This place is outstanding and the owners are among the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. It help that the food is amazing too.

I have been going to Casa Luis for the last 25 years and have recommended it to friends and relatives. Yesterday my wife and I stopped in for a drink at happy hour time at most restaurants, we had Sangria and appetizers, I requested a seltzer water and when my tab came O was charged $ 3.00 «shame on you Casa Luis» it will be some time before I come back. Generally Casa Luis sees me once a week.

Good Spanish food. Many specials. Just ask. love the atmosphere. Service is good. Try the Tomcat Margarita. Patron silver, contreaux, one fresh squeezed lime and a splash of sour mix, salt and sour mix optional — on the rocks. WOW

The restaurant looks good inside. Went there looking to eat spanish cuisine and what i gound is that the menu is half mexican. Tha sparkling water was expired. El caldo Gallego was not good and the sirloin tasted like fajitas mexicanas.

We went there for dinner with some friends, it was Saturday night, place was packed. Some what of long wait to be seated. Mr. Luis, kept coming around and informing us that very soon we would be seated. The service was great, the food out of this world. So refreshing to find a place that still values the customer, offer such a personalized service and above all an amazing tasting food. Props to you and your team Señor Luis.

Absolute BEST, traditional and perfectly priced Spanish Cuisine on Long Island. Myself(being from Spain, Galicia to be exact) was INSTANTLY Brought back to my childhood in my grandmothers«parlor» stealing candy, and peoples leftover ½″ of wine. The food is great and authentic and the help was farrrr BEYOND an A+++++++ rating! The owner came over to the table to check in on how our Neal was going(a seemingly lost art nowadays” and offered us an after dinner cordial(nice touch). Place COULD use a little updating inside as you feel like you can be in any time period between 1950 and 1970. Especially with the popularity of so many«Tapas bars» around I feel like he can both keep it traditional and still cater to the yuppie«tapas and sangria» crowd. The old and outdated décor(painfully) is the ONLY reason I’m taking away a star! GREATSPOT!

Unbelievable food, sangria, and sweet employees! Always greeted with a smile. We’ve been getting the paella for years and nothing compares. Moist and flavorful! Friends have also loved the green sauce and everything else!

The old saying, if a place is crowded it’s gotta be fantastic! Yes this place is a gem. I’ve been going here since the inception in the early 1990’s. This is truly authentic Spanish Cuisine. Luis the owner & chef is a blast. Bring your appetite and leave your troubles at home because his margaritas are the very finest on Long Island. The veal chop is one of my many favs. Get the Chef sauce on the side and dip luis’s delectable Spanish potatoes in it. The sauce has 10 levels of flavor! Perfect for the veal chop. The seafood rocks this cozy place. Marascalo(green sauce) yum. Valencana yummy! Nothing more satisfying then their assortment of Tappa’s. You can tell when you are first greeted with warm chips and warm home made salsa your in for a real treat. If you find yourself there on a weekend, go hang at the bar and adjust your brain till a table opens up otherwise treat yourself and be pampered during the week for lunch or dinner. And do not forget to have a Cardinal Mendoza before you leave. You will become family there after just 1 visit!

Still a four star superstar — but with a warning. Don’t come on a busy weekend or come knowing that there will be problems. We were here on a recent Saturday night and this was our experience. Our reservation was honored(which is unusual here) but the room was packed to the gills and very uncomfortable. Service was a mixed bag. Though no fault of our waiter, appetizers we ordered never came to the table. The kitchen was backed up all night and it took forever for our meals to arrive. Prices have crept up here and Casa Luis is not the bargain it used to be. I guess when I am paying $ 30+ for my entrée I expect a better level of service and comfort. The food is still great and I still highly recommend — just don’t go in prime time.

The food here is great. Everything I’ve tried here tastes delicious and has a homemade feel. The staff are very sweet and most definitely add to the atmospheres homey feeling. Interestingly the filet here is awesome, perfect juicy medium steak with sautéed onions on top, my favorite dish here; paired with the house soup and fried potatoes on the side. Beware of the margaritas they sneak up on you very quickly

My feeling about this restaurant are very mixed. Yes, its dated on the inside and the tables are very close together but those things really didnt bother us too much. The noise level on a Friday night wasnt bad. We had a reservation for 4 and were seated immediately. Waitstaff was friendly. Appetizers were a hit and a miss. Chorizo sausages were just a couple ounces of sliced sausage on a small plate. Nothing else. Other similar restaurants have served chorizo appetizer with tortillas, rice or something additional versus a few slices on a plate for $ 10. Chicken quesadilla was very good. Paella Valencia was good but the salt level was extreme. Lobster entrée was overcooked and dry. A menu item listed as chicken with bechamel sauce arrived a fried cutlets with a cheese sauce under the breading. While good, it wasnt what was expected. Chicken fajitas were good, with the chicken, peppers and onions in a red sauce. A request of hot cause brought a bottle of Tabasco Sauce. I expected a spanish hot sauce. Sides of black beans and rice were standard stuff. Dessert of peach melba and vanilla custard were fair. After finishing our dessert and paying the $ 230 bill for 4 people were we talking for 15 minutes before a waiter came over and politely asked us if we would mind getting up because people were waiting for the table. Considering our whole time at the table was less that 90 minutes I was kind of surprised. I dont think 15 minutes is too long to sit after the check nor is a 90 minute dinner too long to occupy a table. We wont return.

