Ball Square Café serves yummy breakfast and lunch treats 7 days a week from 6:30am til 3:00pm, 364 days a year.

Here at the Café we serve both Savory and Sweet dishes consisting of Waffles, Omelets, French Toast, Pancake, Eggs Benedict, Fresh Fruit Bowls, Breakfast Sandwiches, Cheeseburgers, Salads and Lunch Plates. We are Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten friendly and we can accomodate all of your dietary needs. All of our food is made using the finest ingredients to make the best tasting dishes possible.

We offer a warm, rustic, classy environment that will make you feel right at home. Our restaurant has Wi-​Fi for diners that need to stay connected too.

From the back of the house to the front of the house, we strive for perfection by putting out the highest quality foods and friendly service, come enjoy the great dining experience today.

History

Established in 2007.

Ball Square Café was a dream. It began with a unique opportunity to build a business in a space available for lease in Somerville, MA. This chance was recognized by Mike Moccia, a former employee of his family business, Victor’s Deli. After Moccia teamed up with Omar Djebbouri, a longtime friend and talented chef from the original Sound Bites, that dream would soon become a reality.

It took a lot of drive and passion, and several months of renovations, but on September 16^th, 2007, Ball Square Café was ready to open its doors with a soft opening. The festivities included all items complimentary to an assembly of friends and family. And on the following day, September 17^th, 2007, The Café had its Grand Opening.

Ball Square Café continues to thrive amidst the competition, thanks to the dedication of Mike Moccia, Omar Djebbouri and the rest of the Ball Square Café team!

Meet the Business Owner

Mike and Omar D.

Business Owner

Mike was born in Somerville, Massachusetts and grew up in Medford, Massachusetts. He graduated from Medford High School in 1991. Mike worked for his family business, Victor’s Deli, for over 20 years, where he did various jobs including catering and cooking.

Omar was born in Oran, Algeria. He attended the Bab El Zouir University of Algeria. Omar lived and worked in France for over eight years before coming to America in July of 1991. He started working as the head chef of Sound Bites, where he worked for over 15 years, before opening the Ball Square Café. Omar now lives in Somerville with his family. He became a citizen of the U.S. in November 2008.

Mike brought his business sense, while Omar brought his love of cooking to join forces to open the Ball Square Café.
