First time here so it may be a fluke. However, the sashimi I ordered was still frozen. The ones that were not quite frozen had a watery gush when I bit into it. Not impressed. Had to order stable food like gyoza and edemame.

Love this place. We eat here often and always have delicious food. The fire fighter roll and ecstacy are our two favorites.

Excellent flavorful sushi. I love the salmon nigiri. The staff was so friendly. This is definitely my new sushi place. Each dish just melts on my tongue. Love it.

The 3 ½ star overall review seem exactly right to me. The food is good, not great, and you’ll have a decent experience, but not be blown away. The good: –Convenient location –Good service –Food served quickly –Not just sushi on the menu. They have several other Japanese classics The bad: –Tables are very close to each other. It was full on the Saturday night we visited and it felt like we were sharing our table with the other diners. –Gloopy mayo everywhere! The sushi had so much mayo on it, probably a tablespoon per piece. It made it hard to taste the fish. I ended up scraping it off. –If you don’t get in early on the weekend, prepare to wait. The verdict: good, but probably not good enough to come back regularly.

4 out of 5 times that I’ve come here I’ve received horrible service. The distance from my home makes it convenient to come– and for that reason I continue to come. I’m simply here because the restaurant 20 steps away has a 35 min wait.

We’ve been here several times. Sometimes it’s good, other times not so much. I like a firm fish for my sushi, it’s a sign off freshness. The Snow White is usually a good roll. I’ve gotten to the point where I want to see the fish before I commit. Not my favorite sushi place but it’s close to home when I have a craving and don’t feel like fighting the crowds at Takashi.

Happened to walk in here while waiting for a movie. This was nothing short of amazing. Good flavor, prompt service. Our waitress, Victoria, was the most friendly, knowledgeable, HAPPY, I’ve ever seen. This is a must if your picky like I am.

The sushi is good and the appetizers are decent. The price is great too. This is my ‘B’ sushi place. I like eating here but there are other places in salt lake I like better. Mizumi and tsunami are both better in my opinion. Mainly because they are actual fine dining restaurants. Blue fish has a nice atmosphere but they need a chef to redo their entrée menu. All blue fish does well is sushi. The rest of their menu tastes like dishes made from Asian market seasoning packets. There’s nothing on this menu I couldn’t make better myself. Not saying their food tastes bad, but I’m passionate about cooking and I hold restaurants, especially Japanese ones, to a high standard. So, yes Blue fish sushi is good… But they really should take Asian cuisine off their signage because It’s not. Not trying to be mean. I just see a good restaurant in a good location with lots of potential to be better at representing themselves as a real culinary experience.

I always come here when I’m Draper for business. I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve ordered here. I’ve only ever been here around lunch time but it has never been too crowded. I’m giving it 4 instead of 5 stars because many of their rolls are covered in sauce. I know most people prefer for their rolls to be mostly rice and fish, but I actually prefer the fried rolls with all of the spicy mayo.

This place is a hidden gem. It’s hardly ever crowded, but it is so good. My favorite sushi place. The district roll and mango tango are my favorite, but I’ve never had a bad roll there. Go there now! Delish!

On a Sunday evening my wife was craving sushi, Problem was we’re in the Suburbs of Salt lake on a Sunday late afternoon no sushi joints gonna be open right? Wrong it was and we were thankful. It’s located right at the district in front if the theaters, we were seated promptly and the rolls were decent but the seaweed wrap in the sushi itself seemed a little bit unfresh, meaning it was to rubbery. The waitress also informed us they maybe out of rice soon so no guarantees. We understood because we were an hour to closing. The ambience was chill, they had an outside patio that looked nice. So for the location, casualness and just ok sushi and ok service they’ll get between 3.5 stars. Since there’s no 3.5 stars I’ll round it up because I’m a nice guy.

I came here a while back on a weeknight with my cousin. The interior of the place is decorated nicely and very clean. Our waitress was friendly and the pace of the service was decent. The food, however, wasn’t great. The sushi here is what I like to call«Paula Dean Sushi». Nearly every roll either has some sort of friend element or is loaded down with mayo and sickeningly sweet sauces(some of the rolls come with both!). For me, my favorite sushi rolls are simple, with little flair that really lets the quality of the fish come through. Here I found myself scraping mayo off of my rolls so I could actually taste the fish. If you’re looking for REALLY good sushi in Utah, it’s worth the trip downtown to Takashi where the rolls always taste fresh and the menu is more diverse.

Sushi is sub par. There are a lot of deep fried rolls on the menu that just have imitation crab meat in them with some tobiko on top. The rolls that are not deep fried don’t have an abundance of fish in them. Basically California rolls with smoked salmon or tuna, and they want top dollar for them. Service is hit and miss, and the waitresses or waiters expect a tip with crappy service. I prefer sakana in Jordan landing. More fresh sushi rolls to choose from, and only two deep fried rolls on the menu.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch, and. well, let me just describe it. There was 1 guy on the wait staff — that’s it. So you can imagine when people started rolling in by the table fulls, he’d go to the back to get food/drinks, leaving people to wait alone at the front door — one couple even straight up left because they waited too long. Not cool. Anywho, the food took a little while to come out but when it did(coconut shrimp, hot night roll, ecstacy, south jordan roll), it was GOOD. Like, 4 stars good. So, why the 3 stars? The water refill took about 10 – 20 minutes to get, and I had to flag down the waiter to get any water at all. Recap — food is pretty darn good. Service, meh. But if you’re in the area, might as well — right?

