Wildman Lake Tahoe

A while back I wrote a comment about how the owners of Widman’s Burgers, which is now closed, cheated my close friend who owned the Drive in for over 30 years. Widman’s ran out not paying the last six months back rent.
Always claiming to pay all the past due bills he owed the city of South Lake Tahoe, but they ran out on all of them.
My close friend ended up spending a great deal of money and some 3 months time rebuild the Drive-​in.

Gone to parts unknown… too bad the food was good.

We live in South Lake Tahoe and we stopped in for lunch today. We were very happy with the burgers and hot dogs we ordered! Very reasonably priced and VERY tasty!!! The service was awesome too! We will definitely be back!

The best burgers in town. Everything is fresh, the burgers are juicy, and the service is warm and welcoming.

Wildman’s really impressed me! Only thing I regret was not being hungry enough to get a meal to myself.
It was a light snowy morning and my husband and I were off of work. I’ve been craving burgers and onion rings so we turned to Unilocal to see what we can find. I’ve noticed Wildman for quite some time now, but never had a chance to stop by.
Upon walking in, we notice they have a cheeseburger special for $ 5.50. Includes cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. I wasn’t very hungry, but I did get an order of onion rings. My husband went with the cheeseburger special. It’s pretty cold in there, so I got us a table right in front of the heater. It took about 10 minutes for our food to come out and the guy who took our order was nice. I had a bite of my husband’s cheeseburger and I was impressed! Not your typical fast food burgers. The quality in the burger patty and cheese was pretty damn good. The bun was soft and fluffy. Great tasting cheeseburger, especially for the price! Fries and onion rings are good as well. Both cooked to perfection. The place is pretty small, so I can see it being packed on our busier seasons in Tahoe. So glad we finally gave Wildman a try! Love having more options to eat here in Tahoe since it’s so limited to us. We’ll mosdef be back!

I love this place! their gyros were awesome! they grind their own burgers on premesis. Prices are very reasonable.

Wildman’s has been around Tahoe for years and has always had great food. This new resurrection of Charlies classic 50’s Diner is his latest venture. From humble beginnings he is off to a good start. Friendly service. Consistent food. And a great location Wildman’s 50’s diner deserves to be on the map as a fun family oriented point of interest. With a great stop by car show. It’s a fun and nostalgic place to dine. Traditional burgers, shakes and dogs or try one of Wildman’s signature dishes!

Great burger every time I’ve come to Tahoe which is now 3 times. Really delicious food and highly recommend if you want to eat a great burger. I looked at some of the reviews and Not sure why dude below commented on it being too greasy. It’s called yum. If it doesn’t drop burger juice, I don’t want it. They call that a McD’s dried up fake patty. I know my burgers living in LA and I rate this right up there with some of the great ones.

Been here twice. Both times I was very impressed! The burgers-​all I can say is YUMMY! The onion rings and hot dogs are great as well. Nice atmosphere for families and kids as well. I really like the fact that you can place your order and they will bring it out to you in your car if you are in a hurry or just don’t want to stay and eat.

Ugh! It should be called «Why’d I go here, Man?»
I went there today with my wife for lunch, we won’t be going back. Here is the order and how it went. Me, «Do you have iced tea?» Counter person, «Yes.». He grabs a cup and starts is ready to fill the cups at the soda machine before I stop him. I do not understand why anyone would not brew fresh iced tea. It’s cheaper and better than soda. We ordered cokes, they were flat, no CO2. Yuck!
For food we ordered one hamburger, one double cheeseburger with jalapeños and a large fries to split. The french fries were very good that’s why I gave them a star. My wife said her burger was okay. My cheeseburger was a greasy disgusting mess. I had tilted my tray with my keys so the grease would go to one side, and the burger was so greasy bad it fell apart. If you are going to fry burgers, you’d better use lean beef. This was so bad, I almost think oil was added to the burger meat before cooking. The jalapeños I paid extra for, I am not making this up, 3 slices of fresh jalapeño. I don’t mind fresh, but at $ 1/​pound, I expect more than 3 slices. The bun and veggies were good and fresh.
They kept asking us how it was and I lied, because my wife would be embarrassed if I told them the truth. I am writing it down here, because I wish I would have read an honest review. Go to the Burger Lounge it’s so much better and just down the road.
The décor is tacky cheap, even a paint job in the dining room would help so much and not cost anything. Seriously now I know why this is the fourth location that I know he has had in town. Two were coffee shops, so I am thinking quality control is a problem for «Why’d I go there, Man?»

Malts and are like drinking milk and the service was slow 30 minutes to get 2 shakes. Expensive and disgusting!

Wow. Amazing burger. I heard about this place from some random guys who had nothing but good things to say about them. They were right! One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time (and that’s saying something). Onion rings were delicious and the food is always very fresh. This is my go to burger place from now on.

We paid way too much for a couple of milkshakes that were really liquified. Lower your prices and maybe I’ll come again for food

Wildmans’ bringin back the carhop style dining with a legit burger and fantastic customer service. Meat cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Tried the wildman signature burger which confounded me as how to wrap my mouth around it, but soon it was burger bliss.

Great all-​American food! I had the blt, my honey had the cheeseburger and onion rings, kiddo had the chicken nuggets and milkshake. For a fraction of the price at McDonald’s, we had a delicious, freshly made meal. Plus, you get a relaxed, feel-​good atmosphere with friendly staff. Sooo happy we finally found a delicious burger place in Tahoe! Can’t wait to come back soon! :)

Great food and very friendly service. We’ve been eating at Wildman’s since he was at Ski Run Marina. For a real treat ask for the secret menu item Moco Loco: burger patty over rice topped with a fried egg and gravy. Yum!

floats and rings have been great

An honest cheeseburger at a reasonable price (comes dressed with ketchup so ask them to exclude it if it’s not your thing). The service was really friendly. The blended coffee drink I ordered wasn’t executed well at all, but they have Mr. Espresso beans from Oakland so I might have to give them another try in that department.
If you’re expecting a nostalgic interior like that of a Mel’s or Johnny Rockets you’ll be sorely disappointed like I was. The restaurant is totally bare bones! It’s downright depressing. I’d really like to see more work put into the 50s theme or some late-​night hours here to make it stand out from the other burger joints in the city.

Burgers are ok, tough to beat Big Daddy’s or Lucky beaver. I gave them 3 stars cause the Gyros and service were good. Not sure if they’ll make it, location isn’t the best and food is mediocre.
