The Deerfield Lodge

The Heavenly Suite is truly heavenly! We arrived 30 minutes after closing, and they were kind enough to wait and welcome us in person. The room (which is more like an apartment) exceeded our expectation: huge kitchen, great fireplace, comfortable beds, Jacuzzi, amazing showers and more. Look no further, this is the place to stay at South Lake Tahoe!

Such a good find — the rooms were just redone (~2 months before we stayed) with a modern style and nice finishes. Each room has a kitchenette which is great if you’re skiing and trying to get an early start (although they also have a complimentary continental breakfast) and a fireplace which is awesome at the end of a day on the slopes. The management is on site and incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations. We didn’t bring our pet but I think the hotel is pet-​friendly (although would call to confirm). Would definitely stay here again if we come back to South Lake Tahoe.

Excellent place to stay. All the staff are incredibly friendly. I highly recommend booking the heavenly suite. It’s very reasonably priced and has a full kitchen. Both bathrooms also have bidets, quite a nice luxury touch.

We had a great visit. We arrived after midnight and did a late-​check in. Due to some miscommunication with housekeeping the room was a mess, within minutes the on-​sight person Elaine moved us over a room and they comped us the night.
Lot’s of good things to say: new and modern room, the fireplace is great. We brought our 2 dogs for an extra $ 45 fee for our entire stay, I enjoyed the quietness of the lodge which was good for our dogs. The outdoor patio was great to let our dogs run around in the morning.
The internet was in and out due to the 2 feet of snow, but they were aware and were always on top of getting the service out to fix it. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to stay with pets.
One of the best customer service places I’ve stayed at. They really were available at any time and were very attentive to getting things done. Nice location as well.

My husband and I and our 6 month old pup had the MOST wonderful stay for Valentines Weekend at the Deerfield Inn. The staff is absolutely wonderful!!! From the moment we checked in they we’re super helpful in helping us navigate South Lake Tahoe, since it was our first time visiting. They made excellent suggestions on restaurants and ski hill parking! The hotel is brand new!!! They did a wonderful job remodeling the property, our room was perfect! We almost had a hard time wanting to leave the room to head for dinner each night! It truly was the most perfect weekend! It was so helpful having wine glasses, utensils and all the little extras. We made oatmeal and coffee from the K-​Cup coffee maker each morning!!! They even had hot chocolate K-​Cups!!! The fire places in the room were such a nice touch and the robes were beyond soft! All in all we had such a fun weekend in SLT and Deerfield Inn made the weekend that much more special. We were so impressed that we have decided to go again in March! I highly recommend this hotel!!! Thank you again to the incredible staff, we’re looking forward to seeing you guys soon!

The service!
From check in to check out, the staff was wonderful. They followed up with any requests we had, made sure our room was perfect, and took the time to make sure we knew how to utilize all of the great amenities of the room.
The Property!
Gorgeous! The room was beautiful, from the granite to the fireplace to the cute little patio, it was perfect. We spent Valentine’s Day weekend at the property and it could’t have been more romantic and perfect! The room was equipped with wine glasses, silverware, and plates so we were able to open a bottle of wine and have some cupcakes from the local bakery. In addition to nice décor in the room, the room also had an extremely comfortable bed, which often times is a deal breaker during travel. Lastly, there is also an interior hallway that protects from the elements which was great when it was super cold at night.
Extras!
In room K-​Kup Coffee maker, small fridge, microwave, and even the world’s softest robes were all things we didn’t expect but were delighted by. The morning breakfast was just enough to get us going for the day, and again, the friendly staff was an extra in itself.
Overall!
I would recommend the Deerfield to anyone who is Traveling with a Spouse, Traveling Alone, Traveling with Family, Traveling just to Travel, Looking for a central Location, Looking for luxury at a decent price, Looking for an Amazing get away… pretty much to ANYONE looking for anything.

What a pleasant surprise! I wasn’t really sure what we were going to get in terms of the room, as the photos of the rooms on the website were limited. Our standard king room was roomy & very nicely appointed. The bed was super comfy, the in room coffee was excellent. the little kitchen area was great too, it comes with real dishes & silverware. We always travel with our dog, so it was really nice to have a back door (in addition to the entry door) to take the dog out. This place is very quiet. I can’t wait to go back. Such a gem.

We had a great time at Deerfield lodge! It totally exceeded our expectations. All of the amenities are brand new, it is super dog friendly, and the staff was helpful and kind. Ally and Brooks were extremely accommodating. We plan on coming back and staying here with our happy dog!

Excellent customer service and LOVE the new renovated rooms. The fireplace is fabulous! The pillows were super fluffy!!! Also, Room prices are very reasonable and location is perfect!!! We love, love, love this place!!!

