Kuhn’s Tree Service

Had 2 cords of wood delivered and the wood was great, it was 2 cords, and the delivery guy was very nice. I will be using them again!

I had Kuhn’s Tree Service come out to give me an estimate for removing a large (100 ft. plus) tree from my yard and have the stump ground. I also had 3 other reputable tree companies come out and give estimates as well. I decided to proceed with Kuhn’s as they were the lowest bid, and in one case was 80% lower than another company.
They were very responsive and easy to reach about getting the job scheduled and followed up diligently with the arrangements and coordinating the job. They showed up on time the day that they were scheduled to begin and worked professionally to complete the work. Once the tree was completely down, they informed me that they would be back the next morning to remove the larger pieces. First thing the next morning, they showed up as promised and removed all of the wood. They completed the entire job in the time frame that they promised and did a great job removing the tree.
I don’t always go with a company based on price, but I’m glad that i did in this case as not only were the by far the most reasonably priced, but they completed the job with excellent customer service that i’m sure even the most expensive company wouldn’t have rivaled.
I will certainly use Kuhn’s Tree Service again and recommend them as well.

Fast, cut hardwood delivered!!!
Called on Friday had wood by a Monday. Really good hardwood also, not the cheaper kind of wood some places sell.

We hired Kuhn’s tree service to remove huge oak in the backyard with branches over the house.
All was done promptly, professionally, at reasonable price. The representative Sean seems knowledgeable, honest in his description of the work. They took care to keep lawn minimally effected by the work.
We highly recommend Kuhn’s tree services.

i’ve had to have 1 disease tree cut down and several trimmed. kuhn’s is the best in the biz. solid crew with reasonable prices. sean the arborist is very knowledgable about anything with leaves. thanks, kuhn’s, for giving life to my very old trees.

Michael Buchanan was extremely honest and fair in his estimate, and the work was completed over a week early. I would have given this 5 stars if the «foreman» on the job hadn’t been so rude. Overall, I would use again.

We called Kuhn’s to remove a huge tree in our backyard and they were able to come out a week later. The tree was pretty close to the house which made us nervous how easily something could go wrong. Kuhn’s suggested using a crane to help the process be problem free. With an 8 man crew, the tree was removed and lifted out within 3 hours. No damage was done during the removal and to top it off, their price was the best around :) I would highly recommend Kuhn’s to anyone looking for an affordable tree service that’s trust worthy.

This is my second time using Kuhn’s Tree Service for a large job and could not be any more pleased with the experience. Their staff is extremely helpful and accommodating and they do fantastic work. They also do a fantastic job caring for the property and making sure everything is clean when they leave. They have very competitive prices and I have and will continue to use them and refer them in the future.

I called on them for a cord of wood. The wood wasn’t any good.
I complained and they responded promptly and provided quality costumer service by correcting the mistake with another ¾ cord of quality wood.

This review concerns firewood purchase only.
Ordered 2 cords of firewood, delivered and dumped. After stacking, I’d say I got between 1−¼ and 1−3÷8 cord of unseasoned wood. Doesn’t burn in a well-​drawing wood stove. I hate to pay for kiln-​dried firewood, but for what I paid for this load, at least I’d have one cord of good firewood. After 28 years in PG County, I’m still searching for a good firewood dealer.
After originally writing this review, Kuhn’s did offer me an additional «free» cord of better seasoned firewood, but I’m not interested in taking a day off to wait for more green firewood. If they do have better dried firewood, I’m wondering why they didn’tt deliver that to cash-​paying customers. The first half of firewood is fire, and if if won’t burn, its not firewood. During the original delivery, their driver mentioned making several ¼-​cord deliveries before me. I don’t know who would pay for delivery of such small amounts of wood, but apparently they didn’t take those into account when loading the truck originally.
Kuhn’s needs to put effort into getting things right the first time.

I had a very pleasant experience with Kuhns. I hired Kuhns to take down a number of trees and trim others. I had numerous bids and Kuhns’s pricing was the most competitive. The crew showed up precisely on time and was very professional. They did a great job.
I also communicated on numerous occasions with Carrie via E-​mail and phone. She was very responsive and exceptionally polite and helpful.

After dealing with Carrie via e mail I will not be using this company, Kuhn’s Tree Service. We exchanged emails about the delivery of wood chips. I found her rude and dismissive, so if that is what the office is like I can’t imagine the tree service is much better. Beware and read the reviews!

Bought a ½ cord of «seasoned» firewood.
It is far from seasoned, doesn’t burn, they’re a ripoff.
Shop elsewhere.
UPDATE:
After my complaint, they promptly sent over another ¼ cord of better-​seasoned wood, enough to last me through the remainder of the cold weather, and I am therefore upgrading my rating.

