Paul was absolutely amazing fixed a chewed wore in my care for free because it was not safe. Amazing legit guy.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. I had a screw in my Subaru Impreza AWD that was not repairable. Paul told me I would need the same tire to match my other three tires, but then tried to pull a fast one on me because he ended up putting the wrong tire on my car that was much cheaper. An incorrect tire will damage any AWD car overtime. He also told me that I would not make it more than 100 mi before my brake pads started to hit the rotors. I took my Subaru to my dealership the next day and they told me I have at least 20,000 mi left on my pads before I even have to consider new tires. They said Paul wasn’t necessarily lying, but he didn’t know what he was looking at. Paul also tried to sell me on an oil change which I did not need yet either. Be aware not to go through with anything that Paul recommends… he will call you before your car is ready for pickup to tell you a list of things you need to fix to take your money. Like I said, avoid at all costs. I was a 24 year old female who this place tried to take advantage of.

Don’t know where to start but here it goes…
Brought in my car to get some minor work done, or at least minor to a place that has «Muffler» in their store title, you would think. Waited 2 hours for a job that realistically takes about 30 minutes but they obviously took their sweet time to rack up the hours of apparent work for this job hence charging me a premium.
It was my fault for not asking for a quote beforehand, but I’ve had this same work done on previous cars before and it has cost me around $ 150 in the past. After waiting for 2 hours in which they actually worked for about 30 minutes on my car total, the bill comes to $ 400. YIKES! Oh well, I’ll swallow it as long as the job is done right but the weld work was shoddy at best (especially for a «muffler» shop). As they lowered my car from the lift, I could immediately tell that they had moved the exhaust system around as my muffler tips were lower and were sticking out more than when I brought it in. Nice work.
They asked me if I wanted to keep the resonator that had been taken out and I said «yes, please put it in the carpeted trunk.» After waiting for about 15 minutes, a staff member comes and says «so we were able to fit the part in a box and put it behind the passenger seat.» Ok… I get home and pull my front passenger seat forward to take out the part/​box, and I see 3 deep scratches in the plastic plating on the back of the seat. Clearly they tried to fit the resonator behind the passenger seat and after scratching up the back of the seat, they THEN tried to put it in the box. Awesome. It’s especially nice that they didn’t bother to mention this to me while I was at the shop so it was a great surprise once I got home.
I’ve called the Monro Muffler Service Department and Claims Department at least 7 times now. Service department just forwards me to the Claims department every time and not a single person has picked up my calls from the Claims department so I am forced to leave messages that just go unanswered without any callback.
Talk about «Satisfaction Guaranteed» right? And to think that I actually went to Monro «Muffler» to have exhaust work done. What was I thinking?
Hopefully I can update this review once I ACTUALLY receive a call back about my claim.

This place gets 2 stars– only for the fact that they are open early on Saturday.
I dropped my car off because I absolutely murdered my brakes. I needed new brake pads, rotars, and calipers.
I told them «this is a lease– I’m giving it back in 4 months»
So what do they do? They put on PREMIUM CERAMIC BRAKE PADS.
They did not tell me thats what they would be putting on, I only found out after the fact.
When asked about it– their response was a version of «it is what it is»

Boston has been pummeled with snow for the last few weeks, and any kind, neighborly feelings around here have given way to extreme frustration and lots of screaming. The weather is bringing out the worst in everyone… except the guys at Monro. I went here desperate for air in my almost-​flat tires (the cold had really screwed with them) and despite an obviously busy shop, they helped me right away. Not only did they fix my tires AND an annoying dashboard issue that a previous service place had messed up, but they did it for free. FREE! My faith in humanity is restored. Seriously, this place has my business for life now.

Glenn provides the most efficient, professional, friendly oil change service in Somerville. He will make sure that your typically boring errand is a pleasant, convenient and affordable experience!

I’m very happy with the guys here. I am a young female and I recently had a few estimates done at other places for muffler work. Everyone else was quoting me an absorbent amount of money for the work to be done– when I brought my car here not only did they give me a very fair price, they gave me a $ 15 oil change certificate with free tire rotations. I’m definitely going to go back here. A+ service

I have lived in Union Sq for over 6 years and have driven by this place every day. I recently purchased a set of new tires by an online retailer and needed to have them installed. I was heading to a place in Cambridge and decided to pull into Monroe and ask if they could install. No BS, no crazy pricing… the answer was ABSOLUTELY. They installed my tires perfectly and disposed of the old. I think I have a new neighborhood garage. Thanks guys.

Excellent save. Went in for oil change and tire rotation. Had a leaky tire, they found a nail and offered to patch it. Called when it was ready an hour later, I went to pick it up, but the tire was nearly flat. Glen the owner/​manager apologized, said they had made a mistake and damaged my tire, gave me a brand new replacement tire for the price of a patch. Thank you, I’ll be back. And Zeus the Rott puppy is a charmer.

Professional service that you can trust! As a female driver, I get the feeling from some places try to get you to buy items not truly needed for your car. You won’t get that from Monro! They offer honest evaluations at a fair price. They’ve fixed a flat tire and a loosened bolt under my Jeep for me and not charged me a cent.
Their professional service is the reason I go there first. I only go to the dealer if Monro can’t fix it.

