. You can go to Toppings, Original Thai BBQ(I recommend getting the bbq chicken rice plate), Round Table, some phở place, or I guess Bambū… Not sure if they’re 24 hours anymore because one time I tried calling and they seemed to be closed.

Late night Filipino food! Unfortunately not so great service. First let’s talk about the good stuff about this place. Ordered: Lechon Kawali, fried pork belly. Mmm, I think my dad could make it better. Kind of blan, but of course you’re suppose to dip it with either Achara or lechon sauce.(Too much fat in this meat & it was oily) Sisig, pork as well. Up to par! This dish did not disappoint, maybe extra onions on the side would’ve been a plus? But good overall. Tapsilog, sweet fried beef that should be dipped in vinegar, with sunny side up egg, and garlic rice. Favorite breakfast meal on the menu! Grew up going here late nights and it’s not until recently where I realized their service isn’t great. Not sure if it’s because the workers are tired since its late, but they have a slight attitude. They’re not smiling and can’t look at their customers straight and while serving you they seem super unhappy. I don’t know about you, but the negative vibes were easily felt while dining there. Overall: will forever be a late night spot for my family and I. REAL Filipino food!

CRISPYPATA — LASTMEALONEARTH If you read my Unilocal profile you’ll notice besides foie gras the other food that would be considered my last meal would be crispy pata. That is because of my experience in Germany. I went to Germany twice in 2006 for the World Cup and Oktoberfest. While I was in Germany I had the German version of crispy pata, which in German is translated to schweinshaxe. Despite the similarities of the crispy skin the pork knuckle in Germany is cooked differently than the one cooked in Filipino cuisine. For one it is not deep fried by roasted in an oven.(During Oktoberfest the pork knuckles were in a rotisserie oven.) By roasting the pork knuckle in the over instead of deep frying is that the meat inside is moist and tender. Despite the different methods of cooking I still consider crispy pata, or schweinshaxe, as part of my last meal due to the crispy pork skin. I remember Ling Nam during my days at college. After going to the nightclubs on Saturday night my friends and I would go to Ling Nam. Ever since I graduated from college I never been back to Ling Nam. So last night I drove to Ling Nam for a late dinner. I already knew I was going to order the crispy pata rice plate, but since I made the long drive I wanted to make a meal while I was there. Initially I ordered lechon kalawi, which is Filipino fried pork belly. Since I ordered the crispy pata I thought the lechon kalawi was redundant. Instead I ordered two pieces of boneless bangus. For dessert I ordered halo-halo. About 15 minutes after I placed my order my dishes arrived all at once including the halo-halo to my surprise. I intended to or crispy pata rice plate but changed it to silog-style, which is two fried eggs and garlic rice. The first test of the crispy pata is the skin. As I cut the skin with the knife the skin made that crunchy sound — always a good sign. I took a bite of the skin that resulted in crispy texture. That passed the first test. Now the next test was the meat. After eating several bites of the meat I noticed a couple of things. First the meat was dry. Second was meat close to the bone was cold. The combination of the two would have prevented me from finishing the crispy pata but the crispy skin texture super sided those problems. Growing up as a Filipino Catholic I HATED bangus, which is milkfish. That fish has so many tiny bones in the meat. What made it worse was that these tiny bones aren’t edible. I would have to separate these bones from the meat. This was a lot of work — I was working more than eating. I was getting irritated before I was eating. When bangus was served on Fridays during Lent I resented fish even more. Bangus was the fish that made me almost stop eating fish. However I love boneless bangus because I could eat the meat without doing the work of taking out the bones. Surprisingly the boneless bangus was better tasting than the crispy pata because the meat of the bangus was moist. What makes a great boneless bangus is the belly due to its fatty texture. When the halo-halo was served early I feared the ice cream would melt and the crushed ice would water down the milk. Regardless what makes a great halo-halo is the compliment combinations of the ube ice cream, crushed ice, and condense milk. The condiments inside the halo-halo act as a supporting cast. Of all the dishes I was disappointed with the halo-halo the most. I think serving this dessert early in the meal eventually watered down the condense milk. However also that there were too many condiments that overpowered the texture of the ube ice cream and condense milk. I like the halo-halo at Jolibee and Gerry’s Grill much better. If the meat inside the crispy pata was tender and the halo-halo not so overpowering I would rate my experience higher. I believe a 3-star rating for my late dinner was justified. However my eating experience at Ling Nam doesn’t change that fact that crispy pata is an ideal last meal for me. I just need to find better tasting crispy pata either at a Filipino or German restaurant.

I’ve heard of Ling Nam for like forever so when my friends suggested we get soup after a night at the movies, I was a go. I got their goto. Food was okay. It was a big serving. I later on came back with the kids for their silog. It wasn’t as good as Miche’s. Plus the lady server wasn’t friendly at all. Rushed us with our order. Anyways, that part wasn’t pleasant. I would however come back here, even on a regular basis, for their senoritas. I grew up with this bread and we called it spanish bread. They make it hot and warm all the time. And I agree with the rest of the peeps, it’s addicting. I love them!
