The Georgian Inn Of Somerset

We ate there a few weeks ago and left hungry. Food was lousy and portions were small. We were the only people in the bar area and although the one employee that was there was nice, we would never go back. Additionally, the hallways were cold but the room was so hot, we had to. leave the door open to. get some cool are… no privacy. There directions were not clear as if there was anyone to call for problems, but clearly we were the only ones there. I tried to get a hold of someone in charge and was told someone would call me during the week. After missed calls, the manager was unwilling to make things right and basically gave a lawyer response as to «we had things in writing.». Clearly, this place is careless and unwilling to make things right for guests that had a not so nice experience. I would NEVER recommend this place.

Went here for lunch while transiting through the area. Had high hopes based on reviews I had received from friends. My wife and I love historic inns and restaurants and wanted to check this place out. However, when approaching the property we had to transit a maze of strip mall-​like buildings and parking lots, which I’m guessing at one point were part of the original property, but unfortunately are now surrounding the property entirely and at close proximity… not the ideal environment for a historic inn. Furthermore, the food was not on par with the prices. Both my dish and my wife’s were too sweet and lacked anything you would expect from a high-​end dining establishment. The interior decorations were also nothing to write home about, which is unfortunate because the building itself has actually been preserved rather well. However, the rugs, furniture, and other décor do not fit with the character of the house at all. Overall, wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t go back.

What a pleasant surprise at an otherwise average rest area next to the Penn Turnpike! The service was outstanding and the food was equal to what you would find at a top shelf Manhattan eatery — well done!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Georgian inn. The lizzy Z room was extremely comfortable and very pleasant with really nice views from each window. The hotel is also tastfully decorated with turn of the century antiques which adds to the charm.
I see some folks complain about needing a window ac unit which I’m puzzled by. We were extremely comfortable and if anything we would say it was maybe slightly chilly.
The breakfast was awesome and the concierge room was super nice with single brew coffee available all day.
Next time we’ll do dinner too.
I would not consider staying at one of the hotels in the area as long as the Georgian is open.

Service was GREAT. Staff was most accommodating (we moved from the terrace to indoors when the sun came out too strongly).
The portions are so reasonable! They are fully adequate but you do not leave overstuffed, which is perfect when you are stopping here on a long road trip.
The carpets and paint are starting to show their age, but the whole experience of being in a well-​loved historic home with a welcoming staff and delicious food makes this place a «worth the detour» destination.
I am amazed that anyone has been able to offer this kind of hospitality in the midst of (well, actually on a lovely high hill above) what is essentially a big truck stop.
Hope to have another occasion to go there!

Traveling and made lucky selection of choices of dining. Excellent filet and great service with beautiful view off the patio.

Charming! I attended a friend’s baby shower at The Georgian Inn last Sunday. A sunroom was set aside for the party and was a great place for 20 – 30 people to have a private space to spend time together. Service was good, and the food was very tasty, even tastier than I had expected! My only recommendation would be for the inn to keep a window or two open while holding events here in the summer. The room became quite warm but quickly cooled down as soon as someone opened a door leading to the outside. Overall, I had a great time though!

In February we scheduled an event at the Inn for over 50 people in early June. The owner was so difficult to work with that we cancelled the event less than 5 days before the event.

I found this place pretentious. It was also freezing cold. It was also completely empty, not a customer at all, even after they stressed to me on the phone that we needed reservations. We got a dirty look from the hostess for closing a window in the solarium, which is where we were seated. Food tasted like warmed-​over frozen entrees, portions were tiny, and food was overpriced. What is with the creepy mannequins on the stairway landing?

Excellent experience, from the service to the owners to the food. All were 5 star worthy. The staff were polite, knowledgeable and concerned that the dining experience was top notch. And the food ranks with some of the best I’ve had, ever! Great owners too, frequently checking to make sure we were having a food experience. Love this place!

We came here for a friends wedding weekend. The whole wedding party and guessed stayed here. The staff was friendly, the owner was very friendly and ran the bar after the wedding. They had different size rooms and was a very mountain cozy feeling. The bathrooms were nice, the tubs fit the atmosphere. The tub rocked when you showered, but it was not unbearable. Overall a nice bread and breakfast.

On the way back from the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, five of us had a late lunch here on Monday. This bed and breakfast, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has a lovely setting on top of a hill. Nice patio for relaxing, and gorgeous bar for imbibing. No one else was around when we were there, so we were seated at the table for 6 just through the entry way. An impressive chandelier hovered over the table.
I wasn’t that hungry, so I ordered a salad and bowl of onion soup, but others ordered a hamburger, shrimp cocktail, potato leek soup, salads, and squash raviolis. We all had drinks, and my preference was a Bloody Mary. I don’t like the mixes, so the waitress whipped up one with tomato juice and horseradish. It was just ok. I was missing the celery stalk.
Everything except for the hamburger was ok. P’s burger was supposed to be medium rare, and it turned out to be very well done instead and tasted awful, so he sent it back. The waitress looked a little ticked and made some ridiculous comment like, «So do you want me to get you another? It will take 8 minutes.» We told her that 8 min for a medium rare seemed excessive, and she basically told us she knew what she was doing. 10 min later, the burger came out very well done again and inedible. P said he couldn’t even eat it, and so she took it off the bill.
The waitress is fairly new and was sweet until the hamburger incident, and the chef doesn’t have a clue about cooking burgers, but other than that, our experience was decent. Am never in that area, but I wouldn’t return even if I were.

I stayed for 2 nights at the Inn at Georgian Place. I found the Inn to be very nice, the bar is beautiful as are the dining areas. I stayed in a room that was comfortable, although I had no a/​c or heating controls for my room specifically. Wifi was a problem in my room. I tried laying down in my bed and using my iPad and couldn’t get a signal. I walked in the hallway and I had «bars». That was a bit disappointing.
In the restaurant, the wine list is nice. I had the Cote du Rhone– quite good. I was a bit surprised to see the prices for wine of mediocre quality (excluding my CdR), upwards of $ 11 per glass.
My steak, petit filet was very good. Potatos (like an au gratin) were good too. Didn’t love the veggies… too much butter– couldn’t taste anything but butter.
Breakfast was good although I didn’t have an opportunity to order what I wanted… and again too much butter in the eggs.
I would gladly stay here again as the people– Michelle, Sheila, and Ashley were all very nice and accommodating.

Try the ravioli. We just stopped by when we got off the interstate. it was an upscale dinner as advertised.

Just ate at the Inn at Georgian Place for my birthday. We have not been here since it has been under new management. We were both very impressed with our meals. I had potato fennel soup, and roast chicken with brie and cherries. We shared the duck confit ravioli for an appetizer and a great crème brûlée for dessert. We’ve always like the bar at the Inn for meeting friends. It is very warm and inviting, and quiet so you can talk. I recommend whether you are visiting or live here. We recently moved back to the area and the Inn will be on our rotation when we want a great meal.

Neat place to stay. Under new owners who are doing a good job of restoring this charming landmark. The rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast is good although not outstanding. Dinners are very good, particularly for the location. Good place to stay if you’re visiting Falling Water. Right of turnpike so easy access. Because of an early reservation at Falling Water, they opened breakfast early for us. Very nice people anxious to serve. While the area around the Inn is a bit tacky, the Inn itself sits on top of a hill and is very impressive. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

I had a reception there, and the food was outstanding. The Inn itself is a 1915 coal baron’s mansion. We also stayed three nights and had a wonderful time. The prices might be a bit high for the locals, but they have a lot of repeat customers from out of town. Give it a try, the restaurant and the Inn.
