Milgard Windows & Doors

I just wanna thank Gevork and his crew for the excellent work they did on my house. They were very nice, efficient, and clean. I would definitely be using them in the future and will recommend them.

I made an appointment to have sliding doors fixed under warranty over one month ago. I sat waiting for technician to show up today and he never showed. I called customer service and they said my appt is next week. The email from Milgard and my calendar shows today. They ‘claim’ they called me yesterday (once) at 9am and left a message on my cellphone cancelling today. I have no missed call from Milgard show up in my call log and there are no voice messages from Milgard around that time. The call never happened. Milgard should call more than once to confirm cancellation of appointment.

We have Milgard windows throughout the house. I’ve been happy with their insulation and noise reduction. At some point over the last 10 years, two of our window panels «failed» and became cloudy. I just assumed that the panels were getting old and I would have to put in a whole new window at some point when I could afford it. A friend said to call Milgard to see if they would fix them. I did, and Milgard replaced both panels for free. It’s rare that companies stand by their products 10 years down the road, but Milgard did — and that’s why they deserve 5 stars. Thanks!

In 2002 I bought windows and sliding door from Milgard with lifetime warranty. We have had nothing but problems with this Company and door. The door has broken down three times thus far. We called for service and the first available appointment is 28 days away. I find this unacceptable and a security issue. I called them to explain my frustration they told me there was no customer service rep but if I wanted to speak with a supervisor of service, Jennifer Perez, I could call back the next day. I called back the next day and left a message of my concerns, with no response. I feel this is unacceptable. I believe if i purchase a new item they would be installed the next day. However, the warranty they leave you out to dry. For a company that speaks of excellence, short lead time and quality I see none of it.

Absolutely some of the worst Windows. Vertical Windows always having issue with the rails to open & close. Lifetime warranty is a joke and for a company that prides itself on service & quality should pride itself more on poor customer service and cheap materials. All I want are my windows to stay shut and open and close when I want them to but that seems like to much. Waiting to hear back from Corp office and hoping they actually care about their customers

I’m really surprised at some of the negative reviews regarding service. We had service on two of our sliders… one 13 years old that was binding, and a 9 year old 4-​panel slider that had it’s track overflow with water in a recent torrential rain storm. The tech, Bobby, was able to remedy both situations and really went «above and beyond», providing tips to avoid future problems. I couldn’t ask for a better service call… prompt, polite, and complete!

I’m the second owner of the house I’m in. My Neighbor across the street is the original owner. Our houses are only 10 Years old (Village at the Park in Camarillo). Milgard Windows were installed in all of the houses in my area.
We had 5 windows in our house needing minor repair (less than 30 minutes of work).
When I called Milgard to get them fixed, I was surprised when the girl said that I called in the nick of time because my warranty was going to end in a few days but since I called before that time the warranty would be honored.
My neighbor, because he’s the original owner, has a Lifetime Warranty on his Milgard Windows BUT, because I’m not the «Original» owner the warranty magically turned into a 10 Year warranty from the sate they were installed. I’m VERY Lucky I called when I did, others will be surprised when they find out Milgard is going to chisel them out of a bunch of money just because they aren’t the original owners. As far as time factor getting this 30 minute job performed, it took 3 weeks before the guy came out and fixed them. I strongly suggest you check out JELDWIN Windows should you decide to get new windows. I totally agree with the posts about customer service (in this case the word «Service» is an Oxymoron).
Note to Milgard: You either Warranty your Windows for life or you don’t. To suddenly change the length of your warranty based on ownership status is nothing short of extorion and making a fast buck. Most businesses do well because customers spread the word about them by mouth. You can rest assure I’ll make sure folks are privy to your «Scam.»

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with in my life. 8 unsuccessful attempts to replace one window over a one year time period. Incompetent management.

Hector delivered and installed our screens and handles this morning correcting a long standing issue of poor communication and quality control. .Both the Milgard facility and technician were communicative, punctual, polite and efficient. Their screens were still delivered in less than perfect condition, with scratches here and there, but I am nonetheless overjoyed to finally have this situation resolved and to be able to enjoy the light and ventilation afforded by our new french doors. It’s a new season and I’m so pleased to be starting each morning with beautiful fall breezes. Thank you Tim C and Chris Fawkes for your intervention in this matter. I am truly grateful .

My Milgard french doors were under lifetime warranty but Milgard is slow and unresponsive. I couldn’t lock my back french doors unless I got a new spindle. American Lock and Key has a large shop and a substantial inventory. I needed a new spindle that went between the knobs. I gave up waiting for Milgard and took the broken spindle and the two knobs to American Lock and Key. The old Milgard junk was cheap; two sheet metal halves broken into 4 pieces. The boss/​owner at American Lock and Key had a long piece of solid 5/​16″ bar and cut me two 3 ½″ pieces to size in ten minutes. He only charged me $ 10 total. The solid spindles (I had him cut me an extra one) are much stronger and work much better than the original. THANK YOU AMERICAN LOCK AND KEY!

We are buying a house from the original builder and there were windows that were fogged… Called them and said the «lifetime» warranty is only for original owner… Nice way to get away from their «lifetime» warranty… Trying to work on getting them to do before escrow closes but what does «lifetime» warranty mean… If they truly believed in their windows and their installation work. «Lifetime» would mean for the lifetime of the house… Advertising at the best with very, very small print on the details… new buyers beware as won’t be a selling point when reselling your home!

