Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital

My dog cut his paw this morning and luckily This place isn’t far from my work shop. I called in advance to let them know I was on my way. Right when I got there the staff was ready and took care of my dog right away. Staff is great and the price was extremely good!!! I have a follow up to get the wrap removed and make sure everything is healing up properly.

This place is full of super stars! We happened to be on a work related trip from California when our elderly pug Brodie got a urinary bladder stone lodged in his urethra that required immediate surgery. The situation was made worse by the fact that it was a Friday afternoon and we were in a strange place. We were referred to a different 24 hour emergency vet specialist in the area who then flushed the stone back into the bladder until we could get the surgery done. They were going to charge us $ 5,000 in addition to the $ 1,000 we spent on the procedure & X-​rays. We simply could not afford to have them perform the surgery at this cost. Since they have a policy against referrals, we had to call around to every vet office in the area on Saturday morning in desperate hopes of finding someone available to do the surgery on short notice at a price we could afford. By some amazing miracle we were referred to Pilchuck! The experience was everything we could have asked for and more, from the initial contact to when we picked Brodie up 5 days later. We were told to call for updates which we did twice a day. Every time we called we were met with compassion and detailed information. We were very impressed by their level of organization. In addition to the excellent customer service and top notch veterinary care, we were able to steer clear of heavy financial burden. A very warm thank you to all of the staff for sending us home with our furry baby in good health!

My husband and I are both appalled at the horrible customer service and lack of bed-​side manner from the emergency staff last night.
We were at the vet 4 HOURS waiting for them to draw a urine sample for my cat. Ridiculous. To top it off, despite complaining (nicely) about the wait and the fact no one was giving us any update, the staff didn’t bother apologizing or even acknowledging that we had to wait that long. They really didn’t seem to care and were down-​right rude while checking us out.
This was an awful experience and we really should have driven further to another facility, but the staff on the phone made this sound very urgent. Odd because once we got there, no one acted with any sense of urgency. They really just seemed to want to freak us out, make us wait without any explanation, watch as people who got there after us left way before us, and then take our money and push us out the door.

Thank you so much for being kind, supportive, and helpful. We lost our puggle Maggie last week after another vet had prescribed $ 120 worth of medication to get her well after a tumor removal several months ago without really knowing what was wrong with her this time. Less than 48 hours later she passed away in our living room which is a sight I wish for no pet owner to have to see. At midnight when my husband had constructed a wooden box to bury her in, I made the decision it would be better to have her cremated and then I wouldn’t need to think about leaving her behind if we ever move. I called your office late that night and even though I know the receptionist was busy she listened to our story and let me cry while she kindly gave me the prices on private and non-​private cremation. The next day we brought our Maggie in and again the receptionist was kind and helpful and patient. She brought out a table to the parking lot to put Maggie’s box on and wheeled her into a side entrance. A few days later they called my husband and said Maggie was still wearing her collar so they removed her ID tag and embedded it in the clay pawprint we asked for along with her name. I picked it up this evening and its a beautiful remembrance of our little puggle. There were even a few stray hairs in the cellophane bag that it was put in which was probably an accident but made me tear up again to see a piece of her. It is on our mantle now along with a photo. I just wanted to say thank you, we just moved to the area and will certainly be bringing our other animals to your facility in the future for checkups and vaccinations. I will also not hesitate to refer you to others I know who may need your services.

I cannot even begin to describe the amazing and thorough care we have received at Pilchuck. At the time our dog Lobo was diagnosed with epilepsy (age 2) we were seeing another vet in the Snohomish area. After weeks of trying different doses of phenobarbital and searching for new options (which we were told didn’t exist), we were so frustrated! One seizure filled night we showed up on Pilchuck’s emergency doorstep and received such amazing, thorough and compassionate care that we never considered another vet again.
A week ago we brought in our 8 week old puppy who became incredibly ill only days after we received him. We were very concerned that he might not make it. Not only did Pilchuck save his little life, but they were INCREDIBLY upfront about the potential costs and options. In the end we were so thankful because if we had gone anywhere else I’m convinced we would have had not only huge bills to pay, but I don’t think the little guy would be here.
I will admit that am a nurse, and perhaps this lends a perspective which helps me to understand that quality care is both better (and cheaper in the long run) than so called «cheap» vet care– particularly in emergent situations. These people know their stuff. Every veterinarian and technician we interacted with were professional, knowledgable and compassionate. The support staff are wonderful to work with and so helpful. We love Pilchuck and will be lifelong customers. We would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication to the well being of the animals in their community.

