Best north Indian-Pakistani food in town. I’ve tried the chicken kabob, biryani, mutton kadai, and the naan. Each item is cheap, fresh, and very very tasty. The owners are very cordial also. This is more like a take-out place, though there are places to sit.

Awesome place for Chicken Tikka and Kebabs! We tried their mutton Curry and it was Karari(full of spices and right level of hot). Hands down the best Desi food I have had in Boston area. Their kitchen is in a grocery store and only have one table, so I would recommend just ordering to go.

We asked that the owner(?) put together a dinner for the 4 of us — I have no idea what we ate, only that it was just too good. Crazy good. Cheap good. I ate way too much! But note that the sign is from the previous tenant, S&S Market. There are only two tables, so be prepared to share a table or do takeout.

These are the best kabobs and chicken tikka I have eaten in Boston. Tasty Pakistani grill items with a unique taste. Chicken Tikka is simply awesome. It is mainly good for takeout, but if you can grab a seat and enjoy the items warm, it s worth it.

5 stars for the chicken kebabs. End of story. No further words necessary. Does not matter how hole in the wall it looks or the seating nothing matters. All that matters is the amazing recipe and flavor in these kebabs GOTHEREANDEATTHAT!

Great authentic pakistani dhaba(no frills take away joint) limited seating. Not everything on menu is available, you need to call and inquire. Appetizers are made fresh ans entrees are made the same day and they microwave to serve you hot. Great taste!

Man O Man, Man O Salwa is good! My friend and I popped our heads in the liquor store it hides in on a Sunday night. We ordered chicken biryani, chicken kabab, butter naan, and chicken tikka… When the chicken biryani, kababs, and naan came out, the salesman stopped and asked if we still wanted the chicken tikka. NOPE, the portions are humongous. I think enough to feed 2 very hungry people. Man O Salwa is so good and affordable, that I thought I take time out of my lunch time to praise the food. It’s very flavorful and chicken has been done in ways I have never tasted chicken before. YUMMM. I will be back to get the chicken tikka.

It will not be easy for you to find a more authentic experience. So Man-O-Salwa is not fancy and it is not trying to be. It is a small, seemingly family-run operation inside of a convenience store. You would not find this place randomly unless you knew what you were looking, and yet… you know it’s good because it is packed with local South Asian families and customers on late weekday evenings. I recommend getting takeout. Onto the food. I have not been to Pakistan, but after one bite you will be able to tell that they haven’t held back on the spice level nor tamed the food down for the unfamiliar palette. The food is SPICY, and I don’t mean necessarily in the hot sense, but in the spice-y sense. It’s packed with cumin and other spices. Make sure your stomach can handle it. You have been warned… The biryani was flavorful and with very nicely cooked rice. The menu recommends that dishes are meant to be shared by two, and boy they mean it. Portions are large, which makes their already cheap prices even better value. The kebabs are all delicious. The staff is also super nice and friendly and I have even been offered free samples. Delicious, cheap, authentic takeout. Just make sure to be ready for some heavy spices.

ok so I originally gave this place 3 stars because EVENTHOUGH it’s a hole in the wall, the food was still fresh and amazing. Now, as other reviewers have mentioned, this place is only accessible by car. There is no public transportation that goes here. There is also no parking, except for the side street for about 2 cars. Anyway, my friends and I made all the effort of coming here(not on a tuesday) ANDTHEYWERERANDOMLYCLOSED. This place is just not professional at all.

My favorite place for South Asian food! I am not South Asian, but I love food from the region. If you use public transportation, it can be hard to get here, but I think of being lured out there despite the difficult commute because the food is so delicious and tasty. Man– O– Salwa has exactly what I love in an eating experience: delicious memorable food, generous portions, and affordable. Best Butter Chicken, Tikka Chicken, and Biryani I have ever tasted. The portions for all the dishes are generous and good for sharing. The Tikka Chicken is juicy. I rarely ever get to have chicken cooked so well anywhere and this includes other ways of seasoning/cooking chicken– not just tikka. The Biryani is not mushy. Perfect separation of the grains and proportional mixture of the ingredients. I feel like my descriptions don’t do the experience justice as everything is so good and I don’t know how to articulate how much I love this place and the food.

Fantastic food, especially the chole, the chicken tikka, and the haleem. Call ahead to cut down on waiting time. It’s well worth the wait in any case.

One of the beat kebabs I have tasted in Boston. I am only giving it 4 stars because the place is a little run down and all the gravies are too oily but the kebabs deserve 10 stars and that’s where this place shines.

