New tires installed, Alternator and Starter replaced, Rotors and Pads replaced, Tie rods and numerous alignments done for the past 7 years. I’m wondering whom my baby wants to hang out with: me or the guys at Goodyear :(Great service and great prices. Highly recommend this place.

When driving up to MA for Thanksgiving we got a flat (on a tire that I had just bought a month prior no less). We almost had a flat on our spare as well, but thankfully we made it to our b&b in Somerville. I was incredibly frustrated and annoyed to say the least since nothing was open on Thanksgiving and we had to cancel our plans. We got up early on Black Friday and went to the Goodyear and at first I think they pegged us as «city folks» who were going to give them a hard time. However, when the realized we just wanted to get the tire fixed and were not going to give them any trouble they softened considerably. They told us where we could grab breakfast (the Neighborhood café up the street is amazing and had such great service) and having a new tire put on and a wheel alignment took about an hour. The guy who changed my tire even put my doughnut tire back in its place (even though my trunk it filled with camping stuff and I know that must have been a pain). All and all, Goodyear has earned my business and I probably won’t buy tires anywhere else.

I can’t say enough about these guys. Professional, honest, old school service mixed with the high tech. They give you the straight dope the steak not the sizzle, they get the job done quickly and efficiently… and they are friendly. I mean they go out of their way to get you parts – they explain things thoroughly, they often come to the Bloc 11 Café where I am grading papers to give me the info on the car. Believe me I have been through the ringer with dishonest mechanics, and I was at their mercy since I am no car aficionado. I bought a new Goodyear Assurance tire and installed at this shop for my Honda Civic (August 2015). Despite my reservation about the price I decided to go ahead and paid over 170 $ for one tire as I was moving out of the state next morning and wanted to be sure I had replaced my one damaged tire before the trip. Well, 5 miles into the trip, my TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) went off. I understand sometime it requires running of few miles after new tire installation. Long story short, the warning light is still on after two days. Checked all tire pressure and all within normal limit. Now the Honda service center who checked my car mentioned that the TPMS sensor and the valve is not mounted correctly. And this further will require a new «O» ring and/​or compression ring to seal the sensor properly. Which means I have shell out more dollars. I confirmed this with two other repair shops. Long story short, the machanics at this shop does not know a lick about tire lock removal and installing properly. To think that selling tire is their bread and butter. Stay away from this store, if you love your car.

After calling the head company, Goodyear decided that they would be able to replace my tire. Happy about this, but aggravated about the way it was handled given the fact that I bought TWO new tires from this company 20 days ago (one that already needed replacing) and was still given the run around. Happy that I now have my tire. *zooms safely away from this place and never returns*

After reading some of the reviews, I had a funny feeling that something about this wouldn’t work out as expected. I made an appointment online for 6pm the next day. After driving for about an hour to get there, no record of my appointment! I even showed them my email confirmation of the appointment — nope, nada. The one woman who was available to do work I was told was not capable of putting new tires on. Isn’t that what you specialize in?!? Instead, I was offered to leave the car and they could work on it tomorrow, at which time I could go pick it back up, or I could bring it back tomorrow and wait. No thanks. The guy even told me that the online system isn’t reliable — so why are you offering that feature?! IF you choose to go here, be sure to call and book your appointment!

I just moved my car across the country. I had my family mechanic check it out before I left. All I needed to do when I got to boston was get an oil change. I made an appointment with Goodyear and also asked them to take a look at my cigarette lighter as the fuse just went out. They said they would. 20 mins in they came out with $ 400 worth of things they could fix. I said no, those repairs had been made less than a month prior. He came back 10 mins later saying I was all finished and they didn’t have time to check my cigarette lighter. He said I had to wait 3 hours to get that done. I said «you had time to quote my perfectly fine breaks and sparks but don’t have 5 mins to look at my fuse» he said no. My dad taught me all about mechanics growing up. I know more about cars than your average girl. It disgusts me that I come to your place with a certain agenda and you try to sell me $ 400 of bs and won’t fix what is actually wrong with my car. I will never come back here. I hope everyone that reads this will also trust my opinion.