It’s 11:30 at night right now on 3÷21÷15 and one of my family’s dogs is at pilchuck hospital right now. She has been there 5 out of the last 7 days. Sasha is a 8 month old Golden Retriever, and she is so sick she could die. PILCHUCK VETERINARY HOSPITAL is keeping her alive& helping my husband and I with the up most compassionate, knowledgeable and supportive care I have ever experienced with Veterinary’s.
Our other current visit with them in ¹²⁄₁₄ (yes just a few months ago) we also had the same outstanding services. My blessings to all the staff who are with my pup Sasha, right now. May all of you be blessed, and I sincerely thank you, thank you, thank you Pilchuck Veterinary!

Brought all 3 dogs in for a new patient exam here at Pilchuck Veterinary hospital. Our vet Dini McGregor was fantastic. We will definitely continue to come here!

It might be a little more expensive, but they know their stuff and one of my cats wouldn’t be alive today without them.

My family has taken our dogs here as long as I can remember, and I now take my own dog here now that I am an adult. I have never had a bad experience here — I always receive the most professional of customer service, and my dog always receives the best care. This place is great for all types of services — from a regular checkup to hydro-​treadmilling. I once had an issue where I had to get my dog to see an ophthalmologist ASAP and the vet I saw here said he could get me in in 5 days (he had also said that it was a time sensitive issue and that my dog needed to be seen right away). I asked him if we could get something sooner, and so he went and got back on the phone and did some talking. He got me an appointment for the following day at 11am — and he was doing this calling at 5pm! I was shocked! I later looked and saw that the dog ophthalmologist that he got my dog into usually is booked a month in advance! They care about their patients and they are great with everything here. Please, if you are in the Snohomish area, bring your animals here.

Never. Again. Do not take your pets here. Do not spend way too many of your hard earned dollars here. There is always an up-​sell. Nothing ever costs what they «estimate» it will when it’s time to pay the bill. And if your terrified dog growls at the utterly clueless vet tech as he runs away from her, he gets branded «aggressive.» Last I checked, aggressive dogs run towards people, not away from them. I requested both dogs’ medical histories, and we will not be back.

We had to visit the small animal emergency last night due to our old kitty having a seizure. I don’t know if it’s that we got a different vet or that their policies have changed, but our experience was like night and day from our last experience. The vet we saw was very kind and gentle. He gave us all of our options but didn’t try to push us into any of them. He explained kitty seizures to us and everything that could cause them. And what to watch for. It was overall as pleasant as an emergency vet visit can get.
I was convinced we were going to have to say goodbye to the old man (the cat, not the vet!) but we left there thinking anti-​seizure medicine is probably where we’re headed at some point.

I had the best experience at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital yesterday. About two weeks ago I noticed one of my cats had blood in their urine. I assumed it was my male cat who had crystals several years ago. I had taken him to another vet (with a nicer word for «cheap» in it’s name, will never go there again!) and was diagnosed with crystals. I started to give him wet food, as I knew this was helpful to dissolve the crystals. No blood in the urine after a week! But then I saw him struggling to urinate yesterday and knew I needed a vets help. It was 2pm on Christmas Eve and no vets were open! One of the vets I called happened to mention Pilchuck vet on their message so I gave them a call and a short time later we were there.
I have to say, the entire staff was outstanding! They were all so pleasant and calm and nice to each other! I know that sounds bizarre, but they were above and beyond nice to each other, always offering to help someone and thanking them if they were helped. To me that is a good sign of a well run organization, respect for your co-​workers. But not only that, they were above and beyond great to me and my cat.
They kept my cat for a few hours while they ran some tests and called me around 8pm to say he was ready to leave. When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly face and another friendly face that brought out my cat to me.
I wish I got everyone’s name who I came in contact with there so I could thank them all here. So to all the staff that helped me and Parker on Christmas Eve, THANK YOU!

