Jim Smog & Auto Care Service

Jim is professional, efficient, fairly priced, and quick. I have been coming here for years. Smog check was only 50 $ plus certificate. Not sure why there are negative reviews. I have been here over a dozen times throughout the years and never had an issue.

I Only gave one star because Unilocal makes you put at least one. He deserves –stars. DO NOT GO HERE if you value your time and money!!! Not only is he over priced ($ 70.00 + cert.) he is super SLOW and RUDE!!! Seriously, it’s like he doesn’t care about other people’s time or return business. After waiting 20 minutes for him to do one car before me, he made me wait another 15 minutes while he recalibrated his machine. No one was behind me so why didn’t he just calibrate after me?! When he finally did the check it it didn’t pass and he tried to send me to a friend of his to correct the problem. Not a chance!!! I went to my mechanic instead to check it, but he couldn’t find a problem so I took it back and this time it passed even though nothing was done to it. What’s that about? My opinion is he may be a crook, he is definitely SLOW AND OVERPRICED!!! There are many other smog check places here in Downey, all of which I suspect have got to be better, probably cheaper and definitely faster! I don’t think this guy deserves to stay in business. He certainly won’t get my business again. What a putz!

Not really sure how anyone gave this place anything less than 4 stars. I don’t work at this place nor do I know the owner as a friend of any sort but I’ve been coming here for well over 6 years and have NEVER had a problem with this place. The man who does the smog check is the owner and he is as reserved as they get. I have never seen him upset or belligerent. Perhaps someone got a different place mixed up with this business I don’t know. I did post a picture of the front to hopefully stop anyone getting confused about what business this is.
Trust me, I use Unilocal to know where to go and I know if you read the 1 star reviews you would do what I do and not visit this place. Seriously, this place is a great place to go to, Maybe it isn’t Beverly Hills but it gets the job done and at a reasonable cost. Visit this place and look at my history, I’m not some reviewer with only 1 review.

There are many reputable smog check shops close by that are clean, trustworthy, and charge less. This place is a dump and the co-​owner is threatening, aggressive and angry. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere, anywhere, else.

Don’t go here. Made me wait 45 minutes and charged me 90 bucks for a smog.