Thank you, Goodyear. As a Harvard Business Publishing client, I knew this company was committed to talent development at the corporate level, but all indications from their retail operations (at least at this location) support that their ethic for service and quality of work also cascades down to the front lines.
Okay, enough corporate jargon. I basically just mean this location is really great.
I live about a quarter mile from there, so when I have a crisis (read: my car gets a flat and I’m trapped in the middle of Calvin Street holding up traffic, or my battery dies twice and my insurance co has to jumpstart me), they are my go-​to shop. Being open on weekends for oil changes as well as services (i.e. the recent battery I had replaced when I brought my car to them on a Sunday at 2:45 pm, 75 minutes before they closed) makes them lifesavers.
There have been mildly irritating times when I’ve gotten a time estimate on a repair or made and appointment and then been told at drop off it would be 2 hours until my car was ready, but I can usually use reason to talk them into committing to something more reasonable.
Also, their marketing folks monitor their twitter feed and always follow up on my experience after I push an online check in.
Also, they are across the street from Union Square Donuts. Just sayin’.

Due to the questionable integrity of the employees here, I will not return if I can avoid it.
I went in to get a flat repaired. The guy at the front desk came out to look at it and told me that it was beyond repair and would need to be replaced. I asked him if he was certain that was the case, and he assured me the tire would need to be replaced. I then handed him my Goodyear road hazard policy that I had purchased with the tire, and all of a sudden, with the prospect of me getting the replacement tire for free, he thought there was a chance the tire could be repaired, but he would have to check with the mechanics. They did repair the tire, and it is working just fine a year later. Yet he was so convinced initially that the tire would have to be replaced…

I made an appointment online the day before and when I went in today, the guy (I think his name is peter) told me that there is no record of my appointment. Then I showed him the email confirmation insisting the appointment went through, and I need to get the service done today. Then he was like — did u see your name in the system huh (with the tone sound like I am making this thing up and I am stupid or sth), what kinda of customer service is that??? I didn’t back down and kept referring to my email — then the store manager, Ty, walked out, and he told him the situation, and Ty worked out everything for me — this is why I gave 2 stars. If this peter guy had apologized to me in the first, I would not be so pissed off.

Friendly and professional service. I purchased 5 tires that had to be special ordered due to sizing and they were happy to pricematch to tirerack-​they actually wen’t slightly cheaper because I bought a 5^th tire for my spare. Additionally they did not try to up-​sell me on anything and brought to my attention my brake pads which they showed me (they looked bad) so I had them replaced. I also had them perform an alignment-​that they gave me a discount on as well. The project took a little over 2 hours (tires, brakes, oil change, alignment) which is very reasonable in my opinion. Another plus is that they provide free rotations for the life of the tires-​that is a big savings. I highly recommend Goodyear in Somerville and will absolutely take my cars there in the future for tires. The only thing I can recommend is that they give the tires/​wheels a nice finish at the end of installation… but that’s about it.

I’d rather not bore you all with a saga about my experience, but let me just say that — at least if you are relatively young and wear dorky glasses (me) — do not come here unless you want to be treated like absolute crap and taken advantage of!!!

I moved here from the west coast and this place was right by my house. I came into the shop to get my wheels rotated and balanced. When I got there I asked of they could also check the bakes and replace the center caps as they were getting all rusty from the east coast winter.
First they told me that I would have to figure out what center caps I need and order them from a parts store because they don’t do that kind of thing. Then 4 hours later I get a call telling me that the cars all done. When I got down there must have been some mixup with the phone calls because they are unable to get my lug nuts off and have not done anything to the car. They insisted they lug nuts were stuck and they didn’t want to assume the risk. I took back the car and went to another tire shop near by. I actually watched the guy pop the lugs nuts off and I asked him if they were really tight. His answer «no more than they should be.»
This goodyear just wants to sell tires. They are not knowledgeable or if they are they just don’t care.

