I attended the ELL Parent Center’s graduation ceremony last May. Several of the students, who are all parents of Niles Township school kids, stood up to tell their stories of coming to the United States with limited language skills, and of how the center helped them be able to better involve themselves in their communities and in their own children’s school lives. It was very inspiring, and the students were very brave to stand up in front of a full room of people to speak publicly(and quite eloquently!). Students graduated in classes on not just language, but also parenting skills, computer skills, and more. This is the kind of organization I think we need more of in this country; they create real, practical, and valuable contributions to the community, working with some of the people most in need.

They do amazing things at the center including ELL classes, child daycare, translation training, health fairs, community events, Parent Mentor Program… it’s all here for the residents of the Niles Township and their families.
