I was very skeptical at first. I’m no fan of Indian cuisine because it never satisfied me the previous times I’ve tried Indian food.
Went here last night and I was blown away! We ordered about 5 dishes and they all tasted great! Flavorful! Service was great too, so I left with a happy belly. Will definitely be back.

Their Bhindi Masala was too spicy for me. I’m fairly accustomed to Indian food, and have been to lots of Indian restaurants. This one is twice as spicy as other restaurants. I was in half tears as I ate it. It’s possible that my taste bud was shot because of terrible cold I had then.
I liked their service, so I would give one more shot.
I wish they have paneer makhani, though. That is one dish for me to gauge the level of Indian restaurant.

We have been going to Bombay Gaylord for a couple of years now and the food is very good. Sometimes we eat at the restaurant and sometimes we order takeout, which can admittedly be variable in quality. However, when it’s good, it’s very good.
The staff is friendly, and the restaurant has a typical Indian restaurant feel to it. It is conveniently located in the center of Silver Spring, so it’s a great place to grab dinner on your way out for drinks or before seeing a movie.

Lunch Buffet was amazing! $ 10.99 for all you can eat of all of your favorite Indian dishes! Curry chicken, rice, naan bread, Tandoori Wings… Best Indian food and BEST lunch deal in Silver Spring!

My wife loves Indian food. I kind of like it sometimes so I’m probably not the best person to review this place. Nevertheless, I was very impressed with the fresh and flavorful food. It was more expensive than I had anticipated but it’s probably worth it for someone who enjoys Indian food. I’ll keep trying it though until I find a dish or dishes that I love since my parents taught me to have an open mind and an open palate :)

Bombay Gaylord sits right above the popular Quarry House Tavern. It recently underwent a renovation and we dropped by to check it out. The restaurant mostly opened up the dining space and slightly updated the décor and furniture. It was difficult to notice any significant changes.
The menu did not seem to have been changed. Prices were fair but the food lacked life and taste. It was passable but not that tasty. The samosa was served in a strange lasagna-​like fashion. The masala was too bland.
Overall, the renovations spruced up the place but did not affect what really needed to be updated — the menu.

Wanted to go to a local Indian restaurant & suddenly remembered this place from a while back. They catered to friend’s wedding reception and all I could remember was how amazing the food was! Well, they did not disappoint. Didn’t remember the names of the dishes we had, but the chick peas were spot on. Will return.

As I said in a previous post– my kids and I have been coming here for years. We stopped by last Saturday for their lunch buffet. Wow! they have completely renovated the interior of the restaurant– looks very nice– much nicer than before.
The buffet was fresh and seasoned well. Many options to satisfy our craving for Indian Food. So glad they are still in the area– If you have not been here in a while– come on back!

Went here on a Monday night and the place was empty; we were the only two customers the entire time! This was very off-​putting.
The samosas were good and they have Kingfisher, but the food was meh. Bland and boring – they didn’t even ask how spicy we wanted our food. The waiter didn’t come by very often and I generally felt unwanted as a guest.
I guess I’ll try this place again. I lived in India so I crave Indian food a lot, but there are better restaurants that hit the spot that are more authentic to boot.

I am no food critic so I’m not going to pretend like I know how to professionally critique food (no offense, but most Unilocal-​ers seem to think they are also a professional critic)
I have gone here a couple of times. Being new to the area, my boyfriend took me here. The food was pretty good! I like Indian food because I feel like they have a lot of vegetarian options, and I like spicy food! The atmosphere was pretty nice but I have gone to better places in the area. All in all, I’d say give them a try! Good for prior to seeing a movie or prior to hitting some of the bars in the downtown silver spring area!

Went here for lunch last weekend. It was an okay place. Started off with samosa chaat which was good. Wife ordered saag paneer which she liked. I ordered the butter chicken which I didn’t like so much. Like other reviews have said, it was very sweet tasting. I also didn’t like the quality of the chicken itself. Service was very friendly. Will give them another chance and will be back soon.

Had lunch here today and realized thus was the third time I’ve been in at lunch when we were one of two tables with customers. Honestly, it is a small buffet with a limited menu. Great flavors. Ok naan. Awesome rice pudding aka keer.

This restaurant is a big letdown and I’m glad I don’t live near it.
Vegetable pakoras appetizer was bland and very oily, the vegetable main dishes we ordered were lacking in flavor and spice. Actually, the waiter didn’t bother to ask how spicy we wanted our dishes to be. Small portions on the main dishes… and for $ 11-​$ 12? Rice was on the oily side, too.
Not coming back.

I got the chicken tikka which was delicious and came out on a sizzling platter. My friend got the chicken tikka masala which was really good. I agree with other reviewers it was on the sweet side but still really good. They didn’t ask us what spice level we wanted so if you want to choose I think you have to ask specifically. The rice, garlic naan and vegetable samosas were all delicious. Service was fast.

Generally terrible. No spices to speak of. Waiter didn’t ask how spiced we’d like our meals.
The Dal Makhani was bland.
The Aloo Gobi was one texture: mush. Its cauliflower tasted off somehow… a little slimy.
Redeemed somewhat by a decent vegetable samosa.
I can’t remember the last time I was so disappointed by an Indian restaurant.

I really like this place — especially their tender, juicy, flavorful Tandoori Chicken. I get it pretty often and usually ask for extra onions. That drizzled with some lemon juice and some naan is one of my favorite simple, quick but oh so good dinners when I’m home and not in the mood to cook.
I love their lunch buffet special. G is a huge fan of their samosas and their Alu Mater. Quite often they are on the list of places to go eat.

You know when you go to an «ethnic» restaurant and it tastes like what they think you (an American) will like? Yuuuuuuuuuup, that’s this place.
I generally think it’s pretty hard to screw up Indian food. You’ve got the staple tikka masala and lamb makhani that everybody serves and it’s generally good stuff.
That’s all I was looking for from this place, being that it’s the closest Indian place to our house. But they even figured out how to screw up tikka masala.
Now the Trader Joe’s tikka masala is the best Indian dish close to my house.
The weird part was how sweet the sauce was. It was like the made the dish, then stirred it with rock candy. It was just … weird. My only guess is that they thought this is what fat, sweet-​toothed Americans like.
Also, there was no free papadum, which is just funky. We ordered it for a couple bucks, which was a mistake because once again the sauces were sweet and terrible.
Miraculously, my wife’s lamb makhani was good. I would say that it gives me hope to come back and try more dishes, but I don’t think so. It did earn them the second star, however.
Basically, I’ve always wondered about this place while walking to Quarry House (right around the corner, down the stairs). When we walked it, it was nearly empty. And for good reason.

Indian buffets rarely let me down. The servers were a little stalker-​esque; they just kind of watched you the whole time; no personality. But, hey, with a buffet, you don’t really need the servers.
Chicken masala, savory and creamy. A vegetable dish that looked bland, but that was well-​seasoned, and a potato dish that complimented the chicken nicely. The naan was good, and the rice was good. I ordered a mango-​yogurt drink called a lassi, and that was good. Even the dessert porridge was good. We got some vegetable samosas on the side, and they were really well-​done too.
Overall, kind of bland, but not disappointing. Really quiet and small and nice for a simple meal.

My friend and I walked in one night craving curry. We were debating between here and the Thai across the street. We ended up here just because we had never tried this spot, and wanted something new.
We ordered veggie samosas which were only $ 2, pretty good deal. My friend ordered the lamb korma which he loved. I ordered the baingan bharta with roti. I thought everything was delicious.
Prices are standard for the Indian restaurants in the area.
There is no parking, so you will have to find street parking or park on the street.
Service was good.
