This company deserves NO stars!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! You have been warned!!! I’m sure all the other reviews are true because I had a similar horrible experience with this company! They are definitely scam artists. In January 2014 I moved from California to Virginia and when they came to pick up the furniture and other items, they charged me more than what was quoted. That should of been a sign to not use this company but fortunately for them, I needed to move ASAP. When the moving truck got to the drop off location he demanded that he be paid in full before unloading and demanded to be paid in cash. I noticed that the moving truck was completely different than the one that picked up my stuff and when the movers began unloading I was mortified by what I was seeing. Every single piece of furniture was completely broken, most beyond repair. A dresser, a television stand, two night stands, and a bed frame ALL BROKEN!!! And what was worse, I had a large flat screen tv that was «lost». The driver claimed he did not know what happened. He said he was hired to pick up the stuff. There was also a very expensive mirror that was missing as well. There were eight boxes that were in really bad shape, it looked as if the boxes were torn up and re-​taped and of course all of my jewelry and electronics that were in some of the boxes were completely gone! The boxes had holes in them and were all soaked and wet. The books I had in the boxes were destroyed and had to be thrown away. I had framed pictures and paintings that were also destroyed beyond repair. I was mostly upset about the religious jewelry I had in the boxes that my husband brought back from being blessed in Jerusalem when he was on deployment and all of that jewelry was gone! Going to Jerusalem and having items blessed on Holy Land is a once in a lifetime opportunity! I’m convinced that all the missing items were stolen. I contacted the supervisor at dmi movers and a man named David was unapologetic and was completely rude. He told me to call an insurance company to file a claim and it turns out that the insurance company he had me contact wasn’t even their insurance. For months I tried to get a hold of the supervisor and he kept dodging me. He would say he would call me back and he never did. I finally got a hold of him one time and he pretended to be someone else. It is now the end of April and this issue still isn’t resolved and dmi movers is not trying to make this problem right. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they ignored them too. So I paid thousands of dollars to have my furniture and personal belongings destroyed and the most expensive items stolen. I later found out from their actual insurance (progressive) that this company hires other low budget truckers to do their long distance moves for them so you don’t know how many strangers are touching your things or how many different trucks your things are going in OR OUT of. I tried to file a claim with their insurance but was unable to due to the fact that they had hired an outside trucker (BME Trucking) to move my things. And BME trucking assumes no responsibility because the Bill of Lading is under Dmi movers. This whole experience has been a nightmare! I wish I would have read these reviews before I hired this company to do my move. To this day, I still cannot get a hold of the supervisor and they have not given me any explanation as to what happened to my belongings. I have no idea how this company is still in business! They seriously need to be shut down! They are thieves and criminals! Please DO NOT give this company your money and don’t let them damage and steal your precious possessions!

This company should not be in business. They suck. The movers were assholes, the dispatch managers are rude as hell, and they charged me for unnecessary stuff. I moved with them because they had n opening for last minute reservations… no wonder why.
They showed up late and broke half of my things, which are antiques!
I’m currently filing a claim. Look them up on scam reports, I’m not the first and probably won’t be the last!
Furthermore they threw everything haphazardly into boxes like a fussy child who is reluctantly cleaning his room.
What peeves me most is the crappy attitudes of the movers and managers. They treated me like a nuisance.
Total scam.

These movers are horrible. First of all my items were supposed to arrive on Nov 8^th, they didn’t show up until the 15^th. I had a truck driver named Haggy (spelling is probably wrong but it’s pronounced Hajji). He was so lazy. He did not screw on the support racks under my bed. He just left the screws there. Check the picture I uploaded. If I didn’t notice it that night I’m sure the bed would have snapped.
He also kept banging my expensive furniture around. I had a table the movers unscrewed when they were initially bringing it to me and this guy couldn’t figure out what to do to put it back together, so at that point I was just like just forget it I will do it.
He left all these boxes and plastic in the apartment bldg because he said it’s not in his contract to take out the trash. Oh ok so you just made a mess and now I’m supposed to clean it up after I paid $ 2,300 to your company to move a 1 bdrm apartment. Lazy ass. Quality sucks. I only chose this company cuz I thought I’d have my items by the 8^th, wrong.
Terrible customer service! Terrible.
Please don’t waste your money like I did. Next time I’m going with Mayflower they are professional.

Stay away from this company. They are fraud and thieves. They charged me $ 2000 extra for the job they didn’t do. 3 of my boxes lost. And they are not responding to my complains.. Drivers are lire and thieves.
I am taking this company to court for fruad and stilling and over charging customers. .

