Ken’s Tire Center South Lake Tahoe

The people at Ken’s Tire Center are the nicest you ever want to deal with. I had a tire issue with the indicator warning on the dash saying I had low tire pressure prior to reaching Lake Tahoe. I pulled into Ken’s because it was the first tire place I saw and very grateful I did. The only negative was the young man who first filled the tire to get me through until my appointment the next day didn’t check all four tires, so the indicator warning didn’t go off and the original tire wasn’t filled enough. The next day at my appointment, they found nothing wrong with the tire, checked all four tires and because the young failed to check the tires the privious day (he was in training, I think) they charged me nothing. I told the young lady I thought I should pay something because they had worked on my tire for a while, but she insisted that I go and enjoy my day. What a great way to do business. This is the way I remember businesses used to conduct themselves, how refreshing to find this place.

Always friendly, reasonable prices. I have been a customer for 25 years+. The only thing keeping this place from 5 stars is the physical layout. It’s just kind of a junk show inside and out. Not really a comfortable place to wait and you’re most likely going to be waiting. It’s cramped … the parking lot is cramped, the waiting room is cramped, the service facilities are cramped… but the service and value makes up for it. Good people doing a good job. Best to plan to drop off your vehicle at the beginning of the day and come pick it up at the end of the day.

I was on my way to my Micro final at the college and my power steering disengaged. Pulled over and saw the belt hanging below the jeep. I pulled into Ken’s Tires and went inside. Jamie was at the front desk and was very helpful. I told her I was on my way to a final and she was able to get the mechanic Mike to work on the jeep right away. I was super annoying peppering Mike with questions about the belt tensioner and the system. But he was very patient answering all my questions and worked fast to get me back on the road. I am going to make an appointment to have the rest of the work needed. Definitely recommend and thanks for getting me to my final on time Jamie and Mike!

This is the only place I would go for tires or tire problems in Tahoe. Hope you don’t have them, but if you do…

Had to get a nail removed and patched this past weekend and these guys were friendly, honest, and did a good job (and fast to boot). Would definitely return and recommend, especially to those not local to SLT.

I cannot say enough good things about this tire shop. They are honest– as a female who has been majorly taken advantage of by other tire shops in the basin this is a godsend. They are professional, do good work, are friendly as all get out and there isn’t another tire shop around the entire lake I would trust my car with. Go here– you won’t be disappointed. After living in Tahoe for eleven years I have been to almost every tire shop in the basin (all of them in SLT) and these guys are a step above. They have saved me from major work another shop said needed to be done, had these guys take a second look and saved me over 500 dollars in work that didn’t need to be done. Love Ken’s and the entire crew!

While visiting South Lake Tahoe, my tire pressure light came on. I wanted to make sure I didn’t have a puncture, so I asked a local guy for a tire shop recommendation. He said he has been going to Ken’s for decades, so I brought my car there. They explained that the cold weather can reduce tire pressure, so they raised the pressure in all four tires. It worked, and they didn’t charge me. If I lived here, they would have a customer for life!

Awesome experience! Was to hit the road back to southern California but woke up to a flat tire with a leak… they squeezed me in to a full house of customers, fixed it in mins, and tried to not even charge me! Can’t thank you enough for saving the trip and, when in Tahoe, I’ll go nowhere else!

these guys are great, service was fast and cheap! its not much to look at and i don’t imagine they have a huge stock of tires but the people here were top notch. i’ll skip the free popcorn and get my tires taken care of here.

Ken’s Tire Center helped my wife and I out tremendously! They gave us the best deal in Tahoe and EVEN Carson City! Jamie was very helpful in choosing a tire! We will definitely recommend this to all of our friends and family!

I started doing business with Ken’s about 35 years ago. A few years ago I purchased a Dodge Ram Van camping conversion, essentially a mini-​RV, which needed a lot of work. Since Ken’s specializes in tires and suspension, it was necessary to use other shops that perform repairs that they don’t. Having collected these repairs and estimates from other shops, I have estimates for parts that are marked up 3x over what Ken’s charged and labor that is double. There are even invoices recommending unnecessary work that Ken’s performed correctly just 3 wks earlier. There was only one occasion, many years ago, that the work was unsatisfactory. The mechanic missed a part that needed replacement. When I took it back, they were not only apologetic, but they discounted the part and did the work at no additional charge.
In a town as small as ours, there isn’t a lot of choice and there is a strong tendency for shops to take advantage of your position. Besides, they know that if you go to what competition there is that they are going to exploit you to the same degree. Against a back drop such as this, Ken’s tires stands out as a shining star, or rather, 5 stars. You can be confident that you and your vehicle will be treated to professional service at a fair and honest price.

Ken’s tire center is amazing. This is a family business. While I was there Jaime made me feel like family! Everyone walking through the door was treated the same. They are very professional but still have lots of fun.
I was out getting breakfast for the family and realized I took my brakes to far. I stopped in at 7:30am and Jaime let me put my ego waffles in the freezer. I was in my pajamas and their lobby is very comfy. I am from out of town and looking for some things to do with the kids. Jaime being a lifetime resident had all kinds of cool ideas of places to take the kids.
Michael handled my issues very quickly. As we uncovered my neglect parts were ordered and installed very quickly. I have never had this A+ service from any automotive repair shop.
I recommend Ken’s tire center to anyone. Your not just money, your family!

Jamie & Phil are so nice and helpful. I got new tires put on, they helped me pick out the best ones for my car. The service is fast. I definitely recommend this shop.

Fast and speedy service. Would recommend! Had a nail in my tire and they inspected it and fixed it in 15min.

Great Service, Great Product
As a local in Lake Tahoe, I have tried most of the tire services. I love Ken’s tires and will not take my car anywhere else. Their service is top notch, the prices very competitive and I always drive away happy.
I thought going off the hill could save me $$, but that is not the case here. BUY Local or bring your car to Kens from out of town to experience the service levels you deserve.

Kens tire center truly deserves 5 stars. I’m overall a very happy person so if I walk out of the establishment alive it gets 5. But this time it’s different. I was served immediately for a valve stem replacement on my car and it only cost me $ 5.40 out the door. I was only charged for parts and not for labor of mounting and removal of the tire.
This establishment restored my faith in the human race and gave me hope that I would live to see another day.
