Chuy’s Mesquite Broiler — Simi Valley East is located on the east end of Simi Valley, in the shadow of the beautiful Santa Susana Grade, and has long been a favorite hangout of area families and friends. Chuy’s Mesquite Broiler is famous for its friendly bartenders and servers who provide quick service. Our menu consists of charbroiled tri-​tip and chicken plates, shrimp and Tex-​Mex favorites.

Chuy’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, has video games for the kids, large portions on all meals, a salsa bar, a full bar and fantastic happy hour prices on both food and drinks, including our famous Five Star Margarita. The large kitchen is ideal for catering, which has made Chuy’s catering service in high demand.

From Monday Night Football to every NFL game every Sunday on flat screen TVs, Chuy’s is definitely the place to be for all your favorite sporting events. We offer an outdoor patio, which makes a great place for a cold drink on a nice warm day.

History

Established in 1978.

First opened by business partners Doug Duimovich and Mark Evenson, the restaurant was a big hit serving soon to become customer favorites like mesquite broiled tri-​tip and chicken dinners. The restaurant was founded on great prices and large meals and continues that policy even today.

Both of the original founders of this great family establishment worked very hard to make the restaurant different than other places. They made it into the truly unique restaurant it is today.

I love this place! I live nearby and sometimes get take out, and one time i came in just before close to pick up some food and they gave me some chips and salsa on the house, and changed my order for no charge when they realized they were out of the meat for the sandwich that i ordered.

We are from out of town the help never even acknowledged us when we walked in. We had to get our own menus the food was flavorless the people were unfriendly. I would not recommend.

This place should be embarrassed about the women they staff at this location. When we arrived we stood in line to place our order. Breanna was behind the bar and walked up to the customers in front of us and began taking their order and then started bashing on the morning shift for not preparing for the late shift employees. Bashing on her coworkers like its the cool thing to do. She was rude and unpleasant to everyone I watched her encounter. Here we are up next to place our drink and food order. When I asked for a margarita she proceeded to tell me what they were out of margarita mix and she was not going to make anymore. I used to work for the west end chuys and I couldn’t imagine have told a paying customer with an attitude that I wouldn’t make them something. Our friends we were meeting there walked up five minutes later and they magically had made more margarita mix and made him a margarita. I literally mean five minutes later. I couldn’t believe the sheer rudeness of this woman. We won’t be back until they address her poor customer service skills. You lost our business and we went to TGIF instead.

I came here 3 weeks ago late Saturday. Grilled tmagi mahi tacos and service where good. I’ve been craving the mahi mahi tacos so I decided to come here for dinner with my family. What a let down
Place was super busy. Tables where dirty. We had to clean our own table. I had to go to the bar to order food and drinks. It seems like they’re short staffed. Kitchen only has 1 cook and 2 bartenders/​servers?!?
Won’t be coming back! Too bad.

Had my son run to get us a quick take-​out order. Food was ready but when I opened the bag there was no receipt. Then my spicy shrimp had a sliver of bamboo stick in it! I have stayed away from this location due to the uneven food quality and the last time I was there the cook was putting skewers in his mouth on the line… GROSS!!! Not going back…

Recent reviews had me hesitate, but I’m glad I tried. Food was good, not great. Tri tip nachos was huge and tasty. Pork burrito and shrimp tacos are good but a bit over seasoned. My biggest irk was that none of our tortillas seemed to be warmed, so were quite hard. Service was friendly and ambiance was unique and kept us busy checking out the décor. The crowd was biker-​ish, but not at all intimidating.

Have been going here for several years! Sad to say it has only gone down hill. The food is less than average! They like to call it a family restaurant which it’s far from! The mens bathroom hasn’t been cleaned in who knows how long? Scared to even touch anything in the restroom. Every other word from its customers is a curse word! DO NOT BRINGS KIDS it is not kid friendly. Remember it’s a bar that serves food not a family restaurant. I wouldn’t even let my son use their bathroom it was that bad! To boot MOST of the female servers are rude and on some power trip.

Being a surfer growing up in Simi Valley, I have always loved this place for its simple yet great tasting tacoes and Mex food, chips, salsa and music! You can’t help leaving but feeling, full, satistfied and happy! A great hang out to eat at for lunch or dinner!

Great outdoor area for people to drink, eat, and watch from two HDTVs set up outside.
Proper selection of booze and special drinks. Simple but super delicious food!
The bartenders, servers, and the cook staff are super awesome! Always fast, delicious, timely, chattive, and attentive!

Worst kept place ever. They charge more for a picture of beer than anyone!!! It is terrible to come home and see you could have gone to outback and paid less. 15.00 a pitcher now, ARE YOU KINDING me. Tables are not clean, chairs are dirty. My entire family will not go there anymore.
Trust me… DO not go. You will regret it. Go to Anywhere else.

The breakfast burritos are amazing. I am lactose intolerant and don’t have all the cheese and sour cream to disguise the taste. They were careful to not add any cheese, a problem I have had at other restaurants. The food was fresh, hot, and the serving was large. We ordered pick –up for 5 people and there were no complaints! Yum!!!

Over the years I’ve really enjoyed the food/​drinks at this Chuy’s and at the other Ventura county locations. More recently the food/​service/​atmosphere seem to be eroding and my desire to eat here have dissipated.
The food has gone down in quality and in taste. The chicken nachos used to be my go to menu option but even that meal has come out either bland or sloppily put together. Prices have also gradually risen to the point where I would rather go else where. The crowds as Chuy’s have also become more and more «suspect» over recent months. The ladies we go out with refuse to even consider Chuy’s as an option even if it’s for cheap pre-​departure drinks because of how uncomfortable they feel.
For a variety of reasons including price, food quality, and service I’ll probably be going to Cronies for my sports bar needs. The few perks of going to Chuy’s are long gone and now so is my business.