Do not use this company! I had a horrible experience. My belongings were passed between 4 trucks and when they arrived I was given stuff that didn’t belong to me. I was told my items were routed incorrectly– from LA to Montana (I am not sure they knew where Oregon was) then the truck broke down, then transferred to a trucking company that took them to Seattle, then I was told they were transferred to a company who didn’t know who I was or where my stuff was-​wrong company, then the final company who delivered my stuff, to my storage, they unloaded items that were not mine and then asked me if I was sure. (I guess I could have kept that exercise machine and brand new oak table)
I too am missing a couple of boxes of clothing and odds and ends, but after being yelled at and talked down to– yes, literally yelled at and given ultimatums– by Jonathan, the supervisor, then avoided thereafter I have little hope of ever seeing my stuff again or being recompensed.
Oh yea! Every single piece of my furniture was damaged in some way– broken dresser legs– torn off, rips in a rand new leather couch, smashed lampshades that were bubble wrapped and boxed, etc… I discovered all of this when I finally got an apartment and moved my stuff from storage to my new place.
The BBB has been informed and my case documented– feel free to check it out on their website, but they avoided them too. This was such a nightmare… Please do not use this company unless you want to be overcharged (trumped up charges for services and materials never rendered) robbed of your belongings (Someone between LA-​Montana-​Seattle-​Portland is enjoying my bathing suits, shoes, dresses and exercise equipment) and lied to by the contract truckers and employees (or yelled at and belittled by management), then by all means this is the company for you. Me thinks not!

I was moving cross country seeking a good deal. I had less than a one bedroom to move. Not even a bed! Just a few bookcases, a computer, dishes, collectables, and books. I listed all of these things on their website and got a quote of 1100 bucks. Not too bad. When I spoke to their representative she seemed very nice and informative. I had to handle all of this away from home while in training out-​of-​state. She said I had to pay 50% down with my credit card, then 50% when my stuff was delivered either in cash or money order. I thought this was a little strange since they had no problem taking my credit card at first.
The day of the move, they arrived and everything changed. All of a sudden what was quoted to me as $ 1100 went up 100% due to weight. This is how they get you in the door at first: Even though they have been moving for years and they probably have a good idea how much things weigh, in order to get you IN, they low ball your quote. So, I instead was paying over $ 2200! I almost cancelled the move entirely, but remembered that I had collectables that were probably worth about that much alone. So, I followed through with it.
They gave me an estimated delivery date of June 1 – 2. However, the movers called me five days earlier saying they were in town and ready to drop off. I didn’t even have my apartment yet! I told them that I wasn’t them expecting them so soon and they said they would call their boss in California to see what to do and get back to me. They never did. Instead, I found out they by-​passed my city and went on to make other stops further north into New England.
I called to get an update on their delivery on May 31^st and again on June 1^st. Each time I was told that they would contact the movers to get an update and call me back. They never did. I work as a flight attendant and wanted to be there when they delivered. I called once more on June 3^rd and got no response back. Finally, the next day, they called saying they were on their way and would be to my new place either the next day or the morning after. They were getting some bad info that my street could not accommodate their 18 wheeler so they were planning on renting a smaller truck and charging it to me. I informed them they I lived right on the edge of an industrial neighborhood and 18 wheelers are moving back and forth throughout the day. They didn’t seem to believe me, but said they would wait and see until delivery day.
Four days late, they arrive in my city to deliver my stuff. They called me and said they were stuck in the city streets and had no idea how to get to my place safely. I told them that I would meet them at the truck and guide them to my place. I have no car, so I walked two miles to get to them. I easily managed to guide them to my place alone wide streets all the way to my front door. They kept insisting that if the drop off was a «long walk» they’d have to charge me extra for it. I assured them that my front door opened right up onto the street on the ground floor.
I had three CVS money orders for them worth over $ 1100 bucks. They were told by their boss that I needed to have Postal Money Orders, as was written in the contract (in fine print!). I informed him that my initial contact never informed me of this. I was told that I needed to cash them out and bring them cash or else they would put my stuff in storage and charge me for it. Needless to say, money orders don’t work that way. If they knew enough to ask for Postal Money Orders then they should have known that all money orders are as good as cash and cannot be redeemed for cash by the purchaser.
When their boss in California refused to take my money orders, I told him I would have to take him to Small Claims Court. He said for that «rude» comment, he would definitely put my stuff in storage and charge me for it. I told him I was going to call the police, which I did. After trying to call several local police precincts, I was informed to call 911 since this was considered «theft», so I did. By the time I got off the phone with 911, the boss called back and decided that my money orders were as good as cash or Postal Money Orders and elected to take them.
I have NEVER had a more stressful move in my life. I would have saved money renting my own one way truck and hiring a friend of mine to move my stuff for me. With the truck, insurance, gas, hotel, and meal costs, it would have been cheaper. PLEASE DO NOT use DMI movers!

