Dr. Melanie Palm, board-​certified dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon, is the founder & medical director of Art of Skin MD, where she offers a full-​spectrum of both medical and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Palm graduated with high distinction from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and received her MBA at the Booth Graduate School of Business. She is the nation’s youngest doctor to become a physician trainer for Sculptra Aesthetic. This elite group of physicians only instructs dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and oculoplastic surgeons due to the rigorous nature of the training program. Dr. Palm lectures nationally and internationally on laser and filler technology. She is also an accomplished writer, publishing over 20 research articles in peer-​reviewed literature. Her work has been awarded by the Young Investigator’s Writing Competition from the journal Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

I just wish I was able to give Dr. Palm six stars. The best! As someone blessed with what some may refer to as «blah» skin, I’ve visited more derms than I can possibly keep track of. If I had results at all, they would be fleeting and I would be left scratching my head on what to do next. Though I wasn’t expecting to be disappointed, by any means, Dr. Palm exceeded my expectations. My first appointment was very thorough and I felt as though the doctor really listened and understood my concerns. I left feeling happy and confident that I was in excellent care. Oh and even better, I look great! Thank you Dr. Palm… see you in 2016!

Called to make an appointment and dealt with very rude front desk staff which had a condescending tone. I’ve seen lots of dermatologists in Del Mar and was surprised by the customer service at this one. Additionally they were going to pre-​charge my insurance for an appointment I was making in January! Decided to find another dermatologist with class

Dr. Palm is an artist! I had some Botox and wanted just a little filler in my lips. I had been nervous about doing my lips because I didn’t want to look like a duck, or have everyone notice. They turned out perfect! And Dr. Palm uses everything she can including numbing cream and navacaine which made it totally painless! Far from what I have heard others talk about when getting any lip fillers. Dr. Palm also recommended Sculptra – which I really knew nothing about. It actually builds collagen and naturally fills in those minor lines and lifts everything just a bit. Again, so subtle and beautiful! I will recommend Dr. Palm to all my friends who are thinking of fillers or Botox. She’s the best of the best!

I LOVE this Doctor!!! In one visit she prescribed something that helped my skin start to heal in one-​two days. She & her staff are personable caring & efficient
I went to Melanie Palm AFTER suffering for 3 miserable weeks from an infection I acquired by a really bad physical therapist (after completely healed biking injury, I was well on my way to recovery)… until Melissa Jacka at Pacific Physical Therapy got her hands on me, left kinesiology tape on too long, twice which caused a major infection & yet she continued to run over open sores with gel & most likely unsanitary equipment, as much of the tables in there are dirty… I walked out… The infection grew, was beginning to eat away, blister & peel off 6″ of my skin… causing me to make 2 trips to the ER fearing they gave me MRSA!
Both the doctor who referred me to the Dr (who apparently owns or is part of this PT dept both stated I had no infection, refused to do a blood test… yet 2 other (non related, out of their network DR’s said «it was an infection, in fact one Dr said it was 2 infections…» I was prescribed the mother load of antibiotics along with an IV drip in the hospital… KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE FOLKS, when they refer you, they most likely will deny any wrong doing. In any event if one of them would have taken the time to do a culture or a blood test, we could have avoided all of this… THis is supposed be a good review about Dr Palm, so I’ll stop here because she was awesome as was Dr Lowell who treated me at Scripp ER for infection.

So I’m the guy who avoids the Dr like the plague. Well, it seemed as though my skin was being attacked by the plague so after a quick Unilocal search I found Dr Palm. Here are the standout things about Art of Skin:
1.) No insurance necessary. I have it but instead of waiting for 3 months to get into my PCP to then have to get referred to a dermatologist… I got in SAME DAY with Dr Palm and the cash price was well worth it!
2.) Dr Palm is the nicest most knowledgable Dr ever. I asked if she would be my PCP and she, unfortunately, declined…
3.) They aren’t about making money they’re about helping their clients. I got sent away with samples and an affordable prescription and the nurse even called the next day to check in with me!
Meanwhile, I’m actually looking forward to my follow up visit and barely a week later my «plague» is gone!

