History

Established in 1995.

AJ grew up locally and had a illustrious, award winning piano career as a child. As he grew, he advanced on each family of instruments, playing in bands and music classes. All the while, learning about performing, arranging, and making records. He graduated California Institute of the Arts with a degree in Music Composition. As a professional, AJ has toured with music groups all over the world. At 25, AJ started teaching the children of friend’s as a favor to the family. The rest is history! 20 years ago, AJ founded Creative Music Lessons — with a commitment to teaching music in a fun and vibrant creative forum. As a teacher, music composer and music producer, AJ’s approach is genuine and playful, filled with stories and humor. He instructs in all styles on Piano, Guitar, the Voice, and Music Technology /​Production. He travels to anywhere within 45 min of his Silver Spring location.

AJ has taught piano and guitar in the Maryland /​DC /​NoVa areas for over 20 years. Coming from a long and prestigious piano and guitar music career, as well as being established as a Billboard Top 5 charting popular music composer and artist producer, AJ brings a unique, current and fresh perspective to music training of all kinds — from Classical to Jazz and Popular music styles. AJ also coaches and trains vocalists, both male and female voice. In addition to the Pedagogical, AJ is expert at teaching Lead Sheet reading and interpretation, Improvisation, Composition and Arranging, Voicing, and Sound Design /​Music Technology. AJ occasionally brings aboard a Music Production student into the several high level recording studios where he creates new music for TV and major labels in the MD /​DC /​NoVa area. He has many references.
