On a recent trip from Baltimore, Maryland to Tampa, Florida I was given a voucher for a free stay as a gift at any Wyndham group hotel. Well, I got caught in nasty D.C.traffic for several hours and ended up in Smithfield, NC at midnight, and I was exhausted so I stopped off at a rest stop to nap and discovered that you can’t stay more than two hours at a rest stop. I pulled out my phone and checked el Goog for a pet friendly Wyndham hotel nearby(I had my dog with me, a 50lbs lemon drop beagle) to use my voucher and Smithfield Super 8 was the best result. So, I arrive at about 12:10am, and I’m informed that with the Wyndham voucher could be used, but because the number for the customer service staff that processes the vouchers was unavailable, but it could still be used on the website to book a room. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t allow a check in time before 3pm. I REALLY wasn’t interested in waiting 15 hours to check in when I planned to be in Tampa and unpacked by then. The night clerk at the desk(I want to say his name was Keith, but it’s actually been a month since my visit) was incredibly helpful. He gave me a few discounts, as he couldn’t just give me a free room, and a room that would’ve been around $ 99+$ 15 pet fee was $ 75 after everything. Now onto the room: extremely clean. No fleas, no pet stains, no smells, it really felt like some of the more upscale places I’ve spent over $ 500 for one night, in regards to how clean and inviting the room was. It had plenty of comfortable furnishings, including a chair with ottoman, comfortable beds with some of the best pillows ever, a desk with a nice office chair, and a bench that was perfect for me to sit and tie my shoes, as bending over isn’t an option at six and a half feet tall. The room had ample space in the mini fridge for the food and drinks from my cooler, television with decent cable(I don’t really watch tv) excellent free WiFi, and the bathroom was spotless and well stocked. They’re also a green hotel that attempts to minimize their waste, which is kinda cool. Speaking of green… There was tons of space to walk my dog and one of those waste bag dispensers to clean up after him(though I have a dispenser built into his leash, not everyone does) Finally, the location. Lots of outlet malls literally surround the hotel, and there’s a sheetz a mile away! Overall, the room was so awesome and the staff was so friendly that on the return trip to Baltimore we actually booked a room there again with the free stay voucher, but anytime I’m passing through NC, if I’m about ready to take a break for the night in Smithfield, it’ll be at the Smithfield Super 8!

Wow! We chose this hotel for a quick one nighter coming from a wonderful family reunion. Was hesitant because we’ve never stayed at a Super 8 but this one surpassed our expectations. Staff(especially Kimberly) was SUPER cool! Our room is very clean and(I know this may seem trivial to most people) the pillows are DEVINE! Definitely, worthy of more stays!

Stayed there one night and the folks that run the place are very nice. The room was clean, the breakfast was fine for my three kids. If you get in the pool, make sure your kids have goggles. They keep the chlorine heavy to keep it clean. Nothing like the Super 8 in Maryland.

For a pet friendly hotel, this place is tops. It smells clean and there’s no fur or visible stains from previous stays. 15 dollars per dog brings the total to about 104.00. It’s right off I-95, in Smithfield. We stayed in room 114. 2 beds, large fridge, coffee maker, sofa chair with ottoman, desk and chair, wifi, decent breakfast, super sweet staff. Indoor pool is lovely. Outdoors, plenty of green space to stretch dogs legs. Loved it. Would stay again. Much nicer than Red Roof Inn.

Clean, has some rooms with jacuzzis. Pet friendly. Great for the price. Right off i-95 and within walking distance to Carolina premium outlets, several restaurants and a movie theater.

I have never been to a Super8 that was this clean. I am not sure why the shower head rotates, but it was clean, sheets were crisp and the front desk was friendly.

On the outside, looks inviting and thanks to a little corporate espionage, it appears this super 8 is ok if the Hampton inn is full. Many similar amenities, but the smell of cigarette smoke permeates the hallway and seeps into the«no smoking» rooms. I didn’t sign up for that feature. I left the bathroom fan on for about 30 minutes on arrival and subsequent departure, I just let it run. The staff seemed somewhat friendly if provoked, yet unskilled at hospitality whereas 1.) They appeared to be upset that I was checking in and making them do work(can I get a hello, welcome, or «hey»?!). 2.) They couldn’t locate my reservation without cross checking each other for 5 minutes despite the fact that I had my confirmation number when I walked up to them. Trust me, the Hampton Inn is so much better unless you are really on a shoestring budget or just so tired anything will do. Good location and proximity to restaurants.