After 3 years of products and facials, and thousands of dollars, I had given up on ever having clear skin. Then I saw a drastic improvement of a coworker’s skin and she referred me to Dr. Palm.
Dr. Palm is so friendly and knowledgeable. I was terrified of Accutane and swore I would never do it. But she assured me it was my best option and seven months later, I can’t believe my skin! I wish I would have done this years ago. Thanks Dr. Palm!

Art of Skin MD is fabulous! Candace provides the best facials /​micro surface treatments /​peels — you’ll love her! She is always on time, I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting area. Her face massages are amazing — truly relaxing any facial tension. Candace suggests future treatments and gives options — she is well educated on all treatments and products. Go to Candace for your esthetician services — you won’t be disappointed!

If you want to see one of the BEST dermatologists in So Cal who is an expert on the most advanced skincare technologies, then please don’t go anywhere else. Dr. Palm is the one to see. She even trains other physicians on Sculptra, so obviously she has to be a highly skilled expert. She is so kind and patient and thorough as well. Don’t expect to be rushed in, get what you want done in a hurry, and be rushed out. She is meticulous. The office is gorgeous too. Usually that alone would grab my attention, but she is such an amazing doctor that she well outshines her beautiful office.

I was very pleased with my visit today. I was there for surgery (basal cell). Dr. Palm’s office is nice and clean and her staff is professional. Her medical assistant ensured I was comfortable when prepping for surgery as that important to Dr. Palm that her patients are comfortable (least amount of pain possible). Since I just had surgery today I can’t say how she did with incision etc but I have no doubt that she did a good job. Her assistant was thorough in the explanation of cleaning/​care afterwards. Would highly recommend The Art of Skin.

Dr. Palm is the BEST! I could not have been happier with my first visit to her. She came highly recommended from several friends and I was overly pleased with not only how smart and meticulous her work it, but she could not have been nicer! She makes you feel extremely comfortable and talks you through every single detail of the procedure. She even lets you know exactly what she’s doing at all times throughout the procedures. The office itself is absolutely stunning and I don’t think I have ever been greeted so friendly by both of the ladies at the front desk! It truly was one of the best experiences I have ever had an any doctor and I look forward to going back for my next appointment!

Con’s-Very pricey! Wish she would come down on the price so that the majority of clients could get the ultherapy done as needed (would actually make more in the long run!). You have to have it done every 12 – 16 months for it to work. I did feel like they were trying to sell me more products than I need. Pro’s– are Dr. Palm is sweet and office is clean.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Palm today. Her office was so beautiful that I almost felt bad that I was looking so shabby! The receptionist were friendly and all of her staff was very nice as well. My appointment was for 2:30 and at exactly 2:30 they called my name! Dr. Palm is stunningly tall and beautiful and I was taken aback by her appearance as well as her positive energy and knowledge. Most Dermatologist that I have seen are quite «blah», Dr. Palm is quite the opposite! If you’re looking for a knowledgable, beautiful, funny & attentive dermatologist give Art of Skin a try!

Dr. Palm is a sweet and caring Dr. I have been to several cosmetic dermatologists for boxox, ipl, fillers… I finally found a doctor that I trust 100% with any procedure I want to have done on my face. Kind of a big decision to allow someone to alter your face — something you can’t hide. I tell all my friends to go see Dr. Palm — she isn’t the least expensive but I am not sure this is where you want to try and save money.

Dr. Palm is by far the best doctor I have ever seen in my life. I just wish she practiced in every field because she is that fantastic. I have seen her several times now and she is always so incredibly professional and has such a good bed side manner. She really truly cares about her patients.
I have made it a point to refer all of my friends and family members here because I wouldn’t want them going anywhere else. Dr. Palm’s office is conveniently located and is very modern and clean. I’ve had acne since I was 11 years old and have tried everything: Retin A, Accutane, antibiotics, gross tasting herbal remedies, you name it.
I looked up Dr. Palm on Google and after meeting her and explaining my story, she suggested spironolactone.
OMG. After 2 months of taking spironolactone, my acne has cleared up once and for all, and hasn’t returned for almost a year now (unless I forget to take it for a few days). I am so grateful to have found an honest and caring doctor, after spending so much time and so many years on unsuccessful treatments.
Her practice is quite different from other offices I have been to. The office is gorgeous and clean, and everyone who works in her office is extremely kind and professional. No attitudes here! I would highly recommend Dr. Palm and the Art of Skin.
