Specialties

We are the only Southern California antique venue specializing in the presentation of a full range of Americana. Offering American country and formal furniture from the 18th to the mid 19th century, American folk art, fine art, textiles and the decorative accessories that accented colonial and federal era homes, Thomas R. Field Antiques has been the West Coast’s go to destination for dealers from the East, as well as some of the west’s most discriminating collectors.

Sourcing almost all of his material from local resources and collections, visitors can be assured of an ever changing inventory, and a casual environment where visitors can share their passions and expertise.

History

Established in 1995.

Thomas R. Field began his business out of passion for «old things».

«As often as I’m given the opportunity, I tell my younger visitors…‘Why would you want to sit in a new chair, when you can sit in one that people have been sitting in for the last two hundred years.’ The history of these objects and the people whose lives they’ve enriched becomes a part of us… and we, in turn, become a part of that same history.»

Meet the Business Owner

Tom F.

Business Owner

Tom came naturally to the world of antiques. Growing up in the shadow of Old Deerfield, Massachusetts, one of the most well preserved colonial era villages. He was inspired to an early passion for history and preservation by his grandmother, who served as a docent in the homes of that historic village.

After leaving Deerfield, Field migrated to California, where he pursued an education and career in the fine arts and film industry before returning to his early passion for «old things.»

«The world of American antiques and folk art has enriched my life immeasurably. It has connected me to the broad demographic that characterizes the collector, has consistently and still challenged my scholarship, and afforded me the pure pleasure of being connected to the heritage of the past.»
