CD Peacock

Back in its heyday, CD Peacock used to cater to the likes of Marshall Field and other famous celebrities. Many wealthy, and ordinary folks shopped here. That was their motto for many years and it prided itself on superior customer service. There were stores across Chicagoland and it’s surrounding suburbs. Old Orchard mall during the time of Montgomery Ward’s (present location of Nordstrom), Wags, and Marshall Field’s had a CD Peacock, then it closed. Well now, the store is suprisingly back and located next to the original location of Montgomery Ward’s (Nordstrom), alongside a Rolex boutique.
You may be wondering, well, what has changed since the closing and reopening of the store? First, all the Chicago stores are closed. Second, Northbrook location is closing and inventory merging to Oakbrook, Woodfield and Old Orchard. Third and most importantly, customer service, which it has prided itself over its founding since 1837 has taken a nosedive for the worst.
Walking into the old orchard store not on one occasion but several, have I noticed customer service being nonexistent. One time the associates would glance over to your hands, wrists and neck, checking to see if you are wearing any jewelry. Another time I would be at a particular counter and only the security guard would greet me. The associates would just be chatting among themselves or looking at a computer monitor, as if I didn’t exist.
I am already judged the moment I walk into the store. The purpose of going to CD Peacock is to make a purchase, not to satisfy your visual wealth cravings. What if I dressed like a slob, would I receive even crappier service cause it doesn’t look like I cannot afford to buy anything?
Also, there are no discounts. No wonder their stores are closing.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been around around for 170 years. Look at Bailey Banks and Biddle — gone. Mayor’s (the space your Northbrook location took over and now you’re closing) — down to one store now.
Don’t judge a person by how they look. Maybe they might just buy something. Or maybe not and go next door to the other jewelry store that opened/​was also founded in 1837 — Tiffany & Co.

Just stopped in for a quick watch repair and also to look around. Staff is great and very knowledgeable. Also I didn’t get any pretentious vibe at all. My next major watch purchase will undoubtedly be from this location.

C.D. Peacock is probably one of the best if not the best jewelry store in Chicago. My fiancée and I have been patrons for the past 3 years. Throughout this time, the service and quality of products have been unmatched. We originally came to this store looking for an engagement ring after visiting many jewelry stores. One thing that distinguishes the amazing service at C.D. Peacock from the other stores is that customers are encouraged to browse, explore and ask questions without the awful pressure of having to buy something. More often than not, entering a jewelry store becomes a stressful ordeal, between the staff pushing for a sale and lack of inventory, I always felt trapped between out of budget options or lower quality products. This has never occurred at this jewelry store, through the years, our wishes have been accommodated. I have always felt I could walk in, even if I didn’t know exactly what I wanted and without pressure, explore and convince myself that the product we liked is the one and only. We personally worked with Pat H. She was great and embodied everything I love about this store. I highly highly recommended this experience.

Probably the BEST jewelry buying experience ever! If you are looking for great quality diamond rings or loose diamonds in good price this is the place to go!
My husband and I went to C.D. Peacock last Sunday to look for anniversary band that would go with my diamond ring. My ring has some diamonds on the sides around the center and because of that for every band that I tried I would get a gap in between the ring and a band, which I did not like. We went to several jewelers looking for anniversary/​wedding bands, but found absolutely nothing that would look good.
C.D Peacock was the last store that we visited that day and I am so happy we did! Pat, who is the Sales Professional over there is GREAT! She looked at my ring and almost immediately showed me a band that not only was gorgeous but fit perfectly with my ring! Finally, no gap between the ring and the band! Yeay!
Pat really knows her diamonds! :) She listens and will not push anything just to sell it! She actually advised me to get a band with smaller diamonds so it does not overshadow the ring. With the sale they were having we saved close to $ 2,000 and ended up with the ring of much better quality (better diamonds plus platinum instead of white gold!) and much better price comparing to other stores.
Needless to say, I love my new band and how it complements my ring! It puts a big smile on my face every time I look at it. :) Thank you guys, we will definitely be back!

Perhaps the best jewelry store that I have ever purchased from. From the first moment I entered the store I was greeted by a wonderful woman named Pat. She helped my fiancé and I out with an engagement ring sizing, and with the purchase of a wedding band. Pat’s expertise and experience is fantastic, and she can help anyone find a perfect piece at a great deal –even if it’s not in stock (just ask and they can give you great ideas). I highly recommend you stop by next time you’re in the area. I will definitely purchase from them again. Their great service has made me a lifetime customer.

