Pinnacle Lake Tahoe Getaways

We usually rent through owner owned sites like Airbnb or VRBO. However, we couldn’t find a house for our large group on a holiday weekend so we ended up going to Pinnacle’s website. The house on Ski Run Blvd was true to the pictures — you get what you see. It’s big and has 7 or 8 bedrooms and a TV in each room. It’s spacious but it really lacked many details that could have made the house really great:
–Dirty hot tub. I got folliculitis from the hot tub on the 2^nd night. We called them and they said they have a service that cleans/​shocks the hot tub but I wonder if it’s not treated regularly
–Not enough basics. We had to buy dishwasher detergent, paper towels, dinner napkins, laundry detergent, etc. They had maybe 10 spoons for a house for 18. On the other hand, they had plenty of forks.
–No big pot for cooking. Only small pots.
–One bedroom didn’t have any window coverings at all so the kids woke up way too early and were tired rest of the day.
–Not enough towels in the kitchen.
–Cable didn’t work in the family room near the kitchen.
–Dishwasher tray is broken so it doesn’t roll in and out.
–Not enough cooking utensils.
Loved the 5 min drive to Heavenly from the house though.

Most friendly realtors I’ve even encountered. My girlfriend and I had a stressful time finding a 1 bedroom. Most places didn’t even want to consider us. We walked in and 10 mins later we were walking out to view an apartment. 4 days later we got approved and I was able to pay the deposit. Honestly eveyone in the office was nice and friendly and I would recommend them to anyone! I would ignore the bad review on here because they were probably rude to them and why would they want to rent to someone rude???

Where do I start, I am a local that was looking for a long term rental. I came across a rental through them that looked promising and applied right away. When I spoke to someone on the phone they were kind and told me I was the first applicant and to come in to get keys to view the property. I came the next day as optimistic as I could be considering the stressful circumstances i was undergoing and was introduced to a woman upstairs that just looked at me like I was a fuc**** idiot and then ignored my presence when I tried to be friendly and talk to her .I was then helped by another woman (a little bit nicer) and was told one other person applied the same time I did and would keep in touch… also offered a discount on a different unit if I was not picked. A little discouraged i thanked her only to not get a phone call. when i called them they transfered me to Jeff? who blatantly said i was declined and when I asked why he snickered at me and did not answer my question. Overall I felt immensely disrespected by my treatment here. Unprofessional and rude. Thanks for ruining my week! Not to mention the $ 35 application fee what a rip off.

I’ve traveled a lot to Tahoe and stayed at many places, I chose to use pinnacle this time because it was referred by a friend who has used them before. We went for 3 days and within the first 2 hours we had problems with the pinnacle office, cabin, and the cabin resort office. In the instructions that I was email it said we had to check into the office to get parking passes, I went to the pinnacle office and was greeted by a rude women who continued to tell me she didn’t know what I was talking about and couldn’t help me cause she wasn’t a rental agent. After about 10 minutes of her not helping I left because by my mistake I had to go to the actual cabins resort office. Once at the cabin we had many issue with no hot water in one shower so 9 people had to share the one shower that had hot water, to lamps not working, to sinks with no handles, and no wifi. All amenities that they posted on the website that was suppose to be included. Everyone we contacted with questions or help were either rude or pointless to talk to. I wrote them an email and have yet to hear back from them but with the poor service and cabin we got there I’m not surprised they haven’t contacted me. I will definitely not use them again and do not recommend to anyone to use this place.

Our family of four stayed for four nights in one of the unit managed by this group (1160 Herbert Ave. Unit B) last July. We have stayed in many vacation rentals all over the world but this certainly is not our favorite one. The unit does not look at all like what was pictured on the website. It is decent size but it was very dark inside. The request to change the light bulbs to a higher Wattage was ignored completely. There were ants everywhere. Most of the necessities that were advertised were not available, no hair dryer, the wi-​fi signal is so weak that there was virtually none. After investigating, we realized that they set up one wifi router for every other building (each building has four units). So the units that are far away from the wifi router gets no signal. On the other hand, you get a very strong signal at the complex swimming pool! So unless you hang out at the pool all the time…
The place is cheap so I guess you should only expect a two star treatment.

Pinnacle made everything very straightforward and the house we booked was exactly what we were looking for and as advertised. It was my first time booking a rental house andTeeda helped me every step of the way. They even have an app that you can download on your phone! We went for a bachelor/​bachelorette party in April with 9 adults and booked a 4 bedroom 3.5 bath house through Pinnacle. The house was better than expected with plenty of space for all of us and we booked a house that Teeda recommended for us. Our one complaint– the access code they gave me to get into the house was not correct. I had to call when we got there and after the second call was able to get through to someone who after about 30 seconds got us the correct access code. They were prompt in fixing the solution and attentive so I will not give them a lower rating since this was our one and only issue. Would definitely book with Pinnacle again.