Regret using this company. Never again and would not reccommend.

based on a good review, i hired this company. they came out to take down an old cherry tree. it had rained for days. a large truck was driven onto the property leaving many deep grooves in my lawn. and the fence was inadvertently torn and partially ripped down. when they came out to repair damages they filled in the gouges in my lawn w/​gravel and bent the fence up a bit. its still a mess. never again!

I had several jobs performed by Kuhn’s Tree Service. Tree removal and stump grinding. They were wonderful to deal with. Professional, timely, and careful. One of the stumps they had to remove was very close to our sprinkler system lines. They removed the stump without damaging our system. I will call them for all of my future tree issues.

When one says «darling my darling, could we please buy a house with trees? Lots of them! Big ones! I love trees, don’t you?»…you really DO deserve what you get.
What you get is a $ 2000 bill, 7 calls to the tree guys, 3 visits from the tree guys, 2 hours disputing the bill, 3 calls to your credit card company, and a bunch of logs (and a pile of sawdust) sitting in your front yard… which results in a fine from your HOA (the irony is that we were doing all this tree trimming to PREVENT a HOA citation).
Are you ready? Try to follow along, because I can only do this once.
Several months ago, we bought a lovely house. One that is surrounded by 6 large trees that were severely overgrown. As summer waxed, the trees became more and more unruly, and there was one particular tree that was splitting, causing us to worry that it may fall on a neighbor’s car.
So we called several tree places… once of which was Kuhn’s Tree Service. The guy that came out to give our estimate was very knowledgeable, talked us through his assessment on the health of the trees, and we agreed to the following: 1 tree to be cut down completely and the stump grounded up, 2 trees to be cabled so that they could be saved, and all 5 trees to be pruned and trimmed. All for the price of $ 2000 (other tree places were charging around the same, but it didn’t include cutting down the one tree — so Kuhn’s was the best priced option).
I called to make an appointment and the lovely lady told me to sign the estimate form and to fax it into her, and she’ll try to get scheduled for Tuesday. Of course, I make this call at work while heading into a meeting, so I forgot that I had to fax in the form… until Tuesday, when my husband (who was just running home at lunch to grab something), noticed that the tree guys were there, pruning away!
While unexpected (I hadn’t sent in the signed estimate, saying that I was accepting the charges and the work), I was still pleased. Heh, until my husband reads this review — he’ll never know that I dropped the ball on this (um, sorry hunny!).
At the end of the day — they finished pruning 4 of the trees, and cut down the 1 tree — but the cabling nor the stump grinding was completed. Next day they finished the pruning, and the cabling, but the stump remained ungrounded. They would be back the next day they promised us… but alas, never showed.
Three days later, we call Kuhn’s and they promised to get the tree stumper out the next day.
The next day, no stumping. We called Kuhn’s again. They said something about being overbooked but that the stump guys would be out next week. At this point, my husband gets worried. We had already paid in full, and there really was no leverage that we had to get them back out here to finish the job. After 2 more calls and much arguing, my husband got them to agree to refund half of the payment until the stump is ground. At which point, then we will repay that money. Sounds complicated right? Yeah… you hadn’t heard anything yet!
After 4 days of no refund and no stump grinding (at this point the story is that the stumper broke and it would take a week before they got the part in), I began the lovely process of calling my credit card to get half of the charges reversed. While I love my credit card company… it did take 3 very painful calls before that straightened out… only to find out that the day that my credit card company reversed the charges… was the day that Kuhn refunded half of my payment. Of course.
Which resulted in a call from Kuhn — which I got quickly straightened out (again, the lady was VERY nice and very professional… she is the reason why Kuhn is getting 3 stars and not 2), and a promise that they would send out the tree stumper the VERY NEXT DAY.
Did I see a ground tree stump when I got home? NOPE!
Another call we FINALLY get the tree stumper out that weekend.
Which resulted in a big hole filled with sawdust… and the lovely citiation from our HOA.
The moral of the story?
NEVER BUY A HOUSE WITH 6 LARGE OVER GROWN TREES.
However, if you should, only pay up front and the other half after the job is down. And while you’re at it — think long and hard about how badly you want your stump ground (yeah, still have no idea what the hell that is… I just see a big hole filled with logs and sawdust… and a citiation from our HOA).

Bad News with a chain saw
Hired them to clean up some of our trees, take out dead wood etc. They absolutely butchered our 60+ year old flowering cherry tree. They offered to come out and meet with us, but stood us up 3 times! Unbelievable!
This «trimming» is a barbaric act, that, sadly, can’t be undone.
