Description

Specialties

Our estate vineyard on the beautiful Bartholomew Park (picnic-perfect setting) produces extremely limited quantities of Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that are only available for purchase at the winery or on our website, bartpark.com.

The estate vineyard is organically farmed, on the site where european grapevines were first planted in the US. Our winery museum gives visitors a great insight into the history of the property, the California wine industry and Sonoma Valley.

History

Established in 1994.

The vineyards at Bart Park were first planted in the 1830s by Hungarian nobleman Agoston Haraszthy who purchased the property in 1857. Many consider his first vintage the birth of the California fine wine industry. More of a visionary than businessman, however, Count Haraszthy was forced from the property for financial reasons in 1867. The land changed hands several times before being sold to Frank Bartholomew, a pioneering journalist, in the early 1940s.

The current winery was founded in 1994 when the family entrusted the legacy to the Bundschu family, who brought a vision to produce handcrafted wines reflective of the grand history and unique character of this estate. Though the winery is relatively young, the Bundschu family has been growing grapes and making wine on their nearby Rhinefarm Estate since 1858, and embraced the opportunity to honor and advance the tradition of this site.
