I’m lucky that Jerry’s is my neighborhood liquor store. It’s a somewhat small neighborhood liquor store, but with a very well curated selection. Always has a great selection of craft beer and liquor, and a great selection of wine. Marco is also great with recommendations and can get things on request if he doesn’t have your favorites.

When I moved to the neighborhood, I was totally bemused by the epic gated entrance to a liquor store. Bemusement continued when I got inside and was hit with a lingering scent of cigar smoke and learned that no one there is named Jerry. Whimsy!
The store is dog friendly, perfect for the Riverdog patrons who need a nip for the road. Marco and his crew keep a tidy, well-​stocked store of quality craft beers, fancy libations, and cheap booze. Whatever you’re looking for, Jerry’s likely stocks it or can get it from you. Marco is knowledgeable about his inventory, and he’s down to shoot the breeze with you about it. We’re craft beer geeks, and we can always count on Jerry’s to have something new in store for us to try out. Prices are reasonable (and I’ve even heard folks get talked out of things that cost more than the taste is worth).
Definitely a big fan and will continue to shop here on the regular.

I absolutely love living in Somerville! There are some really great locally owned coffee shops, businesses, and places to eat. One of my favorite parts is the variety of liquor stores nearby. I can comfortably walk to five liquor stores, by Jerry’s is by far my favorite!
Inside this super cute building is a neat and organized collection of many different beer and wine (much better, in my opinion, than Woody’s and the place by M-​Basket). Additionally, and sometimes more importantly, the folk who work there (usually a man) is very friendly.
I wish I had more to write, but sometimes short, sweet, and to the point works wonders. Buy your beverages here!

Nestled back slightly from Somerville Ave in the center of Union Square, Ivy hangs off the gates that swing open to the beckoning entrance of this neighborhood packie– giving the feel of a respectable purveyor of goods and making me feel better about my midday liquor shopping as opposed to feeling like a sketchball with a vino problem.
Ivy aside, Jerry’s is pretty much your average liquor store with above average offerings in a few specific areas. You can get beer, wine, & liquor plus mixers and some other useful items (Olives, Luxardo cherries, Taza chocolate, etc.)
Two key areas that set this place apart are:
1) An interesting selection of beers beyond your regular Coor/​Miller/​BlahBlahBeers. They had some imports and microbrews including but not limited to a huge Harpoon selection, Rogue, Allagash, Stella, Stone and Avery– plus they have a section for singles which makes me want to come back and stock up for experimenting.
2) Portuguese wine like woah. Overall their selection of wine isn’t ground breaking (if you’re looking for a bigger selection & more regional diversity– head over to Liquor World in Porter) but they have a number of well-​priced interesting Portuguese wines. They have a bunch of vinho verde selections (perfect summer white) and a handful of tintos as well.
The guy behind the counter has always been friendly & quick with helpful suggestions. Plus, being just about the only liquor store in Union almost guarantees that Jerry’s has the leverage to hike prices, and yet they haven’t– making this a great pick for the area.

why this place is full of win:
milwaukee beer options that aren’t miller, pabst, or leinies. not one, but two variety options from the lakefront brewery! clearly, this vendor is serious business.

This place is cute. They have a reasonable variety of liquor, beer, and wine. And the prices are ok considering they don’t have much competition nearby.
The person working there was quite friendly, and the place is clean.

Small place but carefully picked selection. Friendly staff and they usually have one or two beers you can’t get anywhere else in town. Conveniently located on my way home from the Farmer’s market.
I wouldn’t consider it my first place to go for party supplies, But they are friendly and and the stock will have something for you.

This place is not Costco, it’s small but well stocked for it’s size. I came here because I needed something to spike my homemade lemonade for a potluck. I explained what I needed and the guy behind the counter helped me pick a vodka with the right color and proof. The drunk lemonade was hit. Jerry’s will be my go to liquor store when I need a bottle not a case.

Read the Unilocal reviews, walked down the street, and the guy talked to me for about 20 minutes about which wines would be best.
Not the biggest selection, but certainly a good variety considering.

You are always greeted with a smile. I just love going in here.
Of course its not like going to Kappy’s — where they have rows and rows of liquor. But this place always has a good selection of beer and wine — and I always find what I need and at a good price. And Marco is always willing to make suggestions. It fits in with the neighborhood perfectly. This place is a gem.

I haven’t bought a bottle of wine here that I didn’t like. Let’s hope it stays that way! Small, but good selection of beer, wine, and spirits. Reasonable pricing and great service.

I am always impressed with this place, always. I can come in asking for anything from fruity to sophisticated and they are able to get me a wine that does the trick. This is all the more impressive because it’s not a large wine selection, just diverse and easy to please.
I am a scotch SNOB, I won’t touch a single malt under 12 years even casually and I do have my preference, this place wasn’t carrying it and all it took was bringing in my empty bottle and voila, they have it now.
Very good customer service, they take all sorts of plastic and cash, and the conversation and knowledge you can learn is awesome. Definitely the best place in Union Square to get your booze.

Jerry’s is a great liquor store. They have an adequate selection of liquors, beer, and wine, given that the store is pretty small. I think the only complaint — I’d like to see more selection in 12 packs. The prices are great and I use them as a litmus test to see if another store is too expensive. They’re also generally friendly too. I guess one more thing is that they’re not open till 11pm M-​Th or on Sundays, which is inconvenient sometimes.

Jerry’s is a great little packie in Union Square. They carry a nice selection of New England micro brews along with the standard Budweiser/​Miller lite/​Coors et al. But I hesitate to call that swill beer ;) They also have a decent selection of wines (mostly Portuguese). If you aren’t sure of a good wine for your needs, do not hesitate to ask. They are always such a big help; when I needed help finding a good wine to add to my pot roast, they pointed me to one & the dish came out fantastic. Thanks guys!!!
My only complaint is that they do not carry PBR: P

Love these guys. Particularly fine selection of portugese wine — all the wine they recommend is phenomenal (if they like it) & VERY reasonable. These guys are always helpful & I go back regularly to buy their wine by the case (by the way, $ 5 a bottle for stuff we love). Keep up the great work!

Jerry’s has a great beer selection that ranges from your basics to Lambics to every harpoon variety (raspberry UFO), several types of magic hat, lots of small breweries and a few basic foreign beers (stella, becks). Beer prices are average, which is great considering it’s the only packie in Union sq.
The wine selection is decent, especially the portuguese wines, where you can get a well rated vinho verde for $ 7. Not a wide selection of french or italians, mostly portuguese, american and australian.

Whoever’s stocking the beer reads Beer Advocate. They’ve pumped up their selection of belgian & german imports, and lots of other great stuff, like Unibroue, Allagash, Rogue. For a small store, their selection is really great. I’m so happy this place is my local.
