Pulse Community Care

Jackie at Pulse Community Care has helped solve physical issues that no one else has been able to pinpoint. I am grateful for her calm and positive countenance, and for the wisdom that she brings into the exam room.
I was a doubter, of course I was. How could I not be, raised as I was with the shining example of «Western» medicine that we are all taught to believe is the best path towards health. At the same time, I prefer to keep myself open to new knowledge and new possibilities, and so when my son’s growing pains had not been calmed after three years of visits to a variety of doctor’s offices, we decided to see what might be down a different path.
I say we, but mean I decided. My boy is not fond of needles, so we paid a visit to Pulse so that he could ask questions and judge the idea for himself. Jackie took all the time he needed in order to feel comfortable and we made an appointment for a few days later. He wasn’t completely won over, but was willing to give it one try. I was invited into the room so that I could see the process and ask questions.
Jackie again took her time. She listened to his pulse and asked him questions about his diet, exercise, and aches. She suggested both cupping and acupuncture and waited until he was ready she brought out the cups and the needles and went to work. She explained each step, listened to him when he mentioned discomfort, and fixed the placement on anything that did not hit him just right. By the end of the hour we both trusted her completely, and had a much better understanding of the process. We thanked her, set the next appointment, and went home.
That night, my boy slept better than he has in years. The next morning he woke refreshed and filled with positive energy. He then spent the next few days nearly free from the aches and nausea that have been his constant companions as his body achieves its adult form. He was actually excited to return for the second visit!
I can see an amazing difference in my boy’s physical condition. I can also see a difference in his overall happiness. It makes sense to me, as the physical has a direct effect on the emotional state. I am happy that my son will be a regular visitor to Pulse Community Care.

These ladies are fantastic! Not only is my sciatica gone after the acupuncture but they are super nice and genuinely care!

Excellent Acupuncture Treatment!
I had injured my ankle yet again and could not immediately see my podiatrist. He usually just gives me a brace and says to stay off my feet as much as possible. So, I decided to look for another solution and acupuncture came to mind.
I did a quick Internet search for somewhere in Silver Spring and came across this facility which is so close to my home — so convenient. Moreover, I was impressed by the reviews.
Well the reviews were accurate! Jackie the acupuncturist took my pulses and carefully examined my ankle and went to work. I can’t say I love feeling like a pin cushion but Jackie was most attentive to making me as comfortable as possible. My ankle felt better after every treatment. I have had a total of 5 treatments and will have a final one next week. My ankle feels so much better!
Jackie answer all my questions during treatment and was most attentive and friendly. The facility is quiet, comfortable, and serene and Jackie offers many convenient hours that accommodated my schedule — especially late in the day and weekend hours.

I almost hesitate to write this because it’s April Fool’s Day and I don’t want you to think this is a joke: I. Feel. AMAZING.
My neck hasn’t felt so unhinged in a long time. I think it really helped that you put the needles in a little deeper than you might try with other clients. Everything feels like butter.

I’m prone to horrible allergies and sinus infections and Pulse provided amazing relief! The clinicians are patient, kind, and effective; their needling techniques and tinctures produce results; and the environment is is both modern and relaxing. Altogether a great experience.

I have been getting some extremely wonderful healing from the very wise, funny, and kind Jackie and Janaye over the past couple of months and it just keeps getting better and better! I keep getting better, is what I am trying to say :-) I have always benefited a lot from acupuncture and have been in some prettttty dire need for it since moving to Takoma Park this year from San Francisco. Big move, new job, so much change, actual seasons meant a ton of stress and anxiety for me, and Jackie (I mostly have been treated by) has helped so much with the emotional roller coaster, needling all the right points to even things out. She has also helped with the many physical problems I have been suddenly attacked with, including lots of lower back pain, plantar fasciitis, eye strain, headaches — who can even keep track… I fell apart and Pulse has been putting me back together with acupuncture, moxa, cupping… all the good stuff. The location is very convenient — easily accessible via public transit and there is parking and an amazing Thai Market next door with Thai groceries and food. And they take my health insurance! Everything about it is excellent and I am so happy to go there (and looking forward to checking out the upcoming yoga classes and meditation and other very restorative healing events!). Go. You will be so glad you did.

The most professional, attuned and attentive care you can wish to receive, in fair rates. An added value is their community orientation and wish to make a difference around them. which is also important to me.

I was in so much pain from headache and nausea that I took a day off work. Nothing was helping, and I was desperate. A friend suggested Pulse, so I called, and they were able to take me for a community acupuncture treatment that day. They actually offered two times, but I took the sooner one, which was less than two hours from the call. The treatment was AMAZING. I left feeling barely any pain and the nausea was gone. I have had acupuncture plenty of times before with varying levels of success (always beneficial, but sometimes more so than others) and this was the most significant, concrete success yet. I will definitely be going back for community acupuncture, and when I can afford it I will also do private sessions.

I first met Jackie and Janaye at the April DC Rollergirls bout. While I was really skeptical about acupuncture, you know the whole human pin cushion thing, I was in a ton of pain from an ankle sprain so I figured I would try anything.
OMG! relief. I have been back to Jackie on a weekly basis since. Which speaks volumes because I live in Springfield, VA. Not only has she been able to work with me on my pain management of my ankle. But has also been working with me on some energy and stress issues I was having. Which I was also skeptical about but have been more than pleasantly surprised by the results.
Jackie is very patient with me and answers my questions. With this being my first time doing anything outside of western medicine, I have a TON of questions.
I would sincerely suggest giving them a try, or at least visiting them at one of their community acupuncture events to see what they are about.

I met Jackie and Janaye at the DC Rollergirls bout a couple of months ago. I was recently sidelined with a knee injury — sprained meniscus and strained MCL. I was in some pain. I’ve never had acupuncture before and was ready to try anything to help alleviate the stiffness and pain that regular medicine wasn’t helping.
Jackie was so patient, answering a ton of questions with calm resolve. I don’t know how she was able to be so calming at a derby bout :)
The pin pricks were so minimal I could hardly tell they were in. But, I could sure feel the pressure moving away from my knee after that treatment. It was only a 15 minute treatment, but it did wonders, bringing my pain down from an ⁷⁄₈ to a manageable ²⁄₃.
I have Kaiser, and I want to nominate her facility so I can go in for weekly treatments as well.

I woke up on a Monday morning unable to move my neck. Jackie was able to see me that same day. I had a private appointment and it was so worth it. She took her time to learn about my health history and after the acupuncture treatment I felt amazing. I could move my neck just fine and my pain went from an 8 to a 3 on a scale of 1 – 10 (10 being the worse possible). I felt happy for days after, which was certainly a bonus. I also saw Janaye for a follow up community treatment, which was wonderful too. Highly recommend this practice!