I found a treasure in South Lake Tahoe! They just remodeled and re-​opened!
If you are looking for a modern room with excellent service at a low price, this is the place for you.
Service was easily a ⁵⁄₅. Mr. Brooks Tait went out of his way to make it a pleasant stay as possible. He walked me to the room and gave me a tour of the room. Brooks made sure I was satisfied with the room before handing me the keys. I have never stayed at a place where a host has done this. Overall just a very friendly guy. The hours state 8am — 8pm, but Brooks was there later and Emily was there earlier than that.
Room was easily ⁵⁄₅. They apparently just remodeled and it’s actually done quite well. The exterior is a bit deceiving since the inside is very modern and feels high end. The gas fireplace comes in every room! Samsung TV, designer looking clock, Kohler sink, recessed lights, fancy lighting, nice decoration, USB power plug, microwave, mini-​fridge, beautiful silverware, the overall nice grey/​white modern tone. I loved it!
Complimentary breakfast. On weekdays, they have raisins, breakfast bars, coffee, water bottles in your room. On weekends, holidays, and in the summer, continental breakfast is served
I didn’t hear my neighbors at all, but they do enforce quiet hours after 9pm. Thank you
The parking lot was well lit at night so felt safe.
Non smoking lodge!
This place is pet friendly. My dog came with me and the pet rent was $ 25 which was very reasonable for this quality room. My dog loved the room. Slept right in front of the fireplace.

Awesome new property right down the street from the lake, Heavenly Ski Resort, restaurants, etc!!!
I have nothing but good things to say about this lodge! The managers, Brooks and Elaine, were great hosts and provided amazing customer service. You are a five minute drive from the California side of Heavenly, and a ten minute drive to Stateline, where all the casinos and nightlife are, as well as the Nevada slopes of Heavenly. Lobby was warm and cozy with a beautiful fireplace. The Heavenly Suite was amazing. Beautiful décor… Beautiful layout. A must stay. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my vacation. Do yourself a favor in South Lake Tahoe and stay at the Deerfield Lodge. I’ll definitely be back to stay so I can mountain bike in the Spring and Summer!

I have to give this two stars because I paid $ 399 for a two night stay and could not sleep because it was so dang hot in my room. There is no a/​c in this hotel! I understand that the summers are short in Tahoe but there should be a way to bring the cool night air into your room. The thermostat read ⁷⁷⁄₇₈ degrees both evenings and well u might think sleep with the window open… Well I would have but the only window was a door with no screen on it. Anyone would have been able to walk into my room while I slept since I was on the first floor.
The rooms themselves have nice finishes and the outside area is nice. My bed had two twin size comforters to cover a king bed (very odd) and the comforters had holes in them. The sheets were pilling which means they are old and not something you want to feel on your skin.
The walls are super thin and I could hear every step my neighbor upstairs took… Which was fun since I couldn’t sleep because of the heat. They gave me two keys and thankfully they did because one of them did not work in the door. Needless to say this experience left me a little frustrated.
When I checked out I was not asked how my stay was and when I let the guy know about the key he seamed to not really care… I was so done with this place I didn’t even address the heat in he room issue.
If you ever stay here stay upstairs and in the winter.

This is an interesting place. It’s an old motel that has been remodeled and done up in relatively high quality furnishings, décor, and design. The place has a wealth of barbeque/​cook out pits and they apparently have packs of s’mores for après ski, etc. In the summer, there’s a grassy courtyard with wildflowers and tall, beautiful pines and aspens that is very quaint.
The motel is close to most of what’s good about South Lake — the best restaurants are one block away. The beach is several blocks away and the ski resort is about a half mile or less (but uphill) in the other direction.
The staff is very friendly. They have something good going on here. I would definitely visit this place again.
They did some very special things for us when we mentioned we had just married, including a bottle of wine or champagne (tho we aren’t drinkers), roses in the Jacuzzi (quite nice), some goodies, and a bouquet. They found out our likes for teas and whatnot and supplied those as well. Most importantly, they made my bride feel special.
So, we both felt pampered. For once. And who doesn’t like that!

Stayed here for our wedding. Very nice! Our room (the king suite) was nice and roomy and I loved the big jacuzzi tub in the bathroom! The beds were so comfy too! Glad we picked the Deerfield Lodge! :)

This place has beautiful rooms and grounds. This is the reason why we made a reservation months ago to stay here. Unfortunately… plans changed. We called to cancel 3 weeks before our arrival date and was told they will charge a $ 25.00 cancellation fee..
I have never been charged a cancellation fee for cancelling a hotel reservation. I feel that a cancellation charge is anti-​consumer and that the hotel is trying to make money off of people. Tsk! Tsk!
Five days before the day we would’ve arrived, we received an email from
to «confirm» the reservation. We informed them the reservation was canceled over 2 weeks prior. I emailed the hotel & they said we were to contact
to cancel. If I had known that, we would have.
Long story short: I received a reply email stating booking made through their old system & waiving $ 25 fee. Today, I received my full refund. (finally)
We just had an unfortunate issue with canceling a reservation, but this hotel would be a beautiful place to stay. Just be sure if you need to cancel, to cancel where you made the reservation & get a confirmation. (either the hotel directly or the booking site you used).

