DEKRA Emissions Check Station

Went here for the first time a week ago and loved it. Easiest place to get your emissions done, with friendly customer service as well :-) Was second in line when I arrived and was still «in-​and-​out» in less than 10 minutes!

This shop is conveniently located and easy to enter and exit. It is rarely crowded so you can get in and out quickly. You’ll notice it — a little yellow looking house. Ken is a pro and quick on his feet. You’ll be out in a snap. Sure, you could go to those creepy shacks but why?! Stick with the tried and true — go here: they make this errand less painful and it’s the only place I know of that’s open on Sunday. :)

BEWARE!!! Inspector Kenneth Arberg tried to cheat me out of $ 20!!! I went in to have a retest since my first emissions test failed. As he’s running the emissions, he asks if I’d like to pay cash or charge. I stated charge, and he says «well if I cut you a ‘deal’, will you pay cash?» I know how steep merchant fees can get for credit cards in small businesses, so I agreed to the cash. Either that or I figured maybe this older guy wasn’t too comfortable with electronic payments. In any event, I didn’t think much else of it and gave him $ 20 (the cash «deal»). After he finished, he told me the emissions passed and gave me my certificate. I drove off, and no sooner than I get to the first traffic light, I read over the certificate and find clearly printed on the report «Test Type: After Repairs, Test Fee: FREE»… Say what!!! I immediately whipped my car around back to Dekra, and asked Mr. Arberg about the free retest. Suddenly it becomes MY fault that he just tried to cheat me out of $ 20. He starts in frustrated with «Oh! I didn’t know you had been to this station before! Well ma’am, I can’t read minds! Why didn’t you tell me?!» Ummmm sir, you SCANNED my VIN #, which means you have electronic record of my vehicle. If you didn’t, the information showing that my car was in «after repairs» would never have shown up in your system. After several words back and forth, he refunded my $ 20. Just a warning to know the laws, get a receipt, and read all information on your inspection report!!! It’s such a shame how people will get over on you if you aren’t aware.
The first emissions test with the younger guy was great, by the way. Too bad one conman took my experience from about a 4 to a 1.

Friendly service. Make sure to print off the $ 5 coupon before you go. This is my 3^rd year using them. I tried to buy the sweetjack deal, but it sold out quickly. When I arrived, there was a tech servicing the machines. They resolved the issue quickly, they apologized for the wait and took care of me.