This was the first year we ended up staying at a management property instead of an owner owned property and I doubt we will do so again.
To preface, I was not feeling well over our Tahoe weekend and almost did not make it. The reps of the company themselves were extremely easy to deal with and returned my call directly and promptly, however while the property itself was gorgeous, there were a number of drawbacks to each positive mark.
Little things, such as a lack of any extra sheets (the pull out couch was un-​made), no trash cans in any room but the bathrooms, a shortage of toilet paper and towels made for irritating surprises. We were a tad taken aback at the short and mildly threatening warnings posted in several areas of the house about noise control, lewd behavior and fines.
The house was well equipped in the kitchen, had parking for four (if one car were fairly small) as well as warm and clean sheets on each bed, though later we found one room to be infested with bedbugs, the bites of which one of our party developed several scars from.
Additionally they lacked a humidifier, which would have made a world, I’M SERIOUS, A WORLD of difference. Their double fireplaces were wonderful as was the luxurious shower, but the dryness of the air caused a mass amount of issues within our group. As did the fact that a cat had lived there, both fairly recently and for a long amount of time.
At least half our group developed fairly bad allergies as well as congestion and what seemed to be flea bites (which we later found out to be bedbug bites) and though we make the trip every year, we have never developed the same amount of health issues in prior years.
Next year we will be staying at an owner owned pet-​unfriendly property, a place that is someone’s home and not a showhouse as this location sadly seems to be.

Had a flawless rental experience from Pinnacle in late February. A group of friends rented a mansion near the base of Heavenly. The house was in even better condition that it looked in the photos. Payment by credit card was easy and the security deposit was returned within 2 weeks of check-​out. Would rent with Pinnacle again!

We had the pleasure of staying at one of the rental propertys over Presidents Day weekend with our friends and we cant stop talking about the place that we rented. Everything met or exceeded our expectations. The managerment team was accomodating to our needs and were very professional. We are definitely going to recommed them to our friends and family.

We love S. Tahoe and Pinnacle Real Esate Group! Dana and Michelle Benedict are so nice and very professional. We have been booking cabins and homes through them and their website for over 6 years now and we are always impressed with the rentals and their ability to be available to us. We have rented several different cabins and rentals over the years and they have always followed up with us and every call has always been returned. However, The Bears Den is by far our favorite and we have stayed there more times than I can count. I have the utmost respect for them; they are always warm, welcoming, professional and accomodating. We will continue to use them exclusively to book our vacation getaways while in S. Tahoe.

Every year my family and I go on our annual vacation to Tahoe. Prior to finding Pinnacle Lake Tahoe Getaways, I booked cabins using various sites with mixed results. About four years ago we found a cabin on Pinnacle’s site and decided to give them a try. We fell in love with the cabin and customer service provided by Pinnacle. We have booked with Pinnacle each year since. Two years ago, a situation at work came up and I needed reschedule at the last minute. The staff at Pinnacle was friendly and helpful at helping me reschedule our reservation for a couple weeks later. This year, everyone in my family including became ill just before we were supposed leave for our trip. Since I knew it would be a very miserable week with everyone just laying around in the cabin being sick, I decided to call Pinnacle (at the last moment again) to see if there was any way to reschedule our reservation. I spoke to Sherry who was very understanding and considerate of my situation. With ease she assisted me in moving my reservation to a couple weeks later. I was so relieved and thankful. I will without a doubt continue to use them in the future and recommend them to anyone who is going to stay in the Tahoe area.
Besides Sherry, I have been helped by Teeda, Flip, and several others. They have also been very helpful and friendly as well.

We stayed at 1363 Wildwood in South Lake Tahoe from Sat to Sat the week of Thanksgiving 2011. The code they gave us would not open the door, luckily, the upstairs door was unlocked so we could get in. It took several phone calls to figure out how to re-​code the door so it would open. The heat had not been turned on for us so it was freezing the first night, there were plenty of extra blankets so we kept warm. The upstairs fireplace would not turn on, but after Pinnacle called a guy came out and he brought us 2 very large electric heaters (we had gone to K-​mart & bought some… got our money back) the front room lights would not come on, they needed bulbs, and the only electrical plug In the upstairs bathroom would not work, but he fixed that too. We had 5 adults & 3 kids and had PLENTY of room. The ceilings are very high with lots of spider webs & spiders to go with them… the game room with the pool table & air hockey was a blast… however the website says there is a pinball machine… but it would not come on even after I put in $ 1.50 in quarters… so that was disappointing. The kitchen stove was awesome… and the place was clean and with the creaky wood floors we all knew when someone was up in the morning. It is very close to skiing and town so the location was perfect. and it is in a very quiet area. All in all a very good vacation in South Lake Tahoe.

I haven’t checked into our cabin yet but I had to leave a review for Sherry (one of the reps). I have been working with her from the get go and she has been SO helpful.
Originally I was looking at a cabin but was interested in others as well. Not only did she respond within 30 minutes of my email but she gave me a handful of options with prices already attached. After deciding on the cabin and letting her know I was ready to move forward she sent me the price breakdowns and and her phone contact info right away. I called her the next morning and she set me up with the contract which was simple and easy to understand.
I’m very excited to go up to our cabin and hope it’s everything we are hoping for! Thanks Sherry for all of your help!

