History

Established in 1993.

From its origins as a FTD florist in Rosslyn, Virginia, Encore Décor has grown into one of the première special event decorators in the mid-​Atlantic region.

In 1993, Ken Rosen sold three businesses in the food service and wholesale/​retail floral industries to purchase Floral Affairs — an FTD florist specializing in «weekly flowers» whose customers included local hotels, office lobbies, and catering companies. After a few years, Ken began expanding the business into other event service offerings. A move to Silver Spring, Maryland in 1997 was followed by significant expansion and the renaming of the business to Encore Décor. The company continued to grow in reputation and size with major expansions in 2003, 2005, and 2009.

Over the years Encore Décor has decorated events for clients as diverse as BAE Systems, Marriott International, Boeing Corporation, Howard University, the DC Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, NASA, and the National Kidney Foundation,

With a healthy dose of entrepreneurial spirit, business savvy, and marketing acumen, Ken Rosen has grown a sleepy-​eyed traditional flower shop into today’s Encore Décor — a recognized leader among Washington and Baltimore’s competitive special events community.

As president and chief operating officer of Encore Décor, Ken spearheaded the movement positioning the company squarely within the event production arena, offering corporate and social clients a wide range of services ranging from set design and custom props to table top décor and floral design services.

Ken is a hands-​on manager of daily operations and has built the company’s solid reputation by providing superior service and product at competitive prices. Surrounded by a staff of seasoned and talented design professionals, Encore Décor is a strong regional player currently pursuing the special events industry on a national scale.
