Tim Whistler Plumbing and Gas Fitting

I honestly can’t say enough positive things about the work Tim and his colleague Frank performed within our condo. What was supposed to be a relatively simple patching of a leaky pipe and a hot water heater replacement became a job which took hours longer than expected, required them to run all over the DMV for additional parts and contorting themselves within our maintenance closet in a way which couldn’t have been comfortable. Though it all they were lighthearted, jovial, quick to explain the issues, while pointing out solutions and potential consequences of those decisions.
If you are looking for a plumber who will be respectful, professional, knowledgeable, and does all this for a more than reasonable rate, your search needs to go no further. The only negative thing I can say is that I wish they offered more services than just plumbing and gas fitting. We could seriously use a general contractor who was a professional as Tim and Frank!

Really impressed with Tim. His professionalism and care shines through everything he does. We had an areaway drain that backed up into the basement and meant that the main sewer line was clogged. He actually squeezed us in late that night (after 7 pm) which was very much appreciated. In addition to clearing the line, through the videos and pictures he took, he realized that the roots were clogging the drain within the WSSC line and called WSSC to commit the drain for us. Definitely have found our go-​to plumber

Tim’s actually here right now, but I’m so pumped about how things have gone so far that I’m reviewing early. If I don’t update, you can assume everything went swimmingly! We needed our new gas dryer hooked up and our old one disconnected. Yesterday I called about 8 well-​reviewed plumbers in the area, got the lowest price from Tim (by a range of about $ 50 to almost $ 150), and given all his 5-​star reviews, it was an easy decision.
Then, while most had said they couldn’t come for anywhere from a week to a few weeks, Tim was super accommodating and able to squeeze me in the next day, today, because I’m home sick (boo sick, yay dryer!). He arrived, checked out the dryer hook-​ups, confirmed he could do exactly the quoted price, and got on it. Couldn’t ask for more.

I called Tim when I was in bind – had to go out of town, had guests coming and a shower that didn’t work – and he and his team jumped in and got the job done for me.
Tim and his colleague Frank were careful, quick and knowledgeable. They explain things clearly, are committed to doing things right, and are genuinely good guys to work with. They covered a number of items on my to do list.
I won’t be calling anyone else for plumbing from now on, that’s for sure. Highly recommended.

Tim Whistler did a superb job explaining gas fireplaces and then installing the one we chose. We didn’t think we needed it but now we LOVE it and can hardly wait for cooler weather. We highly recommend him.

Tim Whistler Plumbing has a customer for life. The sewer backed up into the basement of my new home. Tim and his helper were there within two hours to repair, record, and report the sewer issue to the WSSC. They used top of the line equipment, explained everything they were doing, and charged me a fair price, especially for emergency service on a Sunday. I wish all service providers were as professional, thorough, and reliable as Tim Whistler Plumbing.

Tim Whistler is indeed «as good as it gets».
He believes and practices treating his customers as he would want to be treated if he needed a plumber.
He will be my first choice in the future when I need, or a family member or friend want my recommendation.

I’d like to echo the previous 4 reviews and highly recommend Tim Whistler. Had heard of him through the same list serve mentioned in another review, and seen his van around the neighborhood (really neat van).
We’ve had a vexing problem of a hose bib that was deteriorating and had no apparent shutoff valve inside the house. I’d asked several other plumbers about fixing it, and they’d hemmed and hawed about the difficulty in doing so. I contacted Tim through his website to ask about having a look, as well as replacing some deteriorating exterior PVC piping used to drain a sump pump. He set a date, came out, had a look, said he could take care of it, gave me a reasonable estimate and told me when he could return, which was within a week of the estimate. He arrived when he said he would, did exactly what he’d planned, and more, and did a great job.
He’s also a really nice guy, and has a demeanor that says you can really trust him and know he’ll do right by you. It’s one of those ironies where you’d rather not have any plumbing problems, but when you do you don’t mind because you know that you can call him and know he’d take care it.

I’ve used him a few times now and without going into details on each of the individual job, here’s how interactions with him have gone:
He does quality work at a reasonable price.
He is conscientious and always prompt.
He’s straightforward with his advice on any work that is under consideration.
He’s followed up when it was needed (and when he said he was going to).
That’s been my interaction with him on EVERY job.
And that earns his 5 stars!
Disclaimer: all the work that he’s done for me has been on the plumbing side, but when it comes time to switch to natural gas, I will definitely call him.

I had a broken toilet flange that I did not want to attempt to repair myself. I had narrowed my search to two plumbers near my house, the first was a larger plumbing company. When I called them, I was told that it would take a week before someone could come to my house to look at it. So, I then called Tim Whilstler. He was able to stop by my house the following day (clearly he was working on a larger project, and was able to accommodate my repair before heading home for the day). Tim was extremely professional and clearly competent. He immediately gave me a quote on the cost of the job before proceeding with the fix, and performed an excellent job. I will gladly call Tim for future plumbing needs, and I highly recommend his services!

The first time Tim came to do an estimate he called to apologize in advance for being late. He was running 8 minutes behind schedule. He has consistently that conscientious.
We’ve had him do a series of jobs in our kitchen and bathroom. He does great work and charges a fair price. His communication is proactive and thoughtful. He does what he says he will, and follows up to be sure everything worked out as expected.
Tim is someone we trust and rely on. Given the other bids I’ve gotten on jobs, that’s not so easy to find.

Tim recently handled an electric hot water heater replacement for us, did a great job and was in/​out in a few hours. He took the time to explain why I needed an expansion tank and overall was very happy with the work.