The Blue Fish was an unexpected culinary delight. Nestled amongst shops in The District shopping center, Blue Fish delivers flavors that are extremely uncommon anywhere in Utah. I had the Teriyaki Salmon(with Vegetable Tempura, Rice) in a combo(with Miso Soup, Ginger Dressing Salad – both absolutely delicious!), plus Coconut Prawns. My Wife had the Korean BB Ribs, and my daughter ate the Orange Chicken(with Tempura, Rice), and also in the combo. My Salmon was superb. The Teriyaki was balanced properly, and the salmon itself was crispy on the outside and moist and perfectly cooked on the inside. The Orange Chicken was incredible, without being coated in the orange sauce you find in so many Chinese restaurants. My wife loved the Korean BBQ Ribs, downing the entire plate of them pretty much by herself. The flavors of all our dishes were perfectly balanced and evoked the many restaurants I ate at in Seattle’s China Town as I grew up. To put it bluntly, the food and cuisine were very un-Utah-like, and our meal was nothing short of superb! The ONLY knock I will list is the waiting time. There are no reservations, so tables are given on a waiting list. The staff failed to seat guests properly on the waiting list. We were told 15 – 20 minutes. However, after just over an hour we were finally seated, while several tables were seated ahead of us that came in long after we had arrived. This definitely needs to be addressed by the FOH(Front of House) Staff. The restaurant also carries a full range of Sushi, Sashimi and other freshly prepared Japanese offerings.(I personally can’t eat these due to an allergy to MSG(in the seaweed) and due to my status on the kidney transplant list.)

This places service is good. The sushi is pretty good. It’s JUSTWAY pricey and it’s not some classy joint either. If it was even SLIGHTLY cheaper, like a dollar fifty less per roll, it would deserve five stars. But for their prices I guess I expect more. But it’s in the District and there isn’t any other sushi around. So you go here. You go here on a Sunday morning… hung over, and order 3 bottles of sake. You drink them and you think to yourself, «hey, didn’t my grandfather to war with the Japanese in World War II?» Then you order another bottle of sake and 4 more rolls. 160 bucks later you stumble out and get a burger from Red Robin.

Went here yesterday and I usually love it, but it has been a couple months since my last visit. The place was dead. There was one lady picking up a small take out order And us two. The waitress is awful, she insisted on taking our order without writing anything down, short order style, but two minutes later had to come verify our very simple order. A few minutes later we heard her do the same thing to the only other couple who came in while we were there. Time to start writing things down! The food was bad, partially cooked chicken in the chicken bowl. The sushi tasted like the fish wasn’t fresh, maybe because of aging stock and dwindling patronage. I won’t be back here again, after many visits and years of patronage.

i was originally planning on going to tsunami for lunch on sunday, but unfortunately once we arrived they were closed(fail on my part — always check hours on sundays!). after frantically searching through Unilocal(i was super hungry) for about 10 minutes trying to find a sushi place that was open we found blue fish. after calling to confirm that yes they were open(i was not about to make the same mistake twice) we headed over. when we arrived there were only two other tables and the service started off great. by the end they had gotten quite busy(10 tables full) with only one server. i felt so bad for her as she was seriously running around, but she managed to still take care of us and provide good service. +1 star for that. on to the food now. so they didn’t have a gluten free menu, but i managed to find stuff that i could eat. besides the basic rolls, practically all of their specialty rolls are fried or have tempura. they were able to modify some of the rolls by eliminating the imitation crab and having the sauce on the side which i appreciated. i tried to order uni nigiri, but they had run out the previous night. after eating the sushi i was thankful that they no longer had uni cause i doubt the quality would have been good. most of the rolls were just ehh and definitely overpriced. i ordered a custom made cucumber roll and it came out to $ 14 which is about the same price as one at takashi. yes takashi is way better than this place so maybe they should knock the prices down a bit. the other roll i ordered, south district, was also $ 13 and it was not good at all. when i ate it there was a weird texture in it and i thought it was a toothpick or something, but turns out it was carrots. who puts carrots in sushi? that was odd. it did not work for sushi. my two cousins thought their rolls(playboy, popcorn, the district, snow white, etc.) were okay also and overall we were not impressed. most of my cousins’ rolls were covered with so much sauce which is probably how they cover up the taste of the fish(not fresh maybe?). i really wish there were more sushi places open for lunch on sundays. i actually did get sick a few hours after eating here so i question the quality of their raw fish. it could have been an off day for them, but i don’t like to take chances with my sensitive stomach. so if you eat here maybe stick with cooked rolls/fish just to be safe.

I went to the Blue Fish tonight, with a large group for a friends birthday, and the staff was helpful in accommodating everyone. I tried a bunch of different rolls, including the Snow White, Popcorn, Spicy Tuna, South Jordan, and the Crunchy Dragon. The Snow white was by far the best, everything in this roll is cooked, so it would be a great option for someone a little less adventurous in the sushi world. The Popcorn was also really great, the«popcorn» is little balls of deep fried scallions. Their Spicy Tuna was also really simple and tasty, a good classic. The spicy mayo and eel sauce top of the majority of their specialty rolls and it really brings the whole dish together and is super delicious. The restaurant had a nice serene, relaxing vibe. Dim lighting and low music in the background. Good sushi and good service.