This experience started out fine and unfortunately ended up a real disappointment.
I brought my car in a few days ago to have a flat fixed. When i got home I realized that I the new tires were on my port side and the more worn tires were on the starboard side (defying my limited knowledge about tire placement dictating that tread depth should match laterally). Simple fix really.
The customer service manager, Kevin:
1) first tried to deny the facts (by tryinto to convince me that the tread depth was relatively similar between the tires with 40,000 miles on them and the ones I just put on) until i had him measure the tread depth
2) tried to deny it was a problem (until I got him to agree to standard practices regarding tire placement)
3) once presented the facts tried to talk me out of rotating them into the proper place (saying that if it were his car he’d just leave them because he «hates rotating tires»)
4) left me waiting long after the repair was complete without letting me know the car was ready (until I finally got up to see the car sitting in the lot)
This shop is fine as long as you don’t have to get them to make good on an error they made. I can’t say that it instills my confidence in their practice.

Reasonable pricepoints, clean and welcoming waiting area with free coffee, knowledgeable staff and quick service. It is hard to ask for more when getting new tires, really.

Brought the car in today because we had a screw in one tire and a slow leak in another one. The slow leak they were able to fix quickly and cheaply. The screw was on the side of the tire so there was no way to patch it unfortunately. Dick brought me out a paper with the exact brand and size tire I needed so I could start calling around for it (4WD car, needed the exact tire and fast so I could hit the road the next day). I found a place that could get me in the next morning, but while I was doing that Dick found a place closer that could do it that night. He used to work with the guy so he told them we were on the way, and they were waiting when we got there. Got the tire fixed that night for a reasonable price, all thanks to Dick and his connections. Any place that will call around so you get what you need at another place is a place I will go back to.

When it comes to surliness, tire shop employees are usually right up there with dive bar regulars, off-​duty cops and tow truck drivers. So imagine my surprise when I encounter not one, but two, employees here who were polite, attentive and helpful.
I give them credit for replacing the damaged tire and not trying to coax me into buying a pair or even a set of 4. I spent more than I was hoping to, but that probably has more to do with manufacturer/​distributor mark-​up than the store itself.
And they were even kind enough to put my spare back in the trunk, and put the crap in my trunk back on top of it.

For tires however I am very satisfied. Dick (who I believe is the manager) gave me a great price on two new tires. much better then I could find elsewhere. They didn’t try to sell me on anything else. just straightforward good service. I went in for two new tires, got the best price around, and didn’t have to deal with a litany of attempts to try and sell me other things. I’ll go back here for tires again for sure.
I had to wait a little longer then they advertised but no big deal. Go next door and have a coffee/​sandwich at Bloc 11 café. They have wifi too if you bring your laptop (although it costs $ 5/​hour or $ 8/​day).

Do not go here! I brought my car in for a routine oil change, and half a day later they racked up $ 700 worth of work that «had to be done». Two weeks later I was in again with related issues, racking up another $ 130. Two days after my second visit my car broke down on the highway because the mechanic did not fix the coolant leak, causing a gasket to blow and my engine in need of replacement.
When I met with the mechanics, though nice, one looked like he was still in high school and the others made excuses. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.

I typically hesitate to have my car serviced at a chain but when my car started making funky noises, I had no choice but to take my wheels to the Goodyear shop.
Two years later…
I continue to bring my car to Goodyear when I hear or feel that something isn’t right. The service techs are great. John and Richard always call and assess the situation before the start working. Also very honest. Example, brought my car to the shop. John called to tell me what the problem was (the carburetor) but told me he wouldn’t fix. The reason? The part was less than a year old and was under warranty. he told me to bring it back my previous mechanic as they should replace it for free — seriously not many companies would do or say that.