Very thin walls surrounded by beautiful scenery and friendly staff. I would give this hotel five stars if it weren’t for the very thin walls. We stayed in a single queen size room on the ground floor.
If I were ever to return to this hotel I would request to stay on the second floor. Staying on the ground floor I could hear every single step the people above me took. Unfortunately I am not exaggerating.
This wouldn’t be too much of a problem if the sound was just an occasional dull, thumping noise, but it wasn’t. Every step was accompanied by a loud wood creaking noise in the ceiling that practically made my room uninhabitable, especially because the guests above us would not sit still. The sad part is they probably don’t realize they are making so much noise. I couldn’t imagine how much worse it would be if they had a couple of kids running around.
The hotel room itself was beautiful, and as soon as you step outside in the courtyard area you are enveloped in the beauty of Lake Tahoe, tall trees, blue skies, and luscious green grass.
Our bathroom was fairly small but nice. The bed was comfortable. There is no air conditioning, but there is a working fireplace below the small, fuzzy tv.
Unfortunately, all of the beauty and friendliness in the world cannot offset the thin walls in this hotel. I could literally hear someone checking their voicemail on their phone through the walls. You will hear other guests conversations clearly. You will hear people walking on the balcony above you. You will hear people dragging their luggage across the floor. You will hear people opening and closing their doors.
A hotel is supposed to give you comfort away from home and a nice place to rest once you are done with a day full of the activities Lake Tahoe has to offer. Sadly, this hotel made me wish I had stayed somewhere else.
I decided to give it a try based on the four and a half star average even though I read about the thin walls in other reviews. I thought that the noise would be tolerable, but it is not especially for the price. We paid 420 dollars for a two night stay in a hotel where we could hear people coughing and talking as though they were sitting right next to us.

No mirror in the room to check yourself before you head out. There is a very small mirror above the sink in the bathroom

This place is soooooooo nice!
I love their service. Although they are not open 24 hours… and we arrived late in the afternoon. and they close at 6pm. They (actually there was only one lady working there at the time) really tried to accommodate us as much as possible and make sure we are well taken care of, before they leave for the day.
And next morning, she is already there, with Continental breakfast ready on counter.
They were also extremely flexible with check out time (as long as there is no booking the next day). so, we didn’t have to rush to pack out stuffs in the morning, and was able to head out to the mountain early!
The room itself, very simply décor, roomy, nice and clean. A breakfast/​snack tray awaits you in the room, and every room has a Q-​cup coffee machine inside along with the Q-​cup coffees. Hot chocolate/​coffee, cookies/​snacks and some fruits are available in the lobby throughout the day. Also another Complementary, we also get to choose a bottle of wine from them as well…
Totally LOVE their the 2 full baths! the 2 full baths not only gives us privacy, also help with the morning rush as well! LIKE!!! not to mention both bathrooms are nicely décor!
Entry to the room also gives u extra space to hang your snow jackets and space to take off your snowy shoes before entering the room.
The only fall back are the thin walls… in the middle of the night, around 4 – 5 am in the morning… we were waken by the loud sounds and screams of the couple upstairs… so u better wish your upstairs/​next door neighbors are not having any kind of battle in their rooms…

I really want to give this hotel 5 stars, I really do. And it would be 5 stars if it weren’t for one thing… THIN WALLS!!! And really, what is the point of a nice hotel if you can’t sleep in it? The walls are so thin, I could clearly hear the couple in the room next to us having a VERY good time. Then they turned on the TV afterwards and that was loud enough to make it hard to get to sleep. Then they turned on the TV again at around 6am. Lovely. I didn’t want to sleep on my vacation anyway…
But the staff was really wonderful and accommodating. They let us switch rooms, and were super sweet and nice about it. Of course, it was still loud wherever we went, the floors creak and no matter if you are on the top floor or bottom floor, you can hear people walking in the hallway (but its worse on the bottom!).
The showers and hot tubs are awesome, beds are comfy, they have a firm and a soft pillow on each bed, with extra pillows, too. Everything was wonderful, but I just can’t get past the super thin walls. Not cool.

My boyfriend and I came here for a long weekend. The room was HUGE with a kitchen, 2 bathrooms (with 3 showers total), a jacuzzi, two TVs and a big bed. The room was also stocked with some snacks and the hotel offered some light breakfast as well as bottles of red and white wines which were free for taking.
Overall a great experience and would recommend!

The Deerfield Lodge is a good place. It is an excellent dog friendly lodge with a very easy going dog policy (no deposit, great area for walks, etc).
I really enjoyed this place — we stayed in a 1Br suite with a separate bedroom and living room. The suite was incredibly large with two bathrooms and nice furnishings.
Great place. I will be back next winter.
