Small place, easily missed if you don’t drive around to the back. People are nice, cash only and they charge you after you’ve eaten. Prices are good and so is the food! I had the nachos and it was a little too much food for me, but the kids helped finish off the plate. My husband had the steak sandwich and its smaller than he’s used to but had good flavor. My daughter loved the little salsa/condiment bar she can never have enough onions with cilantro and she kept on serving herself, until I cut her off. I would define one back!

This has been a local fixture for over 10 years. I wish it was still our little local secret — its annoying that it gets so packed during busy season but it’s the best mexican restaurant up here and the owners deserve the business so i guess i can share with the tourists

Taqueria Jalisco is always a great option for food whenever I visit Tahoe. It is the very definition of hole-in-the-wall Mexican food — tasty food, fairly cheap, cash-only, and has a good salsa bar. Their service is always quick and we’re always greeted kindly whenever we get there. Their tacos, enchiladas, and super burritos are all great and I’ve always enjoyed them. The California Burrito is good too, however it can be a bit heavy on the fries. My favorite part of the restaurant is that their salsa bar has a great green salsa which I apply liberally to everything I order. Plus, their portions are always generous. Overall it’s not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, but it’s certainly tasty enough and is worth a try whenever you’re in Tahoe!

I feel terrible giving one star, but the food was awful. I always take leftover to go no matter how little I have left, but I left a whole fish taco and half my chicken quesadilla. The service was good though.

I love this place!!! They are all SOOO friendy, the make me smile everytime I come in. They have good portion sizes. The chicken and veggie super burritos are super yummy and the nachos are really yummy too although I wish they would put a little more toppings on the nachos. But all in all, really really friendly cute place! I would reccomend.

I’ve been coming here for almost 25 years, it’s always consistent and always yummy. I love their salsa bar! My most commonly ordered items are tacos and the veggie burrito. The burritos are huge. Everything is cooked fresh right there where you can see it. The taquitos are also amazing. This little hidden family run taquaria is a must go to when in South Shore!

This place is the best. Cheap, hole in the wall in a back alley behind a strip mall place. Amazing tacos, and burritos. Fresh made chips and superb salsa bar. The crevice toastadas and lengua tacos are my favorite but it is all so good! Perfect after a day of outdoor fun or anytime. They also have cold cerveza. Must stop when I south lake.

We were brought here by a local — loved it AND came back later with other Tahoe tourists. The taco’s were a hit — and there’s not too many that get my lengua taco’s right! Hush all you lengua haters! Of course, no one else in either party got the lengua but everyone was silently digging in — so they were happy with theirs too!

The food and price are great, The manager demanded to see an ID card or paper for my service dog. I have a «legitimate» service dog and fortunately had papers with me to prove it. But the thing is by law, one can NOT 1. Require special ID cards for the animal 2. Ask about the persons disability 3. Charge extra fees 4. Isolate a person and their service animal from other people. Under the State and local government, businesses and nonprofit organizations that serve the Public generally must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas of the facility where the public in normally allowed to go. I like the place I have not decided if I am going to turn them in to the ADA yet or not. Right now I am leaning toward reporting them!

Hate to leave bad reviews. But these tacos where the nastiest tacos I’ve ever had. I guess the prices are reasonable. I haven’t tried everything on the menu but wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Meat was chewy and very cold. Didn’t taste like carne asana at all.

This was a little hole-in-the-wall place — at least it seems that way from the outside, it’s actually quite large inside. The tacos were really good, with a salsa bar that had 4 options, all delicious. We were all very full and satisfied after the meal. Also, low prices! 1 taco is just $ 1.50! Amazing. Good find right by lake view commons beach.

Yum, delicious, perfect! Togo’d 3 Cali burritos(asada, carnitas, chile verde), 2 asada tacos, and 5 helados for me, my wife, and three boys(ages 9, 6, and 3). The helados disappeared immediately while we drove to the beach. Once we got there, we dove into the food. Everything was delicious … the Cali burritos have meat, cheese, sour cream, and french fries in them … perfect! My only complaint was that the burritos were just so big that we couldn’t eat them all and then we spent the afternoon fighting off the geese at the beach who were trying to steal the leftovers. HAH! There is no need to visit any other taco shop in South Lake Tahoe. Ever. Just go here.

If you come here, get the Super Burrito, it’s well worth the money Some friends and I were in Tahoe for the weekend. After a long day of snowboarding, we were really craving something hearty. Mexican food always seems to hit the spot. Most of us ordered the Super Burrito, which I feel is probably the best item on the menu. Their steak and carnitas were really good, but I definitely recommend the LENGUA. If you have never had lengua before, try it now! This place knows exactly what it’s doing. The lengua was super tender, juicy and satisfying. What was a little disappointing is that this place is Cash only. And the chips they gave you as a side were portioned very small. But other than that, the food was really good :)

My kids ate plain carne asada tacos, I had one too. The meat was much better than in other taquerias. Also had the fish taco… if you can only order one thing. Fish taco it is! My hubby had the tamale combo, at the end there was nothing left on the plate. Plus you can’t beat the price. 4 people ate for only $ 18! It is cash only, while my husband went to the atm at the corner liquor store they took our order and gave us chips and encouraged us to get our drinks to the table.(By the way, the chips tasted super fresh) They are also very nice people. The dinning area is a little dark, but very authentic. Also, there is a huge tv which is appropriate for the type of restaurant. The location is not fancy at all, but is perfect as it is. Also, the entrance is on the back of the stop mall.

Just tried this place for the first time today. This is now my favorite taqueria in the area. I had a carnitas super burrito. First off. Holy cow, it was huge! And not filled with mostly rice and beans. The pork was good. They add shredded lettuce which was a nice surprise. Not knowing how big the burrito was going to be. I also ordered two lengua tacos. They. Were. AWESOME. The tongue was delicious. The best I’ve had so far in the tahoe/carson area. So a big ass burrito, two tacos and a bottle of soda was only $ 10. Great value. Oh and the gentleman working the counter was very friendly. I can see myself eating here twice a week

This is a small hole in the wall place right when you enter the California side of Lake Tahoe coming from Nevada. It’s a hidden gem as you have to go behind all the restaurants fronting the street and park in the rear parking lot. Don’t let the scary hole in the wall vibe scare you off. You enter this metal screen door, and there is a register with refrigerators full of drinks. All tacos are $ 1.50 and it comes with a basket of chips. You pay, take your number and pick a table and your food will come out. In the dining area it is dark and kind of ghetto, but no one bothers and there is a mix of people eating. There is a salsa bar with 2 salsas(red and green), pico de gallo, onions/cilantro mix, and pickled jalapeño peppers(whole). I docked one star because the salsa and pico were really lacking spice. It was not hot at all and needed more salt. No matter how much salsa I put on my taco it really did not give it a kick. Thankfully, there are the pickled jalapenos to save the day. The tacos come in pollo, carne asada, carnitas and fish. There are also burritos that are popular. I got three carnitas. It was soft, and tasty on a real soft tortilla. Even though the salsa sucked, this was a cheap meal for lunch and you can’t beat it.