The lady I spoke to, to take my information was great and assured me several times I was within weight. They came in at the best estimate and was warned by other companies they would charge more in the end. Well they were right. The guy who picked up was, from the moment he got there rude, pushy and INSULTING!
I could right a book but I wont, this has taken to much of my time already.
In a nut shell: overcharged, rude, damaged goods, no call backs from manager.
NEVER EVER WOULD I RECOMMEND THEM TO MY WORSE ENEMY!!!

We hired DMI movers to assist us in our move from CA to MI. There were ⁵⁄₆ men that arrived in the morning in what appeared to be a 16′ moving truck, clearly not big enough to move our garage full of boxes. The men were friendly and helpful, even turning in money they had found underneath the bed after they had moved it. They soon realized there wouldn’t be enough room to close the trucks back door, & began getting sloppy and rough with our items. Finally around midnight they had everything moved and packed into the truck so tightly they had to strap furniture hanging out of the back of the truck because they couldn’t close the loading door. They left soda bottles, moving debris including plastic wrap, tape and moving cloths littered all over the house in piles, spreading across the front yard into the street, and even spilling into the neighbors front yard. They left about 9 rolls of tape that weren’t fully used, and 1 brand new roll of tape, which we were charged for. We had large/​expensive items boxed properly for moving, which they took it upon themselves to re-​box, increasing the number of boxes we were charged for. A week later the delivery truck showed up, in a much larger truck than what was originally packed in CA. It was a semi-​truck pulling a trailer, with 2 other customers items mixed in with ours, identified by colored tag numbers. This time there were only two men, a driver named Shawn and local temporary mover. As we went out to greet the driver, without introducing himself or his partner, he demanded a $ 3,000 blank check or blank money order, and if we did not comply he threatened to turn the truck around and drive our items back to CA. After 30 minutes of us trying to contact his boss, the driver sat in his truck, they finally settled that our charges were already paid in full. The drivers’ poor attitude continued as they began unloading and unwrapping our furniture, and it immediately became clear at least half of our items were damaged or completely broken. A file box with important legal and tax documents was flooded with motor oil and coolant. When we asked the driver what had happened to the important documents, his response was «I don’t know, it’s your stuff.» After ¾ calls complaining to the receptionists of his aggressive and rude attitude, it slightly improved. The boxes Shawn unloaded were sloppily thrown into the garage, spilling out into the driveway. His suggestion was to leave the boxes overnight until we could unpack them. We had prepaid to have our baby grand piano moved, which the delivery driver was not notified of, but assured us it would be moved at the companies expense. Finally as the movers came to the end of what was to be delivered, there were several items that belonged to other customers but were almost left with us. Due to the shortage of help they were here for at least 12 hours unloading and sorting through our items. 2 months after everything had been unpacked and documented, we filed a complaint and a claim complete with a full list of damaged and broken items, our personal concerns, and photo proof of damage. We spoke to several receptionists until we were put in to contact with the ‘supervisor’ Jonathan. He was immediately unresponsive, evasive, and shady. We emailed and called numerous times seeking reimbursement for our damages, and after no further information or help from him, we asked to speak to his supervisor or owner. He evaded and ignored each request, and to this day we have not spoken to anyone above Jonathan. He promised to file an insurance claim and to hire piano movers to move our baby grand piano. He contacted local piano movers, which the payment info he provided did not go through. My piano sat in the garage on its side in 30 degree weather for a month until we took it upon ourselves to hire movers at our expense, totaling $ 900. After a month of being put off and our requests ignored, my daughter posted a negative review on Unilocal!regarding the treatment of items, the delivery driver, and the supervisor Jonathan. It didn’t take long for Jonathan to come across the review and personally called my daughter to discuss it. He attempted to negotiate with her and after she refused to take down the review, he threatened if she did not take the review down he was not going to help or reimburse us in any way. The review was never taken down, and three months later we have received no proof a claim has been submitted, no reimbursement, and have rarely been in contact with Jonathan. He argues we have not sent enough proof to support the need for an insurance claim, and has offered a $ 900.00 check as settlement, which would only cover the price for the piano movers. We denied the offer and are in the process of suing the company. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT hire this moving company. Your items will be delivered in pieces, and they will stall any type of reimbursement or settlement until the 6 months have passed so you cannot file a claim.