A hidden gem totally! I went in on sunday with my husband for lunch. We ordered nihari, naan and chicken kebab. All were amazing. The only complaint i have is the small eating place, and that it is more of a take away joint than an eat in place. The interiors are not inviting at all. They should manage it more professionally.

Food: 4.5÷5.0 Service: 1.0÷5.0 Value: 5.0÷5.0 Décor: 1.0÷5.0 Overall: 4.5÷5.0 Man-O-Salwa. Mano-My-Salwa. By far the most legit Pakistani/South Asian food I’ve had in Boston. Thankfully I’m more than two miles away or I’d be coming here thrice a week. Near universal approval rate among those I’ve introduced to this wonderland, South Asian or not(as long as they’re a fan of desi food). MoS is theoretically a grocery store with a food counter, but really, it’s just a restaurant disguised as a store. It’s difficult for newbies to find, so just look for the door on the corner. This is also an absolute hole-in-the-wall. It’s not all that clean and tidy, you order at and pick up your food from the counter(they’ll call you), and if you’re not a stinky butt you’ll help out and bring your dishes back when you’re done(not everyone does). The owners are nice but there’s not much service. There are two regular-ish tables and an ice chest to keep your [plastic] plates, [plastic] fork and knives, etc. on while you eat, and you may get dirty looks from people waiting if you’re just sitting around the table chatting post-gorging. The«menu» is sparse with maybe 10 – 15 meat dishes based on similar chicken and mutton/lamb and 5-ish veggies, rice/biryani, and some deserts. It’s all about the basics here — butter chicken, karahi, tikka, etc. The meats are generally done very well while the veggies are okay. If desi food means veggie dishes for you, you may not love this place as much as I do. On each day, only about half of the items will actually be available, and of that a lot of stuff runs out as you get into the evening. The one must try is the chicken tikka(spicy red chunks of heaven/hell/whatever). I’d argue for the butter chicken(though super creamy and less traditional, depends on what you’re used to) and the karahis if they have, especially the mutton. When you get naan, make sure it’s with butter. The biryanis I’ve found more hit or miss — sometimes amazing and sometimes closer to glorified rice. The chicken kebabs are popular but I think they’re highly diner-dependent. The prices are flat out cheap for the quality and quantity at ~$ 10 per dish and one dish per person w/rice or naan usually being plenty of food for guys(unless starving). When I have desi food anywhere else in Boston, I usually end up wondering«why am I doing this to myself». This place is just so good. Go hungry and go often.

Best kabob I’ve had in town. Chicken tikka is most and packed with flavor. If you’re reading this you should already be calling in am order.

Great place to get chicken kebabs as well as chicken tikka. They have a weird schedule on Fridays so call before you drive over there. Parking is limited so travel in groups if possible.

Spoiler alert: don’t look for the restaurant name on the storefront. Go inside. Most of the«store» is a largely takeout, no frills, dark, maybe dingy(I don’t mind so much having lived in NYC with a lot of immigrant shops being more food-forward than ambiance-centric /considering overall aesthetic) Pakistani restaurant with a small number of menu items somewhat untranslated — that said, there’s a guy willing to help you out. Various kebabs, goat, dishes similar to Indian food, huge skewers. Entrees are advertised as feeding two for small prices(10 – 15 each) I get the feeling that they rolled out my naan on the spot right after I ordered it. The garlic naan had a wonderful aroma — spring onions in the mix? — and a different consistency than the Indian variety. I also ordered the goat(mutton) karahi, which albeit very fatty(thick layer of oil), was very tasty — curried tomato-based sauce. That said, no veggies were involved. The dish was big enough for ~2−3 full servings, and well worth its value. The chicken kebab was a ground meat/vegetable skewer, nicely seasoned, and reheated upon order. I don’t feel like I was blown away by the kebabs, but for the price point(under $ 2), I have no complaints. Overall, not bad. An extra star for the quality per price. Given my predilections towards more veggie-forward dishes, this probably won’t signal a frequent return for me, but it’s an interesting option. Curious about the tikka and curry — next time!

They have the best Pakistani food that I have tried since coming to Boston. Their prices are reasonable, they don’t cash in on the fact that they are one of the few Pakistani style restaurant in area. Yes, they don’t provide with good place to eat, so take out would be a better option than dine in. I hope they also start providing delivery soon. Anyways, man o salwa is best place for students around the area.