We have been taking our pets to Pilchuck for years. We have always been treated great with the exception of a woman vet who no longer works there. You get what you pay for –complete care. Dr. John is kind, loving & considerate to both our little dog as well as to us. He has taken such great care of all our pets. All options are discussed as to care. Yes, there are less expensive vets but often times it is because they cut corners in the care needed. Our pets have seen all the small animal vets there, all of them are awesome & caring !!! We would never ever consider going anywhere else. We have recommended Pilchuck to many people who have been so grateful for the care their pets received.

Always a good experience here. They are so helpful and understanding. I went to one of those cheap vet places and they made me feel like a bad pet owner. Pilchuck has never made me feel bad when I can’t afford to do something, they have always given me other options.

I’ve been taking my little pup Oscar to see Dr. Kevin Wilson since he was about 12 weeks old and he absolutely loves going in to see him! Dr. Wilson is the most personable and caring vet around; his passion for animals is truly genuine. He’s taken such great care of Oscar over the past few years. I’m completely heartbroken that we need to find another vet, as a move has taken us out of the area. I’ve read reviews regarding cost, but how can you put a price on life? You just don’t! Very clean facility and offers 24 hour emergency care.

Arrived at 4 am with a newborn foal and mare and they basically saved the foal’s life. That kind of care and service doesn’t come cheap, so if you want cheap, look elsewhere. Awesome staff, transparent billing. Overall, extremely pleased with the service.

Pilchuck isn’t my primary vet, but for soundness issues it is excellent. I’m disappointed to see so many negative reviews, when my handful of interactions with doctors and staff couldn’t have been better.
I’ve seen Dr. Bryant twice for my TB’s ligament tear. It was a difficult diagnosis to make and Dr. Bryant was patient, informative and thoughtful with both my horse and me throughout the visit. I found the prices to be very reasonable for the quality of facilities and care.
The prognosis for my horse’s soundness and rideability was not good, but after following Dr. Bryant’s advice for the slow and difficult recovery, he is back to (almost) 100%, with only a bit of lingering stiffness when warming up. Considering the severity of the ligament tear, this is a miracle to me. Dr. Bryant and staff have also been great at answering my (sometimes panicked) questions along the way.
For an injury, I will never take either of my horses elsewhere. I’m thankful every day that I spent the time, trouble and money to see Dr. Bryant. My gelding has been in work for more than a year without a single day of lameness, and watching him enjoy his evening gallop around the pasture is a reminder of the quality of care we got at Pilchuck.

I’ve been using Pilchuck for 18 years. I have cats, dogs and horses and they all come to Pilchuck. Yes they are a little expensive and that’s why I took one star away. I use Dr. Tim John for the dogs and cats and have since 1995. I’m sure I have embarrassed him over the years by saying I just love him, but he has literally saved lives of several of my pets. And when the time came to let them go he always did it with the greatest compassion. I love the «paw prints» they make when a pet crosses the rainbow bridge.
I’ve also use the emergency clinic a number of times. While I trust the day staff completely because I know them, the emergency staff seems to do pretty well too. Like anywhere else you go, the vets there have different personalities. Especially dealing with the emergency staff, some seem to have better customer service than others. I have been in there and had to wait when it seems like no one else was there only to find out that they were actually doing emergency surgery on another animal. They have to do triage just like any emergency room for people. I’ve moved a few times and now live about 45 minutes away but I still come here.
I also use the equine staff for well care and teeth floating. I’ve been to the clinic and had them out to my house. When my horse had colic and required surgery he gave them a rough time. He was a pretty sick horse and ended up being there about three weeks. It was expensive, but they pulled him through. I think the entire equine staff got a chance to work with him. They were great!

I had to take my Frenchie here for her hurt foot. I had the best experience. They were warm, friendly staff… and reasonable prices.
This was after hours on a Sunday.

I don’t understand the negative reviews for Pilchuck. Yeah, it is not going to be cheap to have a facility with extensive services and open extended hours. That is why some vets elsewhere may offer less expensive services. Staying in business means running a profitable business people…
Pilchuck is not our primary vet, but we’ve used them for dog and horse emergencies and have had positive experiences.
I’m glad Pilchuck is there. It’s not my first choice for preventative care but I can rely on them in an emergency.