The customer service leaves much to be desired.
If you need to fix a window and have a warranty, they will act like you are not important to them whatsoever.
They told us at the last minute that they would be here from 7 am to 9 am and were inflexible about the time even though we had scheduled the visit for about 6 weeks.
God help you if you need to fix a front window that you may feel unsafe leaving damaged. They will schedule your repair 6 weeks out.
In the mean time, you will probably need to get it fixed yourself.
Which will work out wonderfully for them.

I purchased a house with the Milgard windows. My sliding door had condensation, thus I called as it states on the website that their windows have lifetime warrantees. The person that answered stated «Warrantee is ONLY LIFETIME if YOU purchased the windows». I told her that this doesn’t sound like the advertised Lifetime Warrantee they advertised. So consider your windows unwarranteed once you move out!

ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE AND PRODUCTS! STAY FAR AWAY.
Initial installation of sliding doors was horrible. Doors wouldn’t lock properly and they were out of sync. Took another 3 months of back and forth to get another appointment for them to come check it. It was scheduled for Monday, but they called the week before saying that they’d be coming on Friday. They just acted like I’d requested the Friday appointment! I asked to speak to the same customer service rep who had made the appointment (Damien). He was so rude and just pretended like I had asked for the Friday appointment. So I had to change my plans to accommodate the Friday appointment. When they finally showed up, they had brought the wrong size door! So they had to spend another hour trying to arrange for another one. They did such a poor job that by the time they finished the installation, the sides of the doors were all scratched and scraped! They clearly don’t care at all about their work or even doing a decent job. Absolute worst service, please save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

After trying to talk to someone from human resources regarding about the problem stated on my previous review. They were able to take responsibility and fixed my car. I was very relived afterwards, and I was contacted by them to follow up on paper work. Overall very pleased they took hands on the problem. And I would feel very comfortable to recommend and continue using their services.

I’m very surprised to see all the negative reviews. We had Milgard windows and sliding glass door installed about 10 – 12 years ago and have had the best service over that time. We have made 3 calls one for a broken lock, one for a foggy window and one for a cracked window. All 3 problems were handled in a professional manner and the Tech’s were great and even after 12yrs were covered under warranty
If I was looking to complain it does take them about 2−3weeks to make a new window and install it.
I highly recommend this brand of windows. Mine were installed by a local widow and door company.

Avoid Milgard at ALL expense. They are extremely unorganized. I have had 6 house visits, last was today and the problem is still not resoled. They brought the Wrong window AGAIN!

The problem I have with Milgard, is with their service department.
I called Milgard around August 18^th to report a problem with my screen door. The service representative informed me my screen door was no longer under warranty. The Milgard service representative stated I needed to pay them $ 150.00 before she could make a service appointment. The service representative said the $ 150.00 would be used towards the cost of the service (including labor and parts). Because this is a special disappearing sliding screen door, I thought it would best for Milgard to repair it. The service department gave me an appointment date of September 2^nd, (no time was given for the appointment). On Monday, September 1, Milgard called with the repair time for the next day.
The Milgard technician arrived on time. He looked at my screen door and said, «Next time you might want to call Phantom Screen to repair this». The technician said he would have to order some parts and someone from the Milgard’s service department would be getting back in touch with me. The technician then left. He was at my house less than five minutes.
On Friday, September 12, I called Milgard’s service department to find out the status of my repair order. I was hold approximately ten minutes before a service representative came on the line. This unknown service representative informed me, the service representative handling my case was gone for the day and she would have her call me on Monday, September 15.
I have not yet received a call from Milgard. Today, (Friday September 18,) I again called Migard’s service department to find out the status of my case. And again, I was put on hold for approximately ten minutes before someone in the service department answered the telephone. I spoke with Meghann and asked her when the parts were to be installed at my home. Meghann said the parts have not been ordered. There needed to be an estimate issued to me first. I asked her how much was the estimate. Meghann informed me, the estimate had not been done yet. Meghann said she believes the estimate might be done on this coming Saturday. She said no parts can be ordered until then.
If I ever have another problem with my (hopefully soon to be repaired) screen doors, I will take the technician’s advise and call Phantom Screen and not Milgard.

Worst customer service ever! Poor quality windows. Windows delivered w bent screen & bent corner on frame. Had to wait 6 weeks for an appt for milgard to look at damage. Day of appt milgard rescheduled. They said they would be at house between 7−9am 2 days after original appt
now 10am & they haven’t arrived… Curious if my window will ever get fixed

I recently had the windows retrofitted on my house, but one of the windows next to a door (within 2 feet) was supposed to be tempered glass, but wasn’t. The other side (fixed side) was tempered and this was a mistake by the manufacturer, Milgard.
I called my installer and they contacted Milgard, then Milgard contacted me. After the first call and message wasn’t returned (The voicemail was fuzzy), the Milgard customer service woman called again. This time I realized who was calling and called them back. I set an appointment for today (5÷15÷2012) for the first call of the day.
Ramon arrived at my house around 7:45am (driving from Simi Valley) and promptly swapped the glass on my window, so the tempered glass was in the correct location. As he was working, he cleaned up after himself (Thank you!) and was done in about 30 minutes.
Overall, an excellent company and they stand behind their window warranty without any hassles. I’m a satisfied customer!
BTW, if you order 7 or more windows or doors before June 16^th, 2012, you can get a $ 20 rebate for each window. (just checked, now extended till October 12, 2012).