This little homey spot has quickly become a favorite. Wonderful, warm attentive service and the food is outstanding. Great prices for some outstanding specials. The sangria(red or white) is out of this world and sure to relax you before your senses are touched by the outstanding food. Dont let the crowded room, your fellow diners are close or the outdated décor throw you — this place is a keeper. You will be very pleased. Make sure you visit for a special occasion — you get to wear the sombrero and get sung to — although i am not sure what the song is! You wont be disappointed…

I have been following luis«The owner» for 35 years when he used to have«The Iberian Restaurant» in huntington. As a matter of fact I loved the food so much back then, I had my wedding there! You cannot go wrong here… great food, casual dress… atmosphere is plain and simple and luis can always be seen walking around talking to the guests. Love the baked clams as a starter, baby whole little necks in a special breaded recipe sautéed in a light oil base… emmmmm then you must try the paella valencia with lobster(if preferred) or the mariscada in green sauce OMG both dishes are my favorite and are bursting with flavor! Both dishes come with scallops, fresh clams, shrimp and mussels the paella also comes with chicken and chorizo sausage. The waiter brings the pot to your table and«bon appetit!» Hold out for seconds, you wont leave hungry! What are you waiting for???

Excellent food and very attentive service. We had the chorizo and shrimp with garlic sauce for appetizer, both very good. The entrees and desserts were also excellent. We also had white sangria — delicious! There was plenty of food.

Decided to try this little spot after my friend moved into the area and based on his friends recommendation but unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed in the food. I’m also a bit confused as to what country the chef is emulating as one look at the menu will reveal both Mexican and Spanish cuisine. A few Spanish tapas type appetizers, then Quesadillas are thrown in. Next is two pages of Seafood common in Spain, but then you have the fajita option on the side. I was simply bemused. Ok so now the good stuff: the service was great. Very friendly and attentive staff. And the margarita on the rocks I ordered was also excellent. They serve you a basket of fresh tortilla chips and some decent salsa to start you off. Good start indeed! We ordered the chorizo and that was very good as an appetizer as well. My friend had the Paella Valencia which he says he enjoyed and he was given enough food for leftovers for the next day. Now the not so great: An overly dressed iceberg lettuce salad appeared for us to share, I guess included in the meals, but unfortunately the lettuce was so limp and covered in a tasteless dressing, I had to pass and decided to wait on my entrée instead. Unfortunately, that wasn’t any better. I ordered the Shrimp in Green Sauce, which is described as Shrimp with parsley, garlic and sherry. What I got was a plate of shrimp swimming in a white sauce overloaded with some bitter parsley and some strange flavor. I chose the Saffron rice as a side which usually I love, but this rice was flavorless. Needed some more seasoning, so I wound up trying to mix the shrimp sauce with the rice to make it work. Not the end of the world but enough of a disappointment where I don’t feel like coming back. Lets also throw in the fact that this place has the décor circa 1972, where the chairs said«goodbye» to their padding decades ago. So it really needs to be updated.

Been living in this area for 10 years now and this is our first time going here. We had guests staying at our home and decided to give it a shot. The staff was very friendly, the place is 100% out dated. The food was a B to me and my guests, it was good but lacking something. Needed to spice up my dish of rice/chicken/sausage with some hot sauce and salt. They give you plenty of food. The soda was a little flat, but drinkable. Overall I will go back and I do recommend it. I will update this post the next time I go back.

I really can’t believe what I read on Unilocal most times because this place does not make great food or even good food for that matter especially for the price I’ll just list and rate for the smart Unilocaler 1.margarita 3 stars it was good but not 10.50 good 2.shrimp cocktail 2 star 4 big shrimp but lacked flavor skip it 3. Steak 2 ½ was big but untrimmed and under seasoned 4. My kids quesadilla was microwaved big zero 5.paella 3 – 3 ½ stars I liked it and ate all of it but I’m a Army guy so I ate a lot worse food… The seafood in it wasn’t overcooked and the rice was like parboiled rice ahh good 5.service friendly but slow and I went there @ 6:30 and it wasn’t busy yet 6. I almost forgot chips tasteless and stale salsa is terrible and bread was hard and cold All that for a $ 112 I felt like a sucker when I left never again… Don’t waste your money I tell like it is

Casa Luis is the bomb! My family and I have been coming here since as long as I can remember — and for good reasons. The cuisine is Northern Spain and paella is their specialty, in particular, Paella Valenciana — which is where paella was invented! This is one of their robust dishes which I like to order with the half lobster tail as a real treat. Other notable items worth ordering: Salpicon(cold shrimp/scallop citris salad), Gambas al ajillo(gotta love garlic!), and Pulpo. Definitely order a margarita or a pitcher to knock your socks off(they are lethal!) If you’re lucky, go during grappa season, where Luis himself may appear from the kitchen and pour you a free sample of his homemade libation. Décor is a little old school and worn Spaniard-style home of the caballeros, but makes for a cozy dining experience and is a great date spot ;) Will be returning here again and again as it is nice to go somewhere where, «everybody knows your name!»

Good solid Long Island style Spanish restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Upon our friends invitation, we met at Casa Luis for dinner on a busy Sat night. Getting there about 7 there were still a few spots in the parking area however given the popularity of this local restaurant, parking looks as if it can get tricky later in the evening. Inside is a tight but cozy dining room with bullfighting paintings and Big hats hanging on the posts(reserved for pictures when it’s your birthday I was told). The menu has a good selection of Spanish entrees like paella and mariscada dishes in addition to chops and assorted seafood dishes. I went with a seafood mariscada in green sauce with lobster. The plate it was served on was a bit small for the amount of clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops along with a lobster tail. The food, swimming in their rich mariscada green sauce, was very close to spilling off the plate. I would have preferred it served in a pot as they do some of their other dishes and then scooped on to my plate little by little. The green sauce was delicious with garlic and parsley, great for sopping it up with bread afterwards! House made chips and sauteed veggies were served alongside and both were delicious. For dessert, flan of course with a decaf cappuccino. Nice creamy flan floating in a small amount of syrup. In all, a nice meal solid 4 star local gem.