I had nothing but a great experience with Pinnacle. They were very laid back and followed through with all details. They allowed me to split up the payment on two credit cards which was nice because It would have went over my limit.
The house we rented was absolutely amazing. The house was very clean and brand new. It had every amenity we needed for the weekend.
Pinnacle is a great rental company. I would recommend them to my friends.

False advertising. The cabin we rented was suppose to be 10 minutes away from Heavenly (more like 25) and accommodate ten people (more like 8.) Place was suppose to have complimentary firewood and a bottle of wine. We called and after a bit of hassle, they sent a kid to bring us some wet wood that wouldn’t burn. For the wine they told us they forgot to stock up on Costco wine, so we were just out of luck. At least the hot tub and dishwasher worked. The hair dryer in the draw was a no go. The smoke detector battery was dying (thus beeping all night.) As we packed to leave the housekeeper wasn’t notified of our advanced request for late checkout.
Other then that, nice place, lots of board games, plenty of kitchenware, appliances and amenities. Comfy bedding, well heated, cozy.

* Entered an occupied rental property unannounced and without forewarning.
* Constantly harrassed guests during stay.
* Complete mishandling of CC payment.
* Ignored the BBB when a complaint was filed.
A group of friends and I booked a Lake Tahoe rental property with Pinnacle Lake Tahoe Getaways (PLTG) initially through a third party internet site, and never received confirmation from the company. I took the initiative to contact PLTG to ensure the confirmation of my reservation since the amount was immediately charged to my credit card. A sales representative stated that the rental property I selected was already booked, and that I should not have been charged. The sales rep apologized for the inconvenience and said that she would investigate the charge to my credit card and contact me upon resolution. It was not until after 2 – 3 attempts that I was able to find out why charges have been made to my account.
Upon our arrival as we proceeded to unload the vehicle, we were unaware that the neighbor had been watching us unload/​unpack into the property, as he began to harass one of the guests on the side porch facing his house, threatening to call the rental property and the police and making false accusations that my guests and I were throwing a party.
The following morning we noticed that the neighbor stepped on to the driveway of our rental property, and began to write down our license plate numbers. Around 5:30PM that evening, Flip Walker, a co-​owner of the company, entered the rental property unauthorized and unannounced and with no prior phone call accusing us of breaking the rules of the rental agreement. Mr. Walker explained that the neighbor had made several complaints about us, and he decided that it was appropriate to make an appearance in order to resolve this issue.
Several hours later, I receive 3 – 4 phone calls from Dana Benedict (owner of PLTG) stating that the neighbor has continuously called PLTG with complaints and accusations. Mr. Benedict called me several times after 10PM and 11PM. At the time, several guest members of the party were off the premises seeking an escape from the stressful cabin rental experience with the psychotic neighbor whom Dana and Flip were completely aware of and did not make us aware of, as well as the constant scrutiny from both PLTG and the neighbor. The remaining members of our party were back at the cabin sleeping. Mr. Benedict stated that since I was with the part of the group that was not on the premises that he required to speak with a member of our party who was to verify the number of people that were in the building to prove that we were not throwing a party so after 11PM I was forced to call and awaken a member of our party to have them call Mr. Benedict, at his demand, to verify that we were not breaking the rules or throwing a party as the neighbor had stated.
(On a side note let it be known that the group of individuals occupying the rental property were all working professionals — engineers, nurses, teachers. Only two members of our party were below 30 and our party included two married couples — far from the raucous teenager party-​goers that the staff at PLTG treated us as).
After the experience of constantly being harrassed by both the neighbor as well as Dana Benedict and Flip Walker of PLTG we attempted to seek a partial refund for a ruined vacation. When Mr. Benedict returned our phone call (after several attempts) he simply stated that he was a property manger and that it was out of his hands and that the owner of the property wouldn’t be interested in providing us with any sort of compensation (without consulting him). He offered only a free night stay in the future and stated that it would be discounted off of the standard minimum 2 night stay with one of their properties. In other words there would be no refund and that he was offering a discount only if we paid more money to PLTG in the future. Pretty shady.
He went on the state that this ‘free’ night was what they call a ‘promotional night’, which is what they give out to members of the press, etc., because it had no value to him. I stated that it had no value to us either since, based on all of our experiences with PLTG, there would not be a next time that we would be staying with them. Mr. Benedict stated that this was all that he was willing to do so we could take it or leave it.
I would not, under any circumstance, recommend this company. These two are terrible business people and this was a horrible experience.
Follow up: After filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau requesting a response — PLTG completely ignored them as well. Apparently they are willing to sacrafice their standing with the BBB in order to continue their poor business practices.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!

I would NEVER recommend this rental company to anyone. Although my group of friends and I are young working professionals (late 20’s), we were treated as under-​aged teenagers, and scrutinized during our entire vacation.
If you are looking for a rental property company in Lake Tahoe, I DO NOT suggest that you use this company.

These guys are the best. I used them several times and everything I needed was handled professionally and with great customer service. I cannot recommend them enough! A great rental company with some really cute cabins. It was hard to pick my favorite cabin on the website.
