Came here for a birthday weekend! Was so excited and welcomed by the feel of Spain! Authentic tapas and wine! Delicious olives! Yum!

Positives: Very friendly server — might be the owner Empty restaurant — we were the only ones there for Saturday dinner Free Wi-Fi Free Olives were really tasty Negatives: Really limited menu — No patatas bravas, croquetas, empanadas, gambas al ajillo(or any warm shrimp item). I don’t expect everyone to have this item, but also no bacon wrapped dates :( Of the limited menu, they were also out of certain items — Tortilla(sold out), Squid(not in season), Estrella beer(sold out) Paella — seafood was out, so they recommended chicken and broad beans. Don’t get this! I will expand on this later. Food: Overall, everything tasted ok but portions were really small. The paella was a disaster. Undercooked rice, overcooked chicken, and a tiny portion to boot. Sangria was really odd. Served in a wine glass with no fruit and was slightly bubbly. The silver lining? I think if you came here for happy hour, ordered a few cured meat items, tapas, and some wine, you’d be pretty happy. If you’re expecting a nice dinner to share a lot of hot food with your family, this is not the place to go.

Decent authentic Spanish food. The menu is a little limited but the food was good. We had great service and I really enjoyed the sangria. As I said the food was good but the portions were small and definitely expensive for the amount of food you get! We had little chorizo sausages and a shrimp tapas(10 shrimp which were good sized).and one main course, which was a small plate of white beans. one glass of sangria and 2 ice teas(Only place in years I have been that charged me for an extra refill of tea!)…total with tip…75 $.and we left hungry. .would have ordered more tapas, but the bill would have easily went over the 100 $ mark.

Paella was good. Very authentic! It was a smaller portion than expected. Nice place tucked away. Sangria was delish. The service was great and the recommendations were perfect. Menu is limited but worth a try. I would return when I visit Solvang again.

Unfortunately this restaurant did not meet my expectations. The mushrooms were not fresh and my tortilla espanola sandwich was soulless. The sandwiches at the University of Cantabria in Spain were better than this. Sorry I can’t recommend this place. The one good thing: the sangria.

This is a great place to grab some quick tapas or to sit down for a meal. The food is about as authentic as it gets. They get a lot of their ingredients shipped directly from Spain and everything is very reasonably priced. Bodega de Espana is really a hidden gem in a tucked away courtyard in Solvang. I wish I lived closer so that I could eat there all the time!

Dont come here if you expect quick service. The food is bland. The staff is personable. The food is just not worth the price.

Stopped in for a late lunch. The tapas was good, although a bit on the expensive side. I suppose that’s to be expected for a Spanish restaurant in Solvang. The woman waiting on us was very friendly. I would definitely go back.

Came here for tapas and it did not disappoint. Our server was very helpful, informative, and welcoming. The prices are steep, but getting that authentic Spanish tapas taste is worth it. If it’s cheap seafood you want then head down to Santa Barbara. Recommendations: Mojama, Pan Tumaca, Olives

Not so good… servers were nice enough but my paella came out in five minutes and when I remarked on the speed, they told me it was reheated because it would take too long to make fresh! Gross! Tasted reheated too… reheated seafood, barf. And it was extremely expensive. Will not return.

Tortilla, paella and sangria were expensive and unimpressive. Should label as $$$ minimally. Staff was friendly.

The most lovely couple from Andalucia welcome you to this hidden jewel in downtown Solvang. A modestly decorated room where you can pull up a chair at a table or at the bar and enjoy some of the best traditional«bare bones» tapas and entrees that Spain has to offer. No frills here, the food speaks for itself! The last thing I ever expected to see prepared fresh in this area was Squid braised in it’s own ink sauce(Chipirones en su salsa). It truly lives up to the magical, briny, soulful flavor one can find on the other side of the Atlantic. I will support this place as long as I am here. I highly suggest you do the same.

10 stars! We love this place! Owners Juan and Maria prepare authentic Spanish food with ingredients coming from Spain. They treated us like old friends and provided excellent service. The food was fresh and delicious. The paella and sangria(made in-house) were excellent! Can’t wait to go back next time we’re in town.

Disappointed!!! Paella is $ 23 and it’s not even half the size of what we get in Los Angeles! Service is OK.(Ladies, the waiter is good looking). :-). They didn’t bring our waters until we asked again! The sandwiches are very tasty! Would I come here again? Only for the sandwiches… And the waiter! ;-)

Actually 1.5 Paella was very disappointing. In sf, I can get a bowl if paella served for 4, loaded with seafood, for $ 25. They give you a few shrimps, and mussels. While dish serves for, at most, 2. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Everything else… Unless you plan on paying 8 – 12 $ for dried cured meats, lots of bread(like a few slab of meats between two big slices of bread), I wouldn’t come.

Can you say amazing!!! Not only is this couple from Valencia they previously owned a restaurant in Spain and get all their good imported from the motherland. As someone who has traveled a few times to Spain and lived abroad for a while I know authentic Spanish food when I taste it. This was amazing! :) Highly recommend it!

Perfect. The service is outstanding. They make everything fresh every day. It’s like going back to Spain. Try the gazpacho. And a tinto de verano

I found this place on Unilocal and I will admit since there were only 8 reviews I was a little reluctant to try it. Bodega de Espana has this little café feel, there are tables inside and outside. Here is a little piece of advice, sit inside and you can drink the delicious sangria(you will thank me later). I am so glad that we stopped by here, the food is delicious and authentic. I would start with the sangria(1 liter good for two people) and the jamón con queso(imported ham and cheese) which comes with bread. They are both to die for, order the seafood paella(share it), also order the tapas chorizo al infierno and the camaron con tres salsas(the salsa is not hot). This is more than enough for two people but my wife and I have not to Solvang in over 10 years so why not. Pricing is more than what one would expect but everything in Solvang costs just a little bit more(just putting that out there). You will enjoy the food, it was amazing, come with friends and enjoy. I will definitely come back here next year.

My wife and I stumbled upon Bodega de Espana while looking for a place to get a glass of wine and some apps. The Tapas were great and the wine was wonderful. The owners were great, they made us feel like we had sat down to a family dinner.
