Erin E.

Manager

Erin was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe and is currently raising her three children in this community. She takes pride in being able to offer a storefront where customers can purchase quality gently used children items at a fraction of retail. Erin loves purchasing quality toys, equipment, and clothing for her children, but does not like spending 100’s of dollars for items the kids use for only a short time. Being able to get a little bit of cash or store credit for unused items is just icing on the cake! Going off the hill to shop for discounts was not always feasible, therefore Tot to Tot was established. With a Business Degree from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, CA, Erin utilized her skills to create and maintain a successful business that provides a need to the community, and a fun place to shop and save money!

I enjoy shopping at Tot to Tot every couple of months when we visit Tahoe. I can pretty much find whatever seasonal items I’m looking for be it snow bibs or swim suits. I like perusing the toys for my kids and nieces/​nephews. And, I support shopping locally.
But, all that said, it is a business and I can’t help but feel taken advantage of when I bring in bags of clothes to trade in and then get mere pennies in return, especially when the clothes I’m bringing in are quality items (cute clothes in good shape and high end brands). My biggest complaint is that you get so little for the items they purchase from you and these will be marked up much higher. I’m constantly shocked this happens every time I visit, but shame on me for being a reoccurring customer when I’m dissatisfied.
Pros:

— easy to find seasonal gear
— variety of clothes and toys, both used and new
— staff seems genuinely friendly
Cons:
— the monopoly on kids’ consignment/​thrift
— a bit of a rip off
— some inventory is old and tired

My two-​year-​old son, my husband, and myself were involved in a car accident right outside of the Tot To Tot business today. We were side swiped and obviously, a little shaken up. I went in to Tot To Tot with my two year old and the lady at the front desk was so sweet to us! She let us use her bathroom to calm down and then offered us a playroom for my son to play in while we were waiting for all the ruckus of the car accident to pass. My son calmed down quickly at the site of the toys. The woman who worked there even put on the Frozen movie while we waited for my husband to finish up with the mess outside. She offered us water and was very friendly and pleasant to be around. I was so pleased with the local business! The generosity this woman showed us was above and beyond. I wish I would have caught her name. By the end of it all, I was very pleased to snag a few things for my children at a great price on my way out the door! What great and caring customer service.

This place is super cute. We bought some gear and books for the littles and rented a pack n play. It was actually a different brands version and husband didn’t like how it setup and took down. Plus we forgot to drop it off on our way out of town. They worked with us, our options were to mail it back or purchase it, we chose to mail it back and they didn’t charge for extra days. We will use them again and set a phone reminder to return it so we don’t forget again in all the hustle and bustle of getting home.

Went to Tahoe on a whim and didn’t have proper snow clothes for my 18 month old. I searched for a nearby store to buy some and found tot to tot. It was an awesome experience. Very cute store. I ended up buying more than a jacket for $ 12. They had rand new Melissa and Doug toys and even an amber teething necklace. I forgot my stroller back home and you can rent them here for $ 8 a day or even buy one for $ 15. This place made our Tahoe trip spectacular! Definitely will stop by again when I back.

The wife and I took advantage of a last minute trip to Tahoe with our 9 month old baby girl. At home everyone was sold out of baby snow gear. We were on our way to another thrift store when my wife spotted this place. What a great little store! We picked up a great little snow suit for our little girl at an amazing price. They had a ton of stuff, clothes, costumes, strollers, toys, a little bit of everything. We have another trip planned this summer. We will probably be back for some fun beach gear.

They do have pretty cheap items and sometimes offer deals but one day i brought two giant trash bags FULL to the top with baby clothing, had to be over 1,000 outfits and about a fourth of them were brand new still with tags, I left them with the staff knowing they would call me back later to see how much money I can get for all my items, They called back a few hours later and told me I will be getting $ 16 !!! WOW I totally understand this is a discounted place but for BRAND NEW ITEMS that they would sell around $ 6 each and gave me less than a penny for each item, like i literally restocked their entire store with all the things I gave them. If i would have just taken all the things back to the store, i would have gotten over $ 200. Sucks but its okay, I haven’t returned since.

Has some great deals for kids. We got baby a snow jacket for $ 9! Very well organized by size and boys and girls. Friendly lady behind counter. Would of given it a 5 star but the smell that overwhelms you the second you walk in was a bit much. Almost like urine, maybe a candle or some air freshener :/

Unplanned get away with our LO so we needed some snow gear found most of it here with great prices and a sweet lady helping us out. Perfect for items you forget while on vacation. And a great place to donate gear the LO’s grow out of :)

Called ahead and spoke to Erin and she set aside a couple pairs or snow pants for me. Went in and bought them 15 $ for good condition. We are from out of town and didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on snow clothes for a few times. Nice store. Free toy bin for kiddos

Very cool little locally owned business. We took in a changing table and Diaper Geenie for trade and though we didn’t get as much as we would have if we had sold them on Craigslist, they’re out of our house!
They give more on store credit than they do if you take cash, and there’s tons of really cute merchandise in good to great condition. They also carry new items — we saw some Melissa & Doug toys, and some really cute little sparkly tu-​tus. The store is well organized, clean and FAR from depressing — it feels more like a kid’s boutique than a second hand store!
We didn’t purchase anything today, but the 2T items I browsed looked like they were all in pretty much new condition. The prices are a little steeper than what you might expect if you’re used to shopping at the Attic, but I saw a new-​looking pair of Gymboree shorts for $ 5. Not exactly coinage I’d complain about parting with. We’ll definitely be back when our little grows out of her current size, to both trade in her old stuff and pick up the next size!