Sometimes being a petite female and bringing your car in for ANY service can mean major upsales on things you don’t truly need. Not at Monro! Not only was the entire staff friendly and inviting, but from the get go I knew I wasn’t going to be nickel and dined. I brought up a coupon on my phone which was instantly honored no questions asked. I was asked what kind of oil I preferred instead of the suggestions of $ 100 synthetic which has happened at other places. I watched the inspection of my car from the waiting room and was given pure honesty that everything looked great.
To top everything off the manager even gave me a discount due to the fact that he didn’t carry my cars wiper blades which were part of the promotion on the coupon I had.
I will return exclusively to Monro for oil changes and more in the future!

This place is great. The guys are friendly and competent. I take my car there for every oil change and tire work, and they never let me down. Once I took it in to have them install new windshield wipers in the wintertime. I bought the wipers somewhere else and they installed them for free. Glenn, the manager, is the man. Really nice guy and cuts through the BS.
If you can, I would recommend dropping your car off and coming back to pick it up. I live nearby so I can get away with that, but there are plenty of bus lines that go right past the shop.

I live right nearby, so this is my go-​to place for oil changes and the like. The manager, Glenn, is helpful and extremely friendly. It pays to get to know the people working on your car, and I trust Glenn and the mechanics. Highly recommended.

Long my go-​to for oil changes, Monro gets the job done and makes it a pretty pain-​free process. Offering good prices, quick service and online appointment scheduling– these guys make car maintenance easy peasy. I never feel upsold on other services and they’ve been consistenly helpful at fielding any questions I’ve had about my car.
Sidenote: At the time of this offer they had a check in deal for $ 21.99 for an Oil Change– not too shabby!

I just had some work done at Monro’s today — break pad replacement. They did a great job! It may not be the cheapest for this particular need but the customer service was absolutely great. Glenn, the new manager (he took over the shop in October or so), walks you through all that is suggested before they start working on the car, explaining what is definitely needed and how long you can wait for other things. If you have a longer service (like I did), they provide free shuttling to wherever you need to go.
Glenn is running a great shop here, making the customer experience a priority, and I appreciate the job well done!

So I have to update my review because of the really terrible news I just got. I took my car to its dealership because I thought there was something wonky about the way it was driving, and it needed its 90,000 mile service. I just didn’t think after my last couple Monro experiences that that was a good idea, and it turns out I was very, very right.
They had just fixed my alignment when I was there a few months ago, and my tires are only about 9 months old. However, things had been misaligned so badly the last time that my nearly new front tires are bald on the outside, meaning they’re unsafe and have to be replaced again. AGAIN. And the rear brakes that Monro said were just fine a couple months ago are in fact rusted and swollen and dangerous. I actually should not have been driving my car this way, and the fact that even the dealership staff members said that it was likely due to poor service was really distressing.
I have been going to Monro for about 2.5 years, and, as I said in my past review, loved it up until about the last year. However, what has happened in that last year is inexcusable, and I have to say I have never been this disappointed in a business.

Stopped by Monro this morning in need of an oil change, and I’m so glad I did. Glenn (the manager, I think) was friendly, professional, and really honest with me. I’ve found some car places try to take advantage of me with my car, thinking that a girl can’t know much about her car, but my experience here was the opposite.
With my oil change (which was cheaper than the place I was actually originally headed to), they checked my tire tread and brakes to give me an assessment on how long they had. Glenn was great and told me my some-​what worn tires were definitely in good enough shape to get me through the winter, and that the brakes looked good. (Good answer Glenn, I just replaced them 6 months ago!)
My car was ready when I came back for it, and Glenn was quick to ring me up and get me back on the road. Definitely recommend this place, and if you go, tell him that a Unilocaler sent you!
Also, the location here is great because it is close enough to Union that I could take a stroll around the farmer’s market while they worked. A+!

So after living in the area for a while, I’ve found a good mechanic/​garage and will not go back to this Monro unless I need some simple work done that I can’t do myself. I’m not sure how well trained they are, but after sending my car there a few times and having them explain things to me (I’ve done a fair amount of work on my own cars in the past) I wasn’t impressed with their knowledge. I think they’re good at rigging simple stuff together, but for hard jobs I wouldn’t take it to them.
I had a brake issue with my Ford Mustang and I had to take it to them like 5 times b/​c they would mess with it and after a couple weeks it would go back to smoking every time I stopped. Pretty sure they charged me a lot of money to make it even worse. Eventually I took it somewhere else and they figured it out and it got fixed.

F#$%ing Wednesdays.
Battery’s dead, I’m out of gas and parked in the middle of a residential wasteland. No AAA, no giant bald eagle that can lug the Jeep to a nearby mechanic, and yet… a passerby kindly offers a jump and I motor two miles to these guys, the same kids that offered quick and painless shoe repair when her soles were thin.
They let me know I’m due for an oil change and offer the service, a tire rotation, wheel balance and a new air filter for $ 25 based on an active coupon they were running. Thanks, Proactive Steve! Oh, and that battery, they gave it a test and confirmed my darkest, power cell dread — the beast was dead; long live the beast.
While they didn’t have any batteries to sell, they still cleaned the terminals and highly corroded clamps to make room for the new before pointing me to Autozone for the next step in my Frankenstein adventures. And they didn’t charge me a dime for the extra 30 minutes of diagnostic tests.
And did I mention I needed no appointment? Crazy convenient.