I went to C.D. Peacock to look at Mont Blanc and Rolex timepieces. I was very impressed with the service and courtesy extended to me by the entire staff, especially — Doli Mansour and Billy Smith. I would highly recommend them, and I plan on being back again soon for another purchase.

I was very pleased with my purchase and the help I got from Mckenzie. It was nice to work with some that had good knowledge and helped me with the perfect ring. Gave the ring to my girl and she loves it! I will be back in the future and hope to work with Mckenzie again.

JANET IVAN is our CD Peacock consultant and for good reason. We have made a number of other purchases since my last review and all have been terrific. This is a high end store that gives high end service. As we approach Christmas, we will be doing the bulk of our shopping here. Looking forward to enjoying the holidays this year because thankfully JANET IVAN will get us our gifts and have them wrapped for us, just like last year. Christmas shopping made easy!

I’ve read previous reviews, and am disappointed that I didn’t have quite the same customer service. I stopped last Tuesday with my mother to take a look at a engagement ring setting that I had seen on the Ritani website. I have been looking at Ritani and this is a preferred location for Ritani. Anyway, I walked in and no other customers where in the store at the time, I asked the sales lady working if she could show me the Ritani settings. Ok, so she showed me where they were, and I asked if she could tell me about a praticular setting I had seen online and if they carried it. She told me she wouldn’t know, and I would have to look at the website. Well, I told her I had that’s why im here because I was curious if it was in store so I could see it in person. Again, not much help! I did see a similar setting and asked to see and she let me try it on, but didn’t interact with me at all. Now my boyfriend had asked me to pick out some rings I like and he would go in and get it. This whole process is stressful enough that I thought that the sales people would interact with us and offer to show us other things similar or just anything. I felt like she was looking past us the whole time almost as if we weren’t good enough to shop there! Hello if I couldn’t afford it I wouldn’t be there!!! I asked if I could at least size my finger so I knew what to tell him. I took down the sku # of the one ring I liked, but I really was so uncomfortable Im not sure I would go to CD Peacock now. When my mother and I both walked out at the same time both said «that was awkward»! I wonder if we were dressed in designer clothes and purses if we would have been treated differently? This has been eating at me for a week now, and I wish Ritani did the custom ring viewing with some other company, because this one left a bad taste in my mouth. I went to another jeweler and the sales lady was exceptional and gave me the experience I had hoped for. Not to make me feel like I cant afford an engagement ring. That CD Peacock sales associate needs to get some people skills and try to put a smile on her snooty face!

I came in this location shopping for an engagement ring. I knew what I was looking for (sort of) but was shown many options in my price range. What I wanted wasn’t available so it needed to be made. I was on a time restraint and had the day picked out for when I was going to be proposing and was assured the ring would be ready by then.
The week came up and I started getting nervous about if it would be ready but I was given day by day updates and the ring came right on time and looking better then I imagined.

I would like to offer a well deserved commendation to Pat who is a Sales Consultant at the C.D. Peacock jewelry boutique in the Old Orchard Shopping Center. Pat has does a wonderful job on each occasion my wife and I have interacted with her, whether it be in a sales interaction or a service interaction. She is the best!

CD Peacock recently handled a series of repairs on my TAG Heuer. Though I initially dropped my watch off at the Old Orchard location, I ultimately worked with Gabe at their Oakbrook location. Gabe took phenomenal care of my watch. He made good when we hit some complications along the way and delivered beyond my expectations.
Without hesitation, I will turn to CD Peacock and Gabe when I need my TAG serviced in the future.

Normally I don’t write reviews for places that I have never shopped at. And yes– I have never made a purchase at this store.
But I do want to commend this store on its incredible customer service.
I was admiring the beautiful watches in the window when the awesome security guard inside motioned for us to come in. REALLY? You want me to come into the ROLEX store??- usually security guards yell at you for looking because you are too poor! :P
My friend and I walked in and were promptly asked if we wanted water. We politely refused but the amazing associates actually brought them to us.
I decided to look (because dreaming about retail purchases like this makes me more motivated to work harder in law school) and the woman had me try on a watch that really spoke to me.
«it’s 22».
As in 22,000!!! yes. 22,000 for a solid rose-​gold diamond encrusted watch.
I gently gave her back the watch. The employees were phenomenal individuals and perhaps one day I will be able to walk out with my investment piece– although not the 22k one. Maybe 7k. eventually ;]
